    Media veteran Sulina Menon joins Rise India Chapter’s advisory board

    MUMBAI: Sulina Menon, a seasoned professional with over 37 years of experience in advertising and communications, has joined the advisory board of Rise India Chapter. Rise is a global organisation committed to fostering gender diversity in the broadcast and media technology sector, with initiatives such as its award-winning mentoring program, the Rise Awards, and the Rise Up Academy that inspires the next generation.

    Having served as a mentor at Rise for the past two years, Sulina expressed her excitement about contributing further to the organization’s mission to empower women and promote inclusivity. 

    She remarked, “Being part of this transformative journey is an honor.”

    Sulina’s career spans leadership roles across major advertising agencies, broadcasters, and brands, including Zee group, Carat Media, Cheil, Starcom, and Omnicom group. Her extensive portfolio includes work with globally renowned brands like Airtel, Gillette, Nestlé, Samsung, Dabur, and Levi’s, where she helped shape impactful brand strategies.

    An ICF-approved Grow More Coach, Sulina is also passionate about mentoring high-performing individuals and leaders, offering strategic counsel to help them overcome challenges and realize their potential. Known for her empathetic and intuitive coaching style, she combines deep industry knowledge with a results-driven approach to foster growth and innovation. She currently runs her own consultancy Media Power and has been doing so for the past three years or so. 

    As a new advisory board member, Sulina aims to leverage her expertise to further Rise’s mission of creating a more inclusive industry and inspiring the next generation of leaders.

    News18 SheShakti 2024 honours women leaders driving India’s transformation

    Mumbai: The 2024 edition of News18 SheShakti Summit celebrated the achievements of women leaders who broke barriers, pursued excellence, and elevated India’s stature globally. Held in New Delhi, the summit featured visionary women leaders, policymakers, and changemakers, including Jagdeep Dhankhar, VP of India, Justice D Y Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, and Justice Indu Malhotra, Retired Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

    Among the distinguished speakers were Kirron Kher (Actor & Former MP), Bhumi Pednekar (Actor), Padma Bhushan Usha Uthup (Singer), Nigar Shaji (Project Director for ISRO’s Aditya mission), and Lakshmi M Puri (Former UN Assistant Secretary-General & Ambassador of India), who shared their inspiring stories alongside other influential women leaders.

    In a special address, President of India, Droupadi Murmu emphasised the importance of women’s empowerment, safety, and struggles. She said, “Women are, in fact, the true manifestation of power. The real strength of our nation lies in the empowerment of women. Our women have always demonstrated resilience, strength, and courage, moving forward despite all obstacles.”

    Chief Justice of India, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, addressed the audience by highlighting issues facing women today and the broader societal need for equal opportunities and dignity. He remarked, “But stringent laws alone do not make for a just society. Above all we need to change our mindset,”

    VP of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, delivered a poignant speech, saying, “There must be evolution of mechanism, which includes for women…. Some people have the audacity to call women weaker sex. They are terribly wrong. What happened over the ages has to change. Democracy is made for those who are vulnerable, challenged and those who need handholding. You need to access opportunities and have full control over your life.”

    The event concluded with an enthralling performance by Padma Bhushan Usha Uthup.

    Reckitt, UN Women join hands for betterment of women in India

    Mumbai: UN Women and Reckitt have come together to create economic opportunities for women in the health, hygiene and sanitation sectors with a commitment to promote gender equality, diversity and inclusion as well as the incorporation of the highest standards of governance.

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by UN Women India, country representative, Susan Ferguson and Reckitt, senior vice president – South Asia, Gaurav Jain.

    With this partnership, the global consumer health and hygiene company will engage with two billion people through its programmes, partnerships, and campaigns. Each brand is driven by this purpose and is responsible for improving lives through education and providing access to the highest-quality health, hygiene and sanitation, said Reckitt in a media statement.

    “Women are the real catalysts of change. We must act as an enabler and catalyst to mentor them and create a more balanced environment,” said Jain during the signing event. “We, at Reckitt are happy to further strengthen our efforts in this direction with UN Women on this one-of-a-kind partnership to support women in our society to become resilient. This partnership aims to equip women with life skills like decision-making, and entrepreneurial opportunities in the health, hygiene, and sanitation sectors. Together, with UN women, we share the common goal of addressing the educational imbalance, gender inequality, and hygiene for all.”

    “UN Women and Reckitt are committed to improving women’s access to better health and hygiene and decent jobs for women, which is an urgent need in India,” said Ferguson. “Women and girls have been badly affected by Covid-19, so helping the most marginalised find decent jobs in sanitation and hygiene services is an important step towards improving women’s lives.”

    Reckitt has introduced several initiatives in marginalised districts of India that the government has categorised as “aspirational” and deserving of particular support. The initiatives cover areas of hygiene, health, and sanitation for women including its support for the Harpic World Toilet College, Dettol Hygiene Impact Bonds as well Dettol Banega Swasth India (India for Health) initiative, and Harpic Mission Paani.
