  • Godrej Interio releases ‘Work From Home’ guide

Godrej Interio releases ‘Work From Home’ guide

MUMBAI:  Godrej Interio has announced the release of its exclusive guide: ‘Stay Healthy. Be Productive’ – a ‘Work From Home’ guide that reveals the challenges and solutions for the modern-day home-office setups.

With an unprecedented work-from-home (WFH) experiment setting in across Indian cities owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, professionals unused to working from home are finding a new work-life dynamic despite the technological and infrastructure challenges. The guide was released today by Godrej Interio as many more companies across a variety of sectors are going extra mile to provide viable WFH options for a, possibly, undefined period.

The guide will help professionals to improve their efficiency and productivity by working comfortably and avoiding unnecessary stress and injury. The right work environment at home will also help them avoid wrong postures and prevent MSDs (musculoskeletal disorders).

Godrej Interio COO Anil Mathur said: “The sedentary nature of modern office work, as well as the number of hours spent during work from home can cause adverse effects on workforce’s health. Advances in technology have made it easy to work remotely but adopting an incorrect posture while working at home can cause some serious health issues. People work with their laptop while sitting on the sofa, the bean bag, sitting cross-legged on the floor, and even while lying down. This may affect our musculoskeletal system. Basis these insights, we developed a work from home guide which talks about the importance to incorporate ergonomics into the home-office set up. Today’s modern workers needs are very different, and the home-office setup needs to provide them the enabling environment they need to be engaged. Ergonomic seating for the home seating is a way for individuals to know that when they take a break and decide to relax they avoid fatigue, muscle strain, and cramps. It will help them be highly efficient and productive.”

The newly released ‘Work From Home’ guide shared the following tips with the modern day professionals:

    ·         The right desk and chair – It is important to invest in ergonomic chairs and work desks that support different postures throughout the day. The chair that one invests in should have adjustable features to ensure maximum comfort, also having excellent lumbar support that is adjustable to keep the back straight. One needs to adjust the desk at the right height. An ideal set of proper positioning is when one can type on the keyboard with your elbows bent at around 90 degrees.

    ·         Clear desk (and environment) – Create a dedicated workspace for yourself to improve focus and reduce distractions. Ensure maximum comfort while working for long hours at a stretch.

    ·         Have the right accessories- Improper screen heights are a big reason for sore necks and related issues. One should make sure that the computer screen is in level with the users eyes, so one don’t have to drop your neck or slouch over to view it. The screen should also be at your arm’s length while typing on the keyboard. One may consider investing in a high quality laptop stand, an external keyboard and mouse to ensure proper posture at any time.

    ·         Smart props – To sit on the sofa or a bean bag for a short duration while working, one should maintain a proper position by placing cushions behind your back and beneath the laptop to raise it at the level of users eyes. Avoid slouching at any cost, as it may give rise to back pains and related issues.

    ·         Keep moving – One needs to make sure to move around a little while working for long periods of time. Take coffee breaks, go to the balcony and enjoy the tranquility outside, call a friend to chat a little, or check your mails from your mobile. Move around for a bit, before sitting down to work again. This is because sitting at the same posture for hours, even if one is using ergonomic seating arrangements, may put a lot of stress on body and mind. One can also practice some freehand exercises during the breaks to improve your blood circulation and stretch your muscles.

    ·         Try to stand and work – Standing and working for some time reduces the chance of backaches, improves concentration, and helps you work faster. It also aids in burning calories to some extent. One could convert the dresser, an ironing board, or a storage unit into a standing height workstation for shorter periods of time.

    ·         Lighting Choices – Ensure proper lighting in the room one is working in and keep the windows open to let in natural light. However, if one experiences any glare, one needs to draw the curtains or shut the blinds at right angles to the windows. While working at night, one may consider setting up a night lamp on your desk.

The e-commerce website provides a huge catalogue of products across multiple categories – Living Room furniture, bedroom furniture, dining sets, storages, mattresses and kitchens. Basis the demand and sales, Godrej Interio also plans to introduce selected online-only models to cater to a larger section of customers who love purchasing online. Commenting on the launch, Godrej Interio chief operating officer Anil Mathur says, “With design thinking and innovation at the core of our business, Godrej Interio has transformed lives through design, customer centricity and cutting-edge technology, and the latest service offering of launching an e-commerce website is a prime example of it. We are the largest furniture player in India with more than 300+ exclusive stores and 1200+ dealer network spanning over 650 cities in India. Our e-commerce platform is an extension of our offline networks and it provides an additional touchpoint for customers to experience and explore our products.”

Commenting on growth strategy further Mathur further said “We have not launched our website for a pure e-commerce play, but more to maintain an omnichannel presence. Currently, we barely get 1 per cent of our business from online through marketplaces; but with our website in place, we aim to increase the share of online to 10 per cent in the next two years. Currently, we get almost 65 per cent of our revenues from beyond just the tier 1 markets with a huge 52 per cent from upcountry locations. We are growing at a CAGR of 15 per cent over the last couple of years, compared to the market growth rate of 7-8 per cent”

According to RedSeer Consulting, the online furniture market in India grew at a CAGR of approximately 80-85 per cent to reach approximately $310 million in FY19 as compared to $104 million in FY17, and is likely to touch $700 million in FY20. With the advent of international players, highly unorganized furniture market in India is expected to get more organized and increasingly move towards omnichannel business. Also, with the plethora of categories available, and boundaries between furniture and furnishing markets blurring, the future is exciting for the furniture industry in India

  • Godrej Interio’s ‘Make Space For Life’ study reveals 61% Indians do not pursue their passion

Godrej Interio’s ‘Make Space For Life’ study reveals 61% Indians do not pursue their passion

MUMBAI: Godrej Interio, India’s leading furniture and interior solutions brand, today unveiled its new campaign – Make Space For Life. Launched by popular TV actress Divyanka Tripathi, Make Space for Life aims to highlight that in pursuit of professional excellence people feel they are losing out significantly on creating strong family tiesor spending quality time with friends.

