Ghadi tackles vaccine hesitancy in its latest ad film

MUMBAI: India launched the world’s largest Covid-19 vaccination programme on 16 January 2021, to protect its eligible adult population. But misguided hesitancy and misinformation about vaccines continues to pose a substantial threat to the spread of the pandemic. Ghadi decided to do its bit, as a responsible national brand, to tackle these rumours and fake news through a hard-hitting film  that delivers the message simply and effectively.

Teeka Umeed Ka’ (A vaccine of hope ) is a clarion call from the detergent brand that proves vaccines not only offer a way out of the pandemic, but they are a ray of hope for all of us in these tough times. The challenge was to stay relevant and sound as true as possible because the aim was not just to spread awareness but to encourage people to overcome vaccine hesitancy and get inoculated, said the brand.

The film was directed by Pradeep Sarkar, and scripted and executed by ADK-Fortune Communications, a WPP company and part of Wunderman Thompson South Asia Group.

Speaking about the initiative, RSPL joint managing director, Rahul Gyanchandani said, “Ghadi being the leader brand in its category has always taken a lead in issues concerning social change. The pandemic is a challenge like no other for each one of us. And with this campaign, our attempt is to convince people that vaccination is the only way to a brighter future.”

Elaborating on how the campaign has fared, ADK-Fortune Communications VP and ECD Nakul Sharma, commented, “The idea was to craft a hard-hitting and non-preachy message. We are overjoyed by the initial response and hope that this initiative by Ghadi detergent motivates people to go for their TeekaUmeedKa.”

Ghadi wears a mask to say prevention is better than cure

NEW DELHI: What is the simplest thing anyone can do to protect themselves and their loved ones from the pandemic that is raging across the country and the world? The answer lies in remembering to wear a mask every time we step out. Yet, this simple message has either not reached everybody or is simply being ignored or forgotten.

Ghadi detergent has decided not just to reach out and remind millions but walk the talk themselves.

In an initiative conceptualised and executed by ADK Fortune Communications, a WPP company and part of Wunderman Thompson South Asia Group, the most powerful and effective medium was used to drive this message home – the Ghadi detergent pack. The pack reaches millions of Indian households, even in areas where the reach of TV and other mass media is extremely limited. So, to spread awareness and reach the maximum number of households, the Ghadi pack was utilised.

Ghadi covered its logo (the very face of the brand) across its entire range of detergents, with a printed mask to remind and inspire people to wear a mask. And emblazoned on every pack is the message: Bachaav Mein Hi Samajhdaari Hain (It makes sense to save yourself), to underline the importance of putting on masks to check the spread of the Coronavirus.

To further scale up this message, Ghadi supported this initiative with a digital film directed by Pradeep Sarkar. It shows a young girl in a shop who makes her father realise that the best way to show you care is by wearing a mask – just like the pack itself. Produced by Apocalypso Filmworks Pvt Ltd, the film will be released across India in five regional languages with a full-blown PR and social media campaign.

RSPL joint MD Rahul Gyanchandani said, “As a category leader, Ghadi has always believed in making a positive impact. In these troubled times, using our pack and then extending the campaign to other mediums seemed like the best way to bring about a change in behaviour and further build upon our connection with our massive consumer base.”

ADK Fortune Communications VP & ECD Nakul Sharma commented, “It started as a small idea; a unique way of connecting with the consumer. But with the client backing it fully, this initiative by Ghadi is now actually impacting people and their thinking. For Ghadi, this is just the beginning. We truly want our mask-wearing initiative to become the starting point of a mass movement.”

In the coming days, Ghadi plans to distribute 10 lakh masks across India for free.

  • Covid2019 did not upset top brands’ growth: Kantar report

Covid2019 did not upset top brands’ growth: Kantar report

NEW DELHI: According to Kantar’s Brand Footprint 2020 report, brands including Parle, Amul, Clinic Plus, Britannia and Ghadi emerged as the topmost chosen brands in the country in 2019. The report is an annual ranking of FMCG brands based on the Consumer Reach Points the brands scored in a year. The report is in its eighth edition this year.

