    MUMBAI: UFC Fighter Tyron ‘T-Wood’ Woodley aka The Chosen One, recently made his Bollywood debut in the Salman Khan starrer, Sultan where he fought the superstar on the big screen. Fans in India were mesmerized as the UFC challenger introduced some of his MMA skills to Bollywood. He is now all set to create the magic in the Octagon, with the Welterweight Championship Bout, where he will be facing Robbie Lawler in UFC201. Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN), will broadcast this explosive fight LIVE and exclusive, on 31st July 2016, at 0730 hrs on Sony Six and Sony Six HD.

    The UFC 201 fight card also features some of the other highly awaited fights. Rose Namajunas will take on Karolina Kowalkiewicz in the women’s Strawweight bout, along with Matt Brown and Jake Ellenberger who will compete against each other in the men Welterweight championship. Also, the men’s Flyweight championship will see Ian McCall fight against Justin Scoggins.

    Tyron Woodley created quite a stir amongst the Indian audiences as he took to social media expressing his excitement in making his Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan. The Bollywood star surely put up a great fight in the film, for which he trained hard, four hours a day to get in shape for the film. On the other hand, Tyron was also packing on the pounds to match the Indian wrestler’s physique. Speaking about the upcoming fight with Robbie Lawler, the UFC Challenger said, “Robbie knows that I respect him. I admire the way he came back and had this crazy run at the title. I admire him but I want to be a UFC champion. I’m just a person that has a seat at the throne right now and that’s where I desire to sit.”

    The inclusion of international fighters like Tyron Woodley in Bollywood has generated a lot of interest in MMA and more and more Indian fans are now seen following the sport. Salman Khan promoting UFC 200 has further added to the massive level of interest.

This is the original copy of the newspaper used in the movie Spider-Man 3 and PIX is going to make it available for viewing across multiple cities in India. Through this one in a million opportunity, the newspaper will be making its round across Hard Rock Café outlets in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad starting 15 January 2016.

     

     The channel will also air five Spider-Man movies back to back on 26 January 2016 starting 10 am onwards to 9:30 pm.

    Alt-Rock sensation Switchfoot to tour India with Vh1 Rock Rules

    MUMBAI:  This March, Vh1 is all set to bring international alt-rock sensation Switchfoot to India with Micromax Vh1 Rock Rules.

     

    This tour marks the debut performance of the California-based, Grammy award-winning band in India. Alt-Rock fans will get a chance to witness the band perform live in India in Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon at Hard Rock Café on 25, 27 and 29 March respectively.

     

    After the release of nine studio albums, Switchfoot is geared up to finally take Indian fans down a nostalgic lane with their three-city tour. Being their maiden trip to India, Switchfoot promises to entertain fans with the best hits of their eighteen years.

     

    Viacom18 EVP and English entertainment head Ferzad Palia says, “Switchfoot has created a rage amongst the Indian audience with their super-hit tracks and albums for several years. We are immensely delighted to present the band’s maiden tour in India through Micromax Vh1 Rock Rules.”

     

    Switchfoot member Jon Foreman added, “I had the chance to visit India on my own a few years back, and it blew my mind. Ever since, I’ve been begging for the chance to bring my bandmates back with me to play some shows. We can’t wait to bring these songs to India.”

     

    Switchfoot became a sensation with their popular tracks in ‘A Walk To Remember’. The band then commenced their journey to success with hit singles such as ‘We are One Tonight’, ‘Need To Live’ to name a few.     BENGALURU: Suzuki Motorcycles India Private Limited (SMIPL) announced the launch of its flagship 155cc bike Gixxer in Bengaluru.

     

    SMIPL executive VP Atul Gupta said, “Loaded with exciting equipment, power, handling and trusted Suzuki quality, the Gixxer will make a statement without saying a word. It is an overall mix of elegant styling, classy on-road presence and promising performance, and will attract young bikers to rev up and ride. We expect Gixxer to create a strong foothold for itself in the market.”

     

    He added, “Suzuki is keen on providing youth-centric products for the Indian customers at a very competitive price. Our track record of new launches iterates Suzuki’s legacy built on the ethos of credibility along with advanced, unmatched engineering. In tune with its endeavours to reach out to maximum potential buyers the motorcycle major is also coming up with a marketing campaign featuring the actor-endorser Salman Khan.”