A recent national survey by Godrej Interio conducted highlighted practicality trumps passion for a majority of Indians. The survey also found that most Indian acknowledged the failure to find balance and time for their family, friends and passion.

Subodh Mehta, Senior Vice President, B2C, Godrej Interio, said “Make Space for Life” campaign reflects on the importance of work-life balance dynamics in the lives of Indians. “The idea of making space for life has a particular resonance for Indians, not merely in the physical sense, but in terms of the pressures and obligations, we face every day. As per our survey findings, with the pressure of work, technology, and daily routine Indians find less time and opportunities for themselves, family bonding and their passions. Misuse of new-age technology plays an important role in escalation of this trend. Such insights also reflect work-life balance dynamics in the lives of Indians. As a brand, Godrej Interio makes a conscious effort to enliven homes through its innovative furniture designs and urges Indians to make more time for their hobbies, or their families by making space for life passion, family and friends,” he said.

Resonating with the findings of the survey and extending her support to the campaign, Popular TV actress Divyanka Tripathi said, “People mostly see the glitters from the life of a celebrity and often miss to understand the tireless effort which goes behind it. As an individual who has travelled excessively and led a hectic lifestyle owing to the professional commitments, I have, at times, felt it’s a challenge to strike a work-life balance. Thus, it’s extremely difficult to take out time and spend good time with my family and friends, and devote time to my hobbies as much as I would want to. However, now I make conscious efforts to make space for life, passion and family.  I urge people to work towards building a healthier work-life balance.”

The study revealed that more than 61% of respondents do not have time to spend on their passions and as many people feel that they are not able to dedicate enough time to their passion due to family responsibilities.

Additionally, 40% of the respondents feel that they are not able to dedicate enough time to their passion due to monetary concerns. Also, a staggering 72% of the respondents feel that their partner pays more attention to their smart devices than them.

The survey was conducted with 1300 Indians living across 13 cities including Chandigarh, Mumbai, Jaipur, Patna, Coimbatore, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kanpur.

  • Over 93 per cent of Indians are sleep deprived: Godrej Interio report

Over 93 per cent of Indians are sleep deprived: Godrej Interio report

MUMBAI: A recent study conducted by Godrej Interio reveals that over 93 per cent of Indians are sleep deprived and sleeping post 10 pm is clinically declared as an inappropriate time and it triggers a change in the sleeping pattern that leads to sleep deprivation. This is irrespective of the number of hours of sleep.

The study was conducted across 8000 Indians living across the metros. Godrej Interio launched the ‘sleep@10’ campaign last year that focuses on addressing the rising concern over sleep deprivation in India.

    https://wetransfer.com/downloads/f53d66ac9d1b5c5b50d043720dfd294120180316121752/39537e5fd5d492987845af0bf63bb7db20180316121752/71779a

The study is based on the insights sourced from 1.5 lakh Indians by taking their sleep test on the sleep-o-meter hosted on the sleep@10 website (www.sleepat10.com).

The study found that Mumbai is the most sleep deprived city in India and nine out of every ten respondents felt dull after they wake up. Around 64 per cent of the respondents admitted that “screen time”, including television and phone, could be delaying their sleep time while 55 per cent of the respondents said they slept after midnight while the ideal time would be around 10 pm.

Prominent lifestyle changes in adults seem to be a compelling reason for sleep deprivation. The data reveals representational region wise study with respect to respondents from metros, tier I and II cities. The insights garnered about Mumbai respondents from the research says that 95 per cent very rarely sleep at 10 pm whereas 35 per cent respondents sleep after 12 am and 34 per cent sleep less than 6 hours.

In Delhi, 72 per cent respondents very rarely sleep at 10 pm whereas 14.36 per cent sleep after 12 am and 30.4 per cent sleep less than 6 hours. In tier III cities, only 13 per cent respondents sleep at 10 per cent whereas 35 per cent sleep less than 6 hours while only 6 per cent feel fresh and are ready to face the world after waking up.

The study further revealed that the problem of not sleeping on time wasn’t only restricted to adults but kids as well wherein only 90 per cent of respondents below 18 years sleep after 10 pm leading to sleep deprivation on a rampant rise among the next generation.

Godrej Interio launched the #SleepJasoos campaign leading up to World Sleep Day on 16 March. As part of the contest, participants captured and posted pics/videos of family, colleagues and friends snoozing at odd hours and places. Over 3 lakh members of digital communities participated in this campaign and it received a great response by nationally generating over 19 million impressions on Twitter. Later the activity was extended to Facebook by sharing it with the influencer communities.

According to the sleep-o-meter data, collected by a survey conducted by Godrej Interio, the sleep@10 website reveals that for the respondents between 18-25 age group, 29 per cent go to sleep between 12 midnight to 2am while 58 per cent rarely sleep at 10pm which is an apt time to sleep. Amongst respondents between 26-54 age group 36 per cent get less than 6 hours of sleep while only 8 per cent respondents are able to sleep at 10 pm. For the respondents above the age of 55, 41 per cent sleep after 10 pm but before 12am while 40.4 per cent rarely/never sleep at 10 pm.

A living example of discipline and healthy living leading to success, Phogat spoke about the importance of sleep@10 in her life. She shared instances of her father drawing a strict regime for her and her sisters and one of them being sleeping early by 10pm and getting up by 4am.

Expressing her appreciation to the vital issue, Phogat said, “Athletes need immense discipline owing to the high-octane physical activities that we engage in. Sleeping@10 was non-negotiable in my house. My father ensured we all slept by then.
