    Gameskraft powers Indian athletes across track, field, para and archery

    MUMBAI: When skill meets support, the scoreboard changes. That’s exactly what Gameskraft Foundation is banking on as it doubles down on India’s medal ambitions reaffirming partnerships with four key sporting foundations, the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), Anju Bobby Sports Foundation (ABSF), Gosports Foundation, and the Dola & Rahul Banerjee Sports Foundation (DRBSF).

    “Over the past few years, our partnerships have shown encouraging results,” said Rishi Wadhera, Vice President – Corporate Communications & CSR, Gameskraft. “It’s been heartening to see how consistent support can make a meaningful difference in the journeys of emerging athletes. Our focus remains on nurturing potential, building sustainable infrastructure, and supporting communities in their efforts to create future champions. These collaborations are a reflection of our continued commitment to contributing positively to India’s sporting ecosystem with a long-term vision and are grateful to our partners for their commitment.”

    Together, these collaborations form a medal-making machine supporting everything from para-athletes to archers and track stars, from grassroots training to global podiums.

    At IIS, the Foundation backs the Athletics Centre of Excellence, whose star pupil Neeraj Chopra took home Silver in Javelin at the 2024 Paris Olympics. At ABSF, a new academy is taking shape in Bengaluru to foster more future Shaili Singhs who leapt to Bronze in Long Jump at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships.

    Lauding the efforts of the Gameskraft Foundation and their long-term commitment to a robust sports-driven culture, Anju Bobby George, Founder of ABSF and India’s first medallist in the World Athletic Championship said, “Our association with Gameskraft Foundation has been anchored in a shared belief in long-term impact. The backing we’ve received is not just empowering for our training infrastructure but has been vital in inspiring young girls from small towns to dream bigger.”

    Gameskraft’s partnership with GoSports Foundation under the Para Champions Programme is a testament to inclusivity in sports. At the 2024 Paralympics, the results were golden literally with Sumit Antil and Dharambir grabbing Gold, Suhas Yethiraj securing Silver, and Rakesh Kumar bagging Bronze.

    In the archery arena, Deepika Kumari supported via DRBSF scored Bronze at the 2025 Archery World Cup, aiming true with Gameskraft in her corner.

    “For Indian sport to reach the success we aspire, it needs the coming together of more than just talent.     Mumbai: On 18 November 2024, Skechers concluded the fifth edition of its highly anticipated ‘Skechers Walkathon’ at Inorbit Mall, Malad, Mumbai. This year’s event brought together thousands of fitness enthusiasts and reinforced Skechers’ dedication to sports advancement by donating a portion of registration proceeds to the GoSports Foundation, supporting young Indian athletes.

    Bollywood star Ananya Panday and football legend Sunil Chhetri joined the event, alongside influencers like actress-veejay Gaelyn Mendonca and content creators Viraj Ghelani and Karan Sonwane. Their presence energised participants and underscored the spirit of community and fitness.

    The event, in collaboration with GoSports Foundation, reaffirms Skechers’ commitment to nurturing India’s sports talent.     The Skechers Walkathon featured three fitness categories: the 10 km-timed walk for seasoned participants, a five km-timed walk for those new to the sport, and a three km fun walk for families. The scenic route around Inorbit Mall included entertainment zones, enhancing the event’s atmosphere. Since its inception, the Skechers Walkathon has engaged an expanding community of fitness enthusiasts, cementing its place as a landmark event for health and community spirit in India, and promoting sportsmanship and empowerment for future athletes.

    Mumbai: Skechers, an American footwear brand, will be hosting the fifth edition of the Skechers Mumbai Walkathon at InOrbit Mall, Malad on 17 November 2024. This event celebrates the popular Skechers ‘go walk’ product line designed for walking.

    Registrations for the 2024 Walkathon are open until 8 November 2024 at www.skecherswalkathon.in. Skechers continues its partnership with GoSports Foundation, donating a portion of registration fees to support Indian athletes through the long-term athlete development programme.