     

    The first phase of its TVC campaign has already begun, and will run until post the festival season. A TVC featuring the company’s brand ambassador Khan has been created by Hakuhodo Percept for Gixxer.

     

    Industry sources reveal that the company will spend around 30-40 per cent of it’s approximately Rs 100 crore advertisement budget for FY-22015 on Gixxer.

     

    “The company is targeting the 18-25 age group male, and apart from Colors TV channel in the HSM and the leading GECs in each of the regional markets, the Gixxer campaign will be aired on sports, lifestyle, music and niche channels,” said SMIPL national head of marketing Anu Anamika. Besides television, SMIPL is betting big on digital as well as print.

     

    “We’d said that we would launch four products this year, Gixxer is the fourth one. Post Diwali we plan to launch a brand campaign. Our previous campaign had our brand ambassador Parineeti Chopra for our scooter Let’s,” added Anamika.

    MUMBAI: While Mumbai voted on 24 April, DDB MudraMax and Thincquisitive Foundation celebrated democracy, by hosting India’s first ever Voters Party at Hard Rock Cafe, Andheri, Mumbai.

     

    Being a Voters party, only people who had voted, by showing proof of the Black Dot, could enter. The hosts screened the IPL match and this was followed by live performances by Anushka Manchanda, Spud in the Box and Vasuda Sharma.

     

    Operation Black Dots objective was to bring a shift in the way politics is looked at in India and by making it more engaging and inclusive. Open hangout sessions were held, at regular intervals with eminent political leaders, journalists and economists such as Priya Dutt, Ajit Ranade, Aarthi Saathe, Mahrukh Inayet, Sanjay Jha, Milind Deora, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, where a various number of topics were discussed such as Section 377, Political Ideologies, Money spent on political campaigns etc.

     

    The team also got the youth interested and tuned in, by visiting most colleges across Mumbai, and helping students get their voters id and also answer all queries they had regarding any subject. Apart from this, Vishal Dadlani, Purab Kohli, VJ Jose and Anushka Manchanda were roped in to spread the word and get as many youngsters to vote by tweeting and posting messages about #OBDIndia on their Twitter and Facebook pages.

     

    On 23 April, Tata Nano Twist helped promote the initiative by supplying six cars and four bikes that went all around the city, encouraging people to vote, the next day. The team also took to outdoor for the final leg, by asking Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan where they’re going to be on voting day.

     

    Commenting on the success of the campaign,  Operation Black Dot  founder and DDB Mudra Group chief youth marketer Samyak Chakrabarty said, “Thorough this campaign, not only is this an incentive for the disinterested voters to go out and vote, but is an excellent way for them to celebrate their vote and consequently democracy. From getting MPs on bean bags to breaking down complex political concepts into quick fun videos, we did it all to ensure our TG finds such discourse interesting and engaging. Our team of 100+ volunteers who were mainly students themselves did a great job in engaging their peer groups for this cause.”

    MUMBAI: Music lovers in the city were present at the Hard Rock Café yesterday evening to witness the Bacardi Weekender, a series of parties that are being held as a lead to the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. The magic of music came alive under one roof with Indus Creed, Soulmate and Spud in The Box. 

    Spud in the Box is a six-piece Alternative Pop-Rock band formed in March 2011 in Mumbai. Their performance involved the musical energies of Zubin Bhathena on bass, Rohan Rajadhakshya on vocals and keyboards, Ankit Dayal on vocals and guitar, and Hartej Sawhney and Siddharth Talwar on guitars. They were witnessed creating an amazing amalgamation of acoustic rock/rock and roll that had the audience enthralled.

    Inspired by the roots and groove sounds of the Blues, Blues-Rock, Soul, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Funk and R&B, Soulmate was formed in Shillong, in October 2002 when Rudy Wallang and Tipriti Kharbangar decided to form a band dedicated to playing the Blues and spreading awareness about this important genre of music. And since then, even in yesterday’s performance, the Blues played by them enthralled the audience. Rudy and Tripti were joined by Leon Wallang on Bass Guitar, Paltimon Pyrtuh on Drums & Raveen Panday on Keyboards.

    Indus Creed, the trailblazing band, had set the stage for what we recognize today as the definitive rock movement in India: unshackled, pathbreaking, well-produced original music embodying the spirit of free expression and individuality. Indus Creed were large and loud.

    It was indeed a perfect blend of varied music genres which made the Saturday night roar high on fun with an amazing response to the artistes.