Brand Footprint 2020 follows CRP based ranking which considers the actual purchase made by the consumers and the frequency at which these purchases are made in a year.

According to the report, scoring the highest CRP (million) at 6029 with a 12 per cent increase, Parle ranked first, which was followed by Amul at 4,632 CRP (million) and 17 per cent increase, Clinic Plus at 4,514 CRP (million) with 32 per cent increase, Britannia at 4,215 CRP (million) with a 29 per cent increase and Ghadi at 2,438 CRP (million) with a 12 per cent increase.

The report further highlighted that this year five new brands made it to the Billion CRP Club including Dabur, Vim, Sunfeast, Brooke Bond and Patanjali and 21 brands joined this group in 2019 compared to 16 in both 2018 and 2017.

Consumers made significantly more choices this year leading to a significantly better CRP performance by brands – 57 per cent brands record growing CRPs and bigger brands find better growth and follow the golden rule, brands grow faster by growing penetration. Colgate stands at the highest penetrated brand at 88 per cent, as per the report.

In the foods category, Britannia is the second-most chosen brand, seventh-highest penetrated brand with a household penetration at 67.6 per cent. Aashirvaad saw a surge with 4 per cent penetration increase and +55 per cent CRP growth.

Dabur as a brand came out strong in personal care and foods category with 34 per cent increase in CRP growth, making it the fifth-most chosen beauty and health brand in India with a 70 per cent per cent household penetration.

“Consumer reach points are a great way to measure and rank brands as it is a measure of the number of opportunities a brand has, to interact with a consumer. It is great to see consistent validation for the fact that if you build penetration, frequency and growth follow. This has really been a year of global brands in terms of their higher growth than others. Like these, this year’s report has a lot of interesting nuggets to derive a lot of information and insights on top the behaviour of consumers towards brands in the last year,” Kantar MD- south Asia, worldpanel division K Ramakrishnan said.

The report concluded that 2020 is the year of global brands and for the brands that focused on reaching more targets were the clear winners. It also said that Covid2019 did not upset the top brands’ growth.

  • Ghadi detergent launches new campaign for Diwali

Ghadi detergent launches new campaign for Diwali

MUMBAI: Ghadi has always believed in provoking its consumers to be more socially conscious and aware.

Its campaign, #SaareMaelDhoDaalo has become synonymous with cleaning which goes beyond clothes. The campaign has not only made its way into the hearts of people, but the efforts towards initiating a social change also resulted in the campaign winning the Effie Awards 2017 amongst many others.

In the past 2 years, Ghadi identified 3 key festivals of India and decided to propagate its philosophy of #SaareMaelDhoDaalo. It urged people to cleanse their minds of this deep-seated filth. Every single time, it identified and addressed a new notion of the mind and showed a mirror to the society.

Continuing with the idea, the new campaign around Diwali tackles another kind of ‘mael’. This time, Ghadi urges its consumers to give each profession its due respect and not to belittle people for what they do.

The TVC takes place inside every proverbial Indian household, where the domestic help is taken for granted. Their efforts and sacrifices go unnoticed. Often, their work is considered as “menial”. The TVC advocates the cleansing of this ‘mael’ through the story of a teenager. We see him constantly admonishing the maid’s efforts, until his mother asks him to step into her shoes. The lesson he learns is a lesson for us all. The campaign requests us to realise that no work is small. It urges people to realise the worth of every work that comes their way and understand the importance of people in their lives.

ADK Fortune National Creative Director Akashneel Dasgupta says, “In continuation with our campaign, this is yet another aspect that we are trying to address. To restore dignity of work, whatever be the nature of it. This, we hope, will further strengthen Ghadi’s cleansing credentials in the minds of people.”

The film has been conceptualised by ADK Fortune and executed by Full Circle Films.