    The event aims to build on last year’s success, which attracted over 8,000 participants, and reinforces Skechers’ commitment to promoting fitness and supporting the next generation of Indian athletes while contributing to the country’s sports culture.

    Skechers South Asia CEO Rahul Vira said, “Last year’s Walkathon demonstrated the remarkable impact Skechers can have on promoting an active lifestyle and supporting young athletes, as we saw significant community engagement and substantial contributions towards the development of India’s future sports stars.     Skechers India and GoSports Foundation aim to enhance Indian sports and wellness programs. Skechers has facilitated broad-based athlete support, including participation in international competitions, providing training equipment, and supporting mental and physical well-being initiatives. As a result, athletes in the program have achieved milestones in national and world championships.

    This year’s fifth edition of the Walkathon will feature several walking categories: a 10 km walk for experienced walkers, a five km walk for beginners, and a 3 km fun walk. These categories cater to various fitness levels, providing an enjoyable walking experience around the scenic route of InOrbit Mall, Malad.

    Mumbai: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) in partnership with NDTV launched ‘Samarth’ initiative for the awareness and enabling of people with disabilities in India. The initiative is aligned with Hyundai’s vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ that aims to enable an inclusive, progressive world through the power of mobility. Through this initiative, Hyundai and NDTV aim to help create a more aware and sensitised society towards people with disabilities.

    With up to 26.8 million differently abled people in India, Hyundai understood the need for creating awareness in the society towards disabilities. With the launch of ‘Samarth’, Hyundai Motor India is India’s first automobile company to launch an inclusive mobility project at a mass scale. With technology, partnerships, product innovations, and storytelling, ‘Samarth’ aims to turn the world into a level-playing field for all.

    Special thanks to the Wheeling Happiness Foundation who will facilitate six para-athletes to be supported by Hyundai in all their training and nourishment needs. The six select para-athletes are – Sheetal Devi, a para-archer, who is the reigning World Champion in Women’s Para-archery, Prachi Yadav, an award winning Para Canoer who won a gold and silver in women’s canoeing in the Women’s VL2 category at the Asian Para Games 2023, Abhishek Chamoli, A gold medalist in Para-Athletics Javelin & Shotput, Yogesh Kathuniya, Discus Throw champion from the 2020 Summer Paralympics, Simran Sharma, a national medal winning Para-shooter, and Lakshmi Jadala, an intellectually challenged lawn tennis player selected for the upcoming Australian Open.

    Commenting on the initiative, HMIL COO Tarun Garg said, “Aligning with Hyundai’s global commitment to ‘Progress for Humanity,’ we proudly unveil ‘Samarth’ in partnership with NDTV. This initiative focuses on empowering individuals with disabilities while drawing inspiration from Para-athletes.     The event was graced by the distinguished presence of notable personalities including Smriti Irani (Union Minister for Women and Child Development), Hardeep Singh Puri (Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs), Virendra Kumar (Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment), Nitin Gadkari (Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways), Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu (Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh), and Hemant Soren (Chief Minister of Jharkhand).

    Futhermore, the gathering was enriched by the presence of eminent individuals such as Padma Shri Dr Deepa Malik, President Paralympic Committee of India; Dr. Satendra Singh, Professor in the Department of Physiology at UCMS, GTB Hospital Delhi, and Co-chair of the International Council for Disability Inclusion in MedEd; Virali Modi, a Disability Rights Advocate and the Founder of #MyTrainToo, India’s pioneering wheelchair-using model; Tiffany Brar, another distinguished Disability Rights Advocate and Founder of the Jyothirgamaya Foundation; and Arman Ali, the esteemed Executive Director of the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP).

    For the next one year, HMIL and NDTV will advocate for inclusivity, reshape perceptions, and elevate the overall quality of life for individuals with disabilities.

