    HBO lines up X’mas treat for viewers

    MUMBAI: Come December, people don their party hats to usher in the New Year. From decorations on the streets, lighting, singing Christmas carols to gorging on the diverse range of cakes, this month of the year is much awaited by one and all. To add to this devil-may-care season, English entertainment channel HBO has planned a power packed December with the best Hollywood blockbusters.

     

    The lineup titled as Rewind 2015 starts from 7 December to 31 December, 2015 and will air from Monday to Thursday in the prime time slot of 9 pm.

     

    The star studded action packed movies for this campaign include blockbuster movies like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers Age of Extinction, Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, Ghost Rider, Riddick, Noah and Interstellar to name a few.

     

    The channel will promote the property mostly on-air via promos with digital support and trade. “We believe in providing the best to our viewers. This is our yet another endeavour for our audience to give them an extra reason to celebrate Christmas with more elation. We are already experiencing a lot of buzz about this campaign across all the social platforms. We strive to stick to our vision of keeping the audience entertained with our blockbuster lineup,” says a channel spokesperson.

     

    The campaign is also being promoted on all social media platforms via fun facts, trivia and contests. As far as the marketing strategies for this campaign goes, HBO has chosen the off-air marketing route, which includes digital promotion on the channel’s Facebook and Twitter pages with promoted posts and a contest. The channel will also be releasing a trade mailer.

     

    “The advertisers were quite impressed with our concept and have been a good support to us. We hope and expect that through this initiative, we will go that extra mile to get a smile on the faces on our loyal viewers,” adds another channel spokesperson.

     

    The channel’s property will also be promoted on Instagram.

     

    “I always watch HBO because of the bouquet of various movie genres, which makes my evening lively. I look forward to what HBO is going to offer us this Christmas special,” says a loyal media follower.

     

    However, HBO is not planning any on-ground or print marketing campaigns and will majorly focus on the metro and non-metro cities through the fans that are available on Facebook and Twitter.

    MUMBAI: This May, Star Movies Action brings you the best of superhero movies to your homes. The channel announced the fantastic lineup of superhero movies including Spiderman 1 & 2, Ghost Rider and Iron Man 3 to be aired on on Sunday  11 May, 2014. The event called  “Superhero Sunday” will have the superhero franchise converging on one platform with super-human action at its definitive level.
     

    Ghost Rider (1pm) – When a motorcycle-riding stuntman offers his soul to Mephistopheles in order to save the life of the one he loves most, he is forced to play host to a powerful supernatural entity whose flaming skull visage strikes fear into the heart of his enemies in this feature-film version of the long-running comic series. By day, Johnny Blaze (actor and comic-book devotee Nicolas Cage) is one of the world’s best-known stuntmen, but when the sun goes down and he is in the presence of evil, the death-defying daredevil bursts into flames to become the indestructible, motorcycle-riding antihero known to the world as the Ghost Rider.

     
    Spider Man (3pm)  –  Spider Man is a 2002 American superhero film directed by Sam Raimi. Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, the film stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, a high-school student who when bitten by a genetically modified spider gains spider-like abilities that he eventually must use to fight evil as a superhero after tragedy befalls his family.

     
    Spider Man 2 (6pm)- The sequel to the 2002 film Spider-Man, it is the second film in Raimi’s Spider-Man film trilogy. Set two years after the events of Spider-Man, the film focuses on Peter Parker struggling to manage both his personal life and his duties as Spider-Man, while Dr. Otto Octavius (Doctor Octopus) becomes diabolical following a failed experiment and his wife’s death. He uses his mechanical tentacles to threaten and endanger the lives of New York City’s residents. Spider-Man must stop him from annihilating the city.

     
    Iron Man 3 (8pm) – Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
     

    Speaking on the occasion Star India General Manager – English channels Kevin Vaz said, “We have always seen a demand of superhero movies every summer. This year we have a selection of all- time favorite superhero movies on one day consecutively so that our audience can engage with their favorite characters all day long. We have also initiated Superhero Contest for our viewers who get an opportunity to win original Marvel merchandise during the movie broadcasts.”
     

    The channel is giving its viewers a chance to win exclusive Superhero merchandise by watching their favorite superhero movies and answering simple questions via SMS. 100 winners will be given Original Marvel merchandize throughout the day with this contest.
     

    Star Movies Action, India’s biggest action movie channel is dedicated to bringing the best of Action movie line-up from Hollywood. The channel was launched in June 2013 keeping in mind the action movie buffs, making it the first action movie channel in the English movie category in India.     MUMBAI: Mark Steven Johnson’s Ghost Rider™ starring Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes, raked in $44.5M on its opening weekend (Friday 16th Feb – Sunday 18th Feb) at the North American box-office . Averaging a scorching $12,296 from 3,619 locations, the film which is based on the popular Marvel Comics character , opened higher than the $35.1M bow of National Treasure, Cage’s previous best opening.

    The visual effects-driven Ghost Rider ™ notched up one-third of all ticket sales for the weekend gone by and delivered Hollywood’s biggest opening for 2007.

    Ghost Rider™ opens across India on February 23rd, 2007 with over 200 prints and will be dubbed in Hindi (“Mahakaal”) , Tamil and Telugu. This is Hollywood’s first wide release in India in 2007.

  • Sony Pictures Imageworks picks up equity in FrameFlow

    BANGALORE: US based Sony Pictures Imageworks (SPI) has announced an equity investment in renowned visual effects and animation studio FrameFlow, which has its production operation in Chennai. As part of the deal, FrameFlow will become Imageworks India and will work seamlessly with Sony Pictures Imageworks’ main production facility in Culver City, California.

    The newly named entity expects to quadruple its workload in the coming years and deepen its capabilities through investments in infrastructure, technology and training from Sony Pictures Imageworks. Imageworks India also plans a significant growth in its current talent base of 80 employees. To accommodate anticipated expansion, Imageworks India will relocate to a larger office in Chennai with a seating capacity of up to 300.

     

    “We are extremely excited to announce this partnership with Sony Pictures Imageworks, an Academy Award-winning visual effects and animation facility. We are deeply honored to be chosen to join the Imageworks family.
