    MUMBAI: Greaves Electric Mobility is charging ahead in India’s EV revolution. The company has partnered with Shriram Green Finance, the EV financing arm of Shriram Finance, to make electric vehicles more accessible to drivers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses nationwide.

    The collaboration will provide customers with flexible loans covering up to 90 per cent of the vehicle’s cost, competitive interest rates, and customised repayment plans for GEML’s electric three-wheelers under the Greaves 3W brand and light commercial EVs (ELE).

    With a legacy spanning 165 years, Greaves continues to set industry benchmarks in performance and endurance. Its Greaves Eltra city xtra recently set a national record with a 324 km journey on a single charge, recognised by the India Book of Records, proof of GEML’s engineering excellence and real-world efficiency.

    “This partnership brings together our innovative EV portfolio and Shriram Finance’s extensive lending network to accelerate adoption across cities and states,” said a company spokesperson. Customers will benefit from over 500 PAN-India touchpoints, seamless dealer support, and access to clean, future-ready mobility solutions.

    Ampere Nexus becomes first EV to conquer Shipki La Pass, (13,200ft)

    MUMBAI: Ampere Nexus, the electric 2-wheeler from the house of Greaves Electric Mobility, has made history by becoming the first-ever electric scooter to reach the Shipki La Pass at an altitude of 13,200 ft, riding to just 200 metres from the LOC. This Independence ride, undertaken to promote the Border Tourism Initiative of the Indian Army led by Tripeak Brigade under the aegis of Surya Command, also proves that India’s EV revolution can thrive from urban roads to the nation’s most remote and challenging terrains.

    Flagged off from Chandigarh on 9 August 2025, the Shipki La Pass expedition was a three-day journey and a feat achieved by two Ampere Nexus scooters. Covering over 425 km of winding mountain roads, steep gradients, and diverse terrains – the journey covered Shimla, Reckong Peo and Pooh, passing through the Kinnaur Valley before the final climb to Shipki La Pass.

    Since its launch in 2024 — marked by the Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari ride — the Ampere Nexus has been achieving records due to its endurance, performance, and adaptability. From traversing the length of the nation to now conquering one of its highest and most formidable passes, the Nexus continues to prove it is Engineered to Outperform, Outlast, and Outshine in every environment.

    On arrival at the Shipki La Pass, the Ampere Nexus riders and the team were welcomed by Indian Army jawans, who then participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day. This served as a powerful moment that fused national pride, technological progress, and environmental commitment.

    The achievement was also formally recognised with a certificate from the India Book of Records stating, “First Electric 2-Wheeler to Reach Shipki La Pass – The record for the First Electric 2-Wheeler to reach Shipki La Pass was set by Ampere Nexus, supporting the Indian Army’s border tourism initiative. The ride started from Chandigarh on August 9, 2025, and concluded on 12 August at Shipki La Pass (13,200 ft). This expedition showcased the endurance and performance of the EV scooter, highlighting its ease of charging, empowering it to drive to the very edge of our map, as confirmed on 12 August 2025”

    This feat is part of Greaves Electric Mobility’s larger purpose- to democratise smart, sustainable mobility in the country. The journey demonstrates that electric mobility is no longer confined to cities; with the Ampere Nexus’s reliable performance, adaptable design, and ease of charging, it can reach even India’s farthest frontiers, making clean mobility accessible to all.

    MUMBIAI: Trupti Prabhu Roy, a PR dynamo with a trophy cabinet bursting with awards, has plugged into Greaves Electric Mobility as the company’s  new lead for corporate communications. Roy, known for her electrifying campaigns and crisis-busting prowess, is set to steer the e-mobility giant’s communications, with a particular focus on its upcoming IPO.

    Roy, whose LinkedIn profile reads like a PR hall of fame, joins Greaves Electric Mobility after a stint as deputy general manager at Greaves Cotton Ltd. Her impressive CV also includes a four-year stint at Six Degrees BCW, where she led campaigns for tech and automotive giants like Ather Energy, JFrog, and ThoughtSpot.

    “Managing communications for all brands under Greaves Electric Mobility, including Ampere and Greaves 3W, and leading strategic messaging and IPO communication efforts,” is how Roy describes her new role. A proper plateful, even for a seasoned pro.

    MUMBAI:  Ampere, the electric two-wheeler division of Greaves Electric Mobility (GEML), has introduced the Reo 80, a new electric scooter designed for widespread accessibility across India. The Reo 80, priced at Rs 59,900, aims to provide an economical and sustainable transportation option for a broad consumer base.

    Greaves Electric Mobility Ltd (GEML) executive director and CEO K. Vijaya Kumar stated, “With the launch of the Ampere Reo 80, we are enhancing the accessibility of electric mobility for customers in India.”

    The Reo 80 features an 80km range on a single charge and operates without the requirement for a license or registration. The scooter includes a colored LCD cluster, LFP battery, front disc brakes, keyless start, dual-tone color options, and alloy wheels. Deliveries are scheduled to commence across India in April 2025.

    GEML  has reported a 52 per cent month-on-month growth in electric two-wheeler sales for March 2025, according to Vahan data. GEML, a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton Ltd  (GCL), focuses on developing and manufacturing electric vehicles. Greaves Cotton, with a history spanning 165 years, is transitioning towards providing comprehensive mobility solutions.

    Greaves Cotton announces key hires; appoints Dr Arup Basu as deputy managing director

    Mumbai: Greaves Cotton on Tuesday announced the appointment of Dr Arup Basu as deputy managing director of Greaves Cotton Ltd and Sanjay Behl as CEO and executive director of Greaves Electric Mobility (GEMPL). The strengthening of leadership comes on the heels of highest-ever consolidated quarterly revenue of Rs 621 crore reported for the quarter ending 31 March, the engineering company said in a statement.

    With this announcement, the Greaves group leadership will move to a simpler and more focused structure, in line with the reorganisation of business carried out in 2021 to facilitate sustained growth, and led by Dr Arup Basu and Sanjay Behl. Both the leaders will report to MD and group CEO Nagesh Basavanhalli.

    In his role, Dr Basu will lead the development and execution of long-term strategies of GCL and will oversee implementation of overall corporate purpose and vision of GCL across engines and retail business. He brings over 30 years of experience in running manufacturing intensive businesses such as packaging (MD at Huhtamaki PPL) chemicals (president and CTO at Tata Chemicals), and automotive (Tata Motors).

    GEMPL, comprising e-scooters, e-rickshaw and e-auto segments, is one of the fastest growing businesses within the group accounting for 38 per cent of the overall revenue for the quarter ended 31 March, representing an annual YoY revenue growth of 251 per cent, according to the company.

    As CEO and executive director of GEMPL, Behl will focus on leading the accelerated growth of the electric mobility business. He comes with a rich experience in leading consumer facing businesses such as textiles (CEO of Raymond Ltd), broadcasting (CEO of Reliance Big TV) and technology (co-founder/CEO of Nextqore Inc).

    Commenting on the leadership appointments, Nagesh Basavanhalli said, “I am delighted to welcome Dr Arup Basu and Sanjay Behl into the leadership team of the Greaves Cotton group. Their immense experience in transforming and growing Indian businesses at global scale will help us accelerate our growth. Their leadership skills in building future facing organisations will help steer growth in their respective areas.”
