  • Wendy’s rave serves burgers with a scare

Wendy’s rave serves burgers with a scare

MUMBAI: This Halloween, Wendy’s is swapping ketchup for cobwebs and fries for fright. The burger chain is turning its outlets in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune into haunted rave zones for one wicked night of food, fun and fearless partying.

On October 31, Wendy’s Rave, Halloween edition will transform the restaurants into spooky diners with eerie lighting, creepy décor and surprise jump scares. Guests can feast on unlimited burgers, fries, beverages and desserts while grooving to a mix of Hindi cinema and EDM beats that promise to raise the dead, or at least the dance floor.

Instead of the usual neon wristbands, party-goers will get glowing devil horn headbands, turning the crowd into a sea of red light and mischief. The surprise highlight? A DJ set by “Wendy” herself, complete with haunting Halloween makeup and a playlist that’s equal parts spooky and spectacular.

“Halloween is all about bold, expressive fun, and Wendy’s is taking that spirit to the next level,” said Rebel Foods chief marketing officer Nishant Kedia. “The Wendy’s Rave is our way of serving flavour with a side of madness and a whole lot of music.”

As beats drop and burgers flip, expect ghostly laughter, spine-tingling sound effects, and crew members in scary masks dishing out your meal with the occasional jump scare.

It’s a night where burgers meet the bizarre, fries flirt with fright, and Wendy’s proves that food can be just as thrilling as a haunted house. This Halloween, your meal might just scream back.

  • Call of Duty: Mobile goes gothic for Halloween with WWE crossover

Call of Duty: Mobile goes gothic for Halloween with WWE crossover

MUMBAI: Nothing says Halloween quite like watching Undertaker suplex a zombie on a haunted Mexican estate at midnight. Welcome to Call of Duty: Mobile’s latest update.

Season 9—Midnight Rumble—launches today with a hefty serving of Halloween content, including the return of fan-favourite modes like Attack of the Undead and Hordepoint. The update introduces night mode on the Isolated map for the first time since 2020, forcing players to adjust their tactics in near-darkness. Hacienda returns as Haunted Hacienda, complete with ghost ships, jack-o’-lanterns and creatures lurking in the shadows.

The headline addition is a limited-time WWE collaboration that lets players fight as wrestling legends including Undertaker. Players start matches with boxing gloves and can transform into WWE operators on winning streaks, gaining enhanced health and signature finishing moves that work from any direction. It’s an unlikely crossover that signals the game’s confidence in experimenting beyond military realism.

The Halloween update kicks off a three-season arc dubbed Black & Gold that will run until the game’s sixth anniversary in Season 11. The campaign starts with Black, bringing back the most popular maps, modes, operators and weapons from the game’s history. Season 10 will flip to Gold  with fresh content before the anniversary finale.

Beyond the WWE mode, players can earn free legendary weapons through seasonal events, including the FFAR—Shredder and RPD—Road Mongrel. The battle pass introduces the Sten submachine gun, widely used by British forces in the Second World War, alongside Halloween-themed operator skins like Ajax—Insanely Jacked and Seraph—Witch’s Holiday.

The store update includes a new Mythic weapon draw featuring the Type 25—Deepstar Piercer, two WWE-themed draws for Alexa Bliss and Undertaker, and returning Halloween weapon blueprints in a series armoury. Two previous battle passes—Graveyard Shift and Winter War—are also returning to the vault.

For a mobile game competing against console-quality shooters and battle royales, the strategy is clear: pile on the content, embrace the absurd, and keep players engaged with constant variety. Whether that approach sustains momentum through to the sixth anniversary remains to be seen, but Activision is betting that zombies and wrestlers make a winning combination.

  • Halloween-a tricky holiday for us and a sweet treat for pirates

Halloween-a tricky holiday for us and a sweet treat for pirates

MUMBAI: In all spirit of spookiness, there were a total of 653,260 search visits to piracy sites by consumers interested in viewing horror content—25 times higher than search visits to legal sites. Monster and Killer movies/TV shows were the most popular genres being illegally downloaded, but Paranormal was a close third when it comes to TV shows. Irdeto’s data also found clear spikes in the level of activity at peer-to-peer pirate sites during the month of October across horror genres.

While it is clear that consumers are looking to get their Halloween fix through illegal means, the film or TV show they are watching may not be the only scare coming their way. By downloading pirated content, consumers are openly inviting malware and other viruses to hack into their systems and steal their personal information.

More Halloween piracy findings can be found on Irdeto’s latest Horror of Piracy blog and interactive website for your reference. Please let us know if you're interested to run the blog post or use the piracy findings for a story you're working on.

  • Halloween comes early on Star World Premiere HD

Halloween comes early on Star World Premiere HD

Straddling the line between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition and it seems to have arrived early on Star World Premiere HD. The channel that takes pride in bringing the biggest and most critically acclaimed shows to India is set to premiere the two spookiest shows of television – Ryan Murphy’s Horror Anthology series American Horror Story Season 6 and Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s horror drama The Strain Season 3.

The vampire drama The Strain is set to return for its third season on 3 September at 11 pm in India and stars Corey Stoll (House of Cards), David Bradley (Argus Filch in the Harry Potter film series and Walder Frey in Game of Thrones) and Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings) in the lead roles. The Strain comes from a trilogy of novels written by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim, Hellboy) and Chuck Hogan, who wrote the novel, Prince of Thieves that Ben Affleck used as the basis for The Town.

Regarding the concept, del Toro sought to de-romanticize vampires, which have been humanized and turned into love interests in recent years. During the launch of the series, del Toro had said: “Vampires have been romanticised. We’ve kind of de-fanged them. I wanted to do this not as a movement, but as an alternative. It is gory, but not gory for the sake of being gory. I would say it’s biologically curious. But the way the vampires breed is truly brutal.”

The thriller started with an investigation into a mysterious viral outbreak in New York City with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team and his team wage war for the fate of humanity itself. The season three begins with New York City being written off by the federal government, leaving the remaining residents fighting for survival on their own in this battleground.

Next in the line-up is the much-awaited Season 6 of American Horror Story that will mark its debut on 18 September at 11:30 pm in India. Each year, Ryan Murphy gives television it’s most bafflingly and sinister hour of television with American Horror Story and this year seems even more intriguing as the show creators have kept the theme of forthcoming Season 6 a closely guarded secret. However, the cast-members Evan Peters, Matt Bomer, Leslie Jordan, Cheyenne Jackson, Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson and Angela Bassett have confirmed their involvement for season6.

Ryan Murphy had hinted on the Season 6 during an interview last fall, “We’re doing something we’ve never done before on a show where we’re doing two different groups of writer’s rooms. Some of our writers will be bouncing around, but a whole different group is coming in late August. The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than [Season 5]. Not smaller. Not just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”

This year also marks many firsts for the series as it is the first time that the series is making a debut outside of October in its history and it is the first season to not release a subtitle, before the premiere, since its launch!
