  • Third Zee channel WION to be aired on Africa’s Kwesé

    MUMBAI: Zee Africa has announced the launch of its global English news channel WION on Kwesé TV, Africa’s pay–TV network.

    This will be the third channel from the Zee stable on the Kwesé platform which already hosts Bollymovies on channel 155 and Zee Bollynova on channel 150, added in January 2017.

    WION will premiere to the African audience in Kwesé TV’s current satellite markets on channel 731, and will reach viewers in Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, and Lesotho through its multi-platform broadcast offering which includes Kwesé mobile app, linear TV, and web streaming services.

    With WION, Zee Africa CEO Harish Goyal said, they had committed to deliver to the African viewers, authentic information and a local perspective to what was happening in the world. Econet Media CEO Joseph Hundah concluded that the addition of WION to its line-up added further diversity to its bouquet.

    WION, with its head office in Delhi and bureaus in 37 global locations, has multi-cultural staff adding local perspective to every global story.

    WION is the first India-based network to have its presence in regions such as the U.S., the UK, Russia, China, and Africa making it South Asia’s first convergent, multi-media English news network

  • Zee accelerates growth plan for Africa, partners TNTSAT

    MUMBAI: Aiming to further strengthen its presence in Africa, leading Indian content company, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) today announced its entry into the French-speaking country of Mali with the launch of its leading channels, Zee Magic and Zee Cinema on DTT network – TNTSAT Africa in Mali. Additionally, from today, ZEE Africa is partnering with the continent’s largest DTH platform, DStv for the launch of Zee Bollymovies (channel 114), a specially customized, English-dubbed, Bollywood movie channel for the African market.

    ZEEL CEO – international broadcast business Amit Goenka said: “ZEE will be making further inroads into the vast continent of Africa with our entry into the French-speaking country of Mali. Sharing our existing channels – Zee Magic and Zee Cinema with new audiences is a huge achievement for us and we thank TNTSAT for allowing us to bring the best of Bollywood to all their viewers in Mali.”

    Zee Magic, launched in October 2015, is a General Entertainment channel dubbed in French which brings the best of Bollywood series and food shows to Francophone Africa, while Zee Cinema is a 24-hour Hindi Bollywood Movie channel catering to South Asians on the continent. In Mali, Zee Magic and Zee Cinema will be available on TNTSAT Africa in the ‘Divas offer’, a high standard package that is tailor-made for viewers.

    Zee Bollymovies, a 24-hour specially customized movie channel dubbed in English, launched in January 2017 in Africa. DStv will first premiere Zee Bollymovies in South Africa and then take it to the rest of the continent to market Bollywood entertainment to Africa. With these exciting new additions from ZEE, Africa now has a first-row seat to watch the best of content – Bollywood movies, television series and food shows – that India has to offer!

The channel aims to become the number one destination for Bollywood on the continent, bringing the latest and best Bollywood entertainment to Africa.     Zee Magic launches in Indian Ocean Island on Parabole Maurice

    MUMBAI: A month after it was launched on the Canal Plus platform in Africa, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) has launched its customised general entertainment channel Zee Magic on Parabole Maurice in the Indian Ocean Island.

     

    Dubbed in French to to accommodate the French African audience, Zee Magic is tailored for all types of viewers from movie fanatics, avid series followers, food lovers and reality show enthusiasts.

     

    Zee Magic will launch on Parabole Maurice with three series namely Remariage, La Promesse and Lien Sacre as well as Bollywood movies. 

     

    The channel has been made available on the Parabole Maurice platform on channel 144 from 5 November, 2015 onwards and will be beamed in Indian Ocean Island Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, Reunion Island and Seychelles.

     

    The move is in line with Zeel chairman Dr. Subhash Chandra’s vision to bring authentic and entertaining content to the world stage. “We want you to become a part of our growing family,” he said.

     

    “We are excited to bring Zee Magic to the Indian Ocean Island countries.  This is an indication of the hunger Africa has for Bollywood and Indian content. Our expansion on the continent brings me great joy,” added Zee TV South Africa CEO Harish Goyal.

