  • Muthoot prays for fulfillment of the consumers’ aspirations in new Ad Campaign

Muthoot prays for fulfillment of the consumers’ aspirations in new Ad Campaign

NEW DELHI: ‘Sapney aapke, prarthana hamari‘ (your aspirations, our prayers) is the tagline of the new advertising campaign by Muthoot Finance Ltd.

Conceptualised by the Delhi team of Grey Worldwide, the core objective of this campaign was to present Muthoot Finance as a company that goes beyond just the five minutes that a customer spends while making a transaction in a branch, into the company with a heart. In other words, when Muthoot Finance provides a gold loan to a customer, the customer is always given that loan by Muthoot Finance from the heart and with a prayer that whatever the customer wishes for comes true or gets full-filled.

To give the six-week campaign a holistic approach, Muthoot Finance has devised a 360 degree marketing campaign that includes electronic, print, radio, digital, outdoor etc. The ad will be aired and published across India in local languages.

Muthoot group director Alexander George Muthoot said: “In today‘s day and age of transactional relationship between the marketer and the consumer it was imperative for us to bring out the essence of our company – our essence of trust, of care and of being inclusive. As market leaders and competing at the same time with multiple competitors, it was important for us to differentiate ourselves. The product that we offer is the same but our philosophy is not. The new campaign talks not just about the fact that ‘we give gold loans for anything you need‘ but talks about that we care about your dreams and when we give you a gold loan, we pray that the dream that you have seen comes true, essentially bringing forward the core thought of a loan with a heart.”

Grey India National creative director & EVP Amit Akali said, “When we met the client for the pitch briefing, we realised that while most ‘Gold Loan‘ companies were transactional and atypical moneylenders, almost Shylock like, Muthoot was clearly different. They came from the philosophy that when a client comes to you to pledge his gold, he‘s come to you because of a problem, a need or a dream and they were there to find a solution. We did a ‘mystery shopper‘ exercise to validate the same and realised that Muthoot employees actually behaved differently; they seemed more concerned about your problems, went out of their way to help, were polite and were ingrained with small ‘human‘ practices, like handing out money only with their right hand. We were then ‘clear‘ that we need a route that would allow us to bring alive these ‘intangibles‘. That is where the thought of Muthoot employees ‘praying‘ for their clients dreams to be realised came from. When it came to the film, we wanted to keep it simple and ‘real‘, with ‘real‘ characters and show what they actually took loans for.”

The concept behind ‘Sapney aapke, prarthana hamari‘ was to go beyond the clich?©s like fear, elevation, the best in class, the best returns, security, being always there, etc. In the transactional world of banking and NBFC, ‘Sapney aapke, prarthana hamari‘ stands out. It purely states that when the consumer approaches Muthoot Finance for a gold loan, he is not only provided that loan but the company understands the dreams and aspirations. While no company can shy away from the business angle, the aim is to bring out the humane side: pray that all dreams come true. Thus, the core of this concept was to present a Muthoot Gold Loan as a ‘loan from the heart‘.

The TV poetically speaks about the multiple milestones that arise in the lives of everyday, common people. Whether it‘s a business venture, a new home, welcoming the birth of a new baby, or a child‘s higher education, the idea was to go beyond the fact that sometimes you just need to take a loan. In each of these situations, Muthoot Finance not only is a facilitator that works to keep alive the dreams of people, but is also a trusted company that believes in praying for people‘s endeavours to turn out successfully.

The campaign was made keeping The Muthoot Group‘s legacy of 126 years of trust and being one of India‘s highly-respected diversified business conglomerates.

  • Creative Abbys 2013: McCann and Grey claim a grand prix each

VARCA, GOA: It‘s raining metals at the Abbys in Goa. Joining Interface Business Solutions in the advertising hall of fame at the 2013 Creative Abbys, Grey Worldwide and McCann Worldgroup have each picked up a grand prix for their work in the integrated category (sub category clothing, innerwear, footwear and accessories) and print category (sub category business and home services) respectively.

McCann Worldgroup finished this year‘s campaign with 56 Abby statuettes; seven gold, 15 silver and 33 bronze Abbys apart from the grand prix. Grey pocketed 14 metals in all adding seven silver and six bronze honours to the grand prix.

A total of 442 metals were awarded this year to 73 winning agencies. Calling it a celebration of creativity, Leo Burnett India and South Asia CEO Arvind Sharma said, “It is not only the number of entries that has increased, but the number of agencies participating has also seen a hike. This shows the confidence that every member of the advertising fraternity has in the Abbys.”

And a celebration it is going to be at the Publicis Groupe’s creative hotspot as Leo Burnett picked up 71 metals with nine gold, 35 silver and 28 bronze Abbys, though the grand prix eluded the agency.