    IndusInd Bank’s latest campaign celebrates the spirit of para-athletes

    Mumbai: IndusInd Bank, in collaboration with GoSports Foundation, has launched a brand new campaign to commemorate the achievements of its supported para-athletes across various sport disciplines. Christened ‘Phirse #JeetKaHalla’, the campaign speaks about the rigour of the preparation undertaken by our para-athletes, as they gear up to compete with the best in the world at an international arena.

    In 2016, IndusInd Bank had unveiled ‘#JeetKaHalla’ – a campaign to honour its para-athletes under the Para Champions Programme, and brought to light their contribution to the country by creating a nationwide movement of support. Retaining the essence of ‘JeetKaHalla’, the bank has also unveiled a heartwarming and inspiring film that showcases the grit and determination of these athletes. Conceived & ideated by RK Swamy BBDO partner & executive creative director Ankur Suman, produced by Films Rajendraa, and directed by Yogesh Agrawal, the anthem aims to inspire every Indian to cheer and support our para champions in their quest to bring laurels for the country.

    In a bid to give this initiative a wider reach, the bank has embarked on a comprehensive digital media campaign that will create the impact, and help in mobilising the momentum of seeking encouragement for these heroes.

    The Para Champions Programme was launched in the financial year 2015-2016 by the bank in partnership with the GoSports FoundatioN to support para-athletes across various sports disciplines. The programme currently supports 43 para-athletes across seven disciplines from 14 states across the country by helping them fulfil their nutrition, fitness & conditioning, medical support as well as domestic & international training requirements, said the statement.

    IndusInd Bank-supported para-athletes qualify for Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympic Games

    Mumbai: The 21 para-athletes who are part of the IndusInd Bank’s ‘Para Champions Programme’ will represent the country at the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games to be held in Tokyo between 24 August and 5 September. The programme was launched in 2015, in partnership with the GoSports Foundation with an objective to support para-athletes across various sports disciplines.

    These 21 athletes comprise nearly 40 per cent of the overall Indian contingent who will compete with the best in the world across disciplines such as javelin throw, shooting, swimming, archery, badminton, high jump and more.

    IndusInd Bank, through its non-banking sports vertical- ‘IndusInd for Sports’ supports programmes under the Corporate Social Responsibility Act 2013, that straddle the worlds of women athletes, able-bodied rural champions as well as elite para-athletes, with the sole purpose of bringing out the best in each of them.

    Speaking on the qualifications, IndusInd Bank head – commercial & rural banking & in-charge of IndusInd for Sports, Sanjeev Anand said, “It is a matter of great pride to witness 21 of the Bank’s supported Para Champions represent India at the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo. In fact, 40 per cent of the overall contingent that will represent the country are part of this programme, which itself, is a momentous achievement. We shall now wait to see them take centre stage with some of the best para-athletes across the globe, and wish them the very best for all their endeavours thereafter. Through our partnership with the GoSports Foundation, we aim to keep supporting all our para-athletes by providing them with the necessary resources in their quest to bring more laurels to the country.  We do hope that the initiative goes on to inspire many others by bridging social barriers, building social acceptance, and creating circles of excellence in the years to come.”

    The para-athletes supported by the bank and who will represent India at the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games across a wide range of para-disciplines such as badminton, archery, and javelin-throw include Rakesh Kumar, Sandeep Chaudhary, Sharad Kumar, Amit Kumar Saroha, Jyoti Baliyan among others.

    The programme currently supports 43 para-athletes across seven disciplines from 14 states across the country by helping them fulfill their nutrition, fitness & conditioning, medical support as well as domestic & international training requirements. The programme also takes care of expenses incurred towards coaching, competition fee, sports science, daily living expenses, equipment & gear, apparel, mentorship, among others, the bank said in a statement. “The narrative of para-sports has moved forward ever since the Rio Paralympics, and now entering its sixth term, the programme is also in alignment with several objectives of the SDGs to ensure sustainability and larger impact. Under this programme, the para-athletes have won a total of 615 medals until June 2021,” it added.