     

    Zeel first ventured into Africa 19 years ago as the brand’s first international territory. Zee TV has been present on DSTV since 1996 and on Canal Plus since 2006.

    Zee launches customised GEC in Africa for French audience

    MUMBAI: After launching its English general entertainment channel (GEC) – Zee World in Sub Saharan Africa early this year, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) is all set to launch another channel in the region called Zee Magic.

     

    Zee Magic is a customised GEC for French audiences in Africa, showcasing French dubbed Indian movies, series, food, reality shows and more. 

     

    The channel will be available on the Canal Plus Overseas platform on #51 from 1 October, 2015.

     

    Zee Magic will launch with three award winning series namely Remariage, La Promesse and Lien Sacre along with a host of Bollywood movies.

    MUMBAI:  Zee World is all set to pep up its programming line up with the launch of three new shows. Come 18 May and the channel will premiere Breaking Free, Destiny and Eternal Love in the daily 6 – 8 pm slot.

     

    Zee TV South Africa CEO Harish Goyal said, “We are excited to introduce you to our new characters as they go through all the drama and action that you have come to expect from our brand. Zee World prides itself in delivering the best in entertainment for you and your family.     The series will offer diverse content, reflecting the channel’s efforts in providing relatable entertainment.

     

    Breaking Free, which will be aired from Monday to Friday at 8 pm, is a story of a young girl called Sugni, who attempts to change the age old tradition, which the corrupt society will never let go off.

     

    On the other hand, the channel’s second new show Destiny revolves around a family that depicts the mindset of most of the middle and upper class families of the society. It shows the psychology of individuals who believe that the society can be run and governed by men only. It will be aired from Monday to Friday at 7 pm.

     

    The third show, Eternal Love is a story of three individuals, Sahiba, Ranveer and Daljeet with a number of twists and turns in their lives. They find themselves in a completely new world where love becomes the driving forces. The show will be aired from Monday to Friday at 6 pm.

    MUMBAI: Zee World, the first English General entertainment channel targeted specifically for African viewers from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel), has introduced a new line up of cooking shows.

     

    “Never before has there been more of a demand for food shows. We have chosen a great mix of relevant and relatable content for our African viewers. Each food show showcases a variety of dishes and cooking styles from the more advanced cook to someone just wanting to try a new snack or create fun food experiences for their kids,” said Zee TV South Africa CEO Harish Goyal.

     

    The new food show line up kicks off on Zee World, DStv channel 166 in May with the award winning Khana Khazana, along with Snack Attack and Kiddies Treats.

     

    Khana Khazana is a cooking show by renowned and award winning Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. On the other hand, Snack Attack is hosted by Chef Ranveer Brar, who brings interesting and innovative snack recipes that can easily be made at home. Chef Brar has been featured amongst the top 50 chefs in the Indian Culinary Forum book.

     

    The third show – Kiddies Treats is a one of a kind cooking show created for young mothers in search for new and exciting recipes. Gurdeep Punj, a mother and television personality, bring innovative and creative recipes that are both delicious and visually pleasing to young ones.

    Zee World posts impressive numbers in first month

    Zee World, the first English General Entertainment channel (GEC) from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) targeted specifically for African viewers has posted its first week of ratings after being on air for 30 days.

     

     

    As per the ratings, Zee World ranked in the top 10 channels on the DStv platform within the English GEC space.

     

    Zee World went live on DStv channel 166 on 3 February, 2015. The channel, fully dubbed in English, showcases Bollywood movies, series, reality and variety shows.

    “Zee World delivered a weekly GRP of 31, which is an impressive figure for a new channel on a pay platform. Almost all the original telecast of programmes on Zee World has appeared within the top 50 programme list, which is a great success for us. We are pleased with the results and can only grow from strength to strength,” says Zee TV South Africa CEO Harish Goyal.

     

    Zee World’s series, Laali was positioned 17th in the top performing programmes within all the English GEC programmes having more than 30 sec average time spent per viewer; almost double than the leading series on other channels.

     

    The channel is available in Sub Saharan Africa, channel 166 on DStv Premium, Extra, Compact and Family pack in South Africa and from the Access pack above within the rest of Africa. It is also available on the Multichoice Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), GO TV platform on channel 25.