The agency won one gold in the integrated (media and publications) category for its work on SET India‘s game show KBC-6, one in the film category (media and publication) for SET India’s Girl Child campaign, one in the outdoor category (public service, appeals and charity) for Indian Red Cross Society’s Gift Blood this Christmas, two in the radio category – one for Tata Salt Lite’s Society campaign in the subcategory food and one for creating the KBC Anthem for SET India in the subcategory media and publications, two in the radio craft category – Tata Salt Lite Society campaign and the KBC Anthem for SET India(subcategory writing), one in the print craft (illustration) for its work on the Heinz Tomato Ketchup brand and one in the design category (environment design) for the reflection of music installation it created for MTV’s Coke Studio.

Leo Burnett Solutions, the creative agency’s digital arm also bagged three metals (two silver and one bronze), taking the network’s tally to 74.

Despite the withdrawal of 13 entries at advanced stages of judging, JWT India bagged 48 Abby metals this year including five gold, 17 silver and 26 bronze awards. ideas@work advertising took home 29 metals with one gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze Abbys.

Other agencies to pocket a gold include Taproot India, The Dentsu Group, BBDO Proximity, Bang Bang Films, Contract Advertising, DDB Mudra Group, Scarecrow Communications and Publicis Communications.

The creative Abbys received a staggering 4300 entries (50 more than last year) from nearly 173 agencies.

This year saw the inclusion of of a new category in the creative Abbys in Branded Content. The category had 12 winners in its first year with two entries winning gold, five winning silver and five winning bronze. JWT India took one gold for Zinkdagi Abhi BAki Hai for Birla Sun Life Insurance and the other went to Scarecrow Communications for the brand B’LUE’s Reveal Yourself: 1 song, 1500 lyricists.

“With the inclusion of this category, we have opened the doors of partcipation to not only creative and media agencies but also entities like broadcasters, content companies and production houses,”said Percept Ltd’s Ajay Chandawani.

This year, the creative Abbys had its fair share of controversies. First leading agency and consistent award winner Ogilvy and Mather declared that it would not participate in the awards. Last year, Ogilvy emerged the leading award aggregator with 51 metals, including a grand prix for its work on Fox Crime. The next scam to erupt was the Ford Figo poster campaign conceptualised by JWT that started the debate on scam ads and the accountability issue in the client-agency relationship anew and saw the exit of Bobby Pawar from his post as managing partner and chief creative officer at JWT India.

JWT India‘s entries for its campaign for Ford Figo were withdrawn from the awards.

As a consequence of this development Creativeland Asia (CLA) founder Raj Kurup decided to withdraw his name from all the juries in the creative Abby judges process and also requested that all entries from his agencies be revoked. The latter request was however denied since the judging process was almost 90 per cent complete. CLA completed its run at the Abbys this year with seven metal – three silver and four bronze.

Summing up the creative Abbys this year Sharma said, “In the end, its been a successful year. Let us look at this way – this year, we have recognised and awarded over 400 creative ideas which i believe is a great thing for the industry.”

We will raise a toast to that! Sante!

  • Grey creates Network18’s corporate campaign

MUMBAI: Grey Worldwide- Mumbai has created the new corporate campaign for Network18 titled ‘Red Tag‘. It has been directed by filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee.

Grey India national creative director Malvika Mehra said, “The task very simply was to introduce Network18 to the world and explain the role it plays in impacting people‘s lives. We wanted to create something for Network18 that ‘connects‘ with the consumer. We did this in a very simple way. We took an element from the Network18 logo itself – ‘the red tag‘ and had some fun with it.

“The brief was simple enough, but fitting all the pieces together in a script wasn‘t, believe me! We knew we wanted to be about omnipresence, we knew we had to be fresh, but above all we were sure we didn‘t want a stiff conventional, corporate approach,” Grey Mumbai senior ECD Rohit Malkani said.

“Rather than have Network18 do a little chest thumping exercise, it made more sense to have people discover for themselves how big they really are. And that was the genesis for the ‘red tag‘ game,” Mehra added.

The agency has used ‘BachkeRehna‘ track from Pukaar in an attempt to bring alive India and its people, whose lives Network 18 touches.

The film begins in a regular looking office where a man shakes his head incredulously as he announces that the ‘rupee is 56 to the dollar‘. Suddenly he finds a female colleague rushing towards him with a red sticky tag/note, which she slaps on to his chest. He is surprised at first then realises why she did that as he checks the CNBC moneycontrol page on his phone. To his surprise he now sees her surfing some deals on Homeshop 18.com. In a ‘counter move‘, he rushes to her with glee and slaps her back with a red tag.

And so it begins…a random, fun and exciting game where people across India tag each other with Red Tags each time they are touched by Network18. A young girl is tagged by her father because she pushes away her dinner plate after seeing a report on Anna, a boy is tagged by his friends after he lets out a volley of abuses at their neighbour, a grandmother is tagged by her granddaughter who spies her watching BalikaVadhu and dabbing her eyes etc. The film ends after a series of rapid tags with a voice over that highlights the penny drop moment. “If you were tagged for every way that we touched your life. This is what your world would look like. This is Network18. The life in your day.”
