    Onefootball bags English Premier League digital streaming rights for India

    MUMBAI: Football app Onefootball has bagged the digital streaming rights package within India for the English Premier League (EPL) covering the next three seasons – 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19.

     

    Additionally, sports radio station talkSPORT, which is the global audio partner of the Premier League, has also reached agreement with radio broadcasters and streaming companies in Ghana, Nigeria and Australia to carry talkSPORT’s live English Premier League audio commentary throughout the three football seasons.

     

    Citi FM in Ghana and Nigeria’s Nigeria Info are long-standing partners of talkSPORT who have each been awarded rights packages for a further three seasons.

     

    Eon Sports Radio is a new sports radio network, which plans to launch nationally in Australia in 2016 with a entertaining blend of original and licensed sports programming. As well as EPL audio rights, talkSPORT has also agreed to share other programming content with Eon Sports Radio, to include sports talk, interviews and features from talkSPORT’s award-winning UK output.

     

    As global audio partner of the Premier League, talkSPORT controls an exclusive package of international audio rights  until 2019, allowing the station to broadcast official live commentary of all 380 Barclays Premier League matches in any language to listeners around the world outside of the UK and Republic of Ireland.

     

    talkSPORT’s international tender process for the 2016-17 – 2018-19 seasons is continuing, with further licensing rounds scheduled in various key territories during December.

    Dentsu strengthens presence in West Africa; acquires two agencies in Ghana

    MUMBAI: In a bid to strengthen its position in West Africa, Dentsu Aegis Network has acquired two Ghana based media agencies namely Adams Media Ghana Limited and Premier Media Company GH Limited.

     

    The acquisition, which will take the form of the purchase by Dentsu Aegis Network of a 59.62 per cent shareholding in Adams Media, with Premier Media as a wholly owned subsidiary of Adams Media, will strengthen the Dentsu Group’s presence in West Africa.

     

    Adams Media was founded in 2009 and Premier Media in 1999, and both companies provide services to a large number of multinational clients. After acquisition of the shareholding by Dentsu Aegis Network, Adams Media will be rebranded Carat, and Premier Media rebranded Vizeum, collectively forming Dentsu Aegis Network Ghana.

     

    Carat and Vizeum are two of the Dentsu Group’s eight global network brands. Both Adams Media and Premier Media have extensive mass media and digital media planning and buying capabilities, and these will be fully utilized in the provision of cutting-edge media solutions by the new entity.

     

    In terms of economic scale, Ghana is second only to Nigeria in West Africa, and the International Monetary Fund has estimated that Ghana will achieve GDP growth of from 3.5 to 9.2 per cent between 2015 and 2020. Together with Media Fuse, the Nigerian company with which Dentsu Aegis Network entered into a joint venture agreement in August 2014, Dentsu Aegis Network Ghana will function as the Group’s hub in West Africa and Central Africa.

    WPP launches MEC in Ghana

    MUMBAI: WPP’s media agency has opened a new office in Accra, Ghana.

     

    This comes less than six months after the agency opened the doors to its Sub-Saharan network headquarter in Kenya. MEC Ghana will support and strengthen MEC’s offer in the region.

     

    MEC Ghana launches with a team of 10 and with Eva Nyakianda at the helm as managing director. She will work closely with the team in Kenya as well as with MEC’s international team, Global Solutions, in London.

     

    MEC Global Solutions client president Allison Coley said, “The new office in Ghana strengthens MEC’s position in the Sub-Saharan region. It’s an expansion of our offer that will provide consistency and continued growth for both our clients and our agency.
