    MUMBAI: Network 18 recently announced the appointment of Praveen Swami as a group consulting editor and Gaurav Kalra as a networksports editor. On his role, Swami will work across platforms, writing in digital and appearing as a resident commentator on TV and Kalra will look after the coverage across brands and platforms and also oversee the task of positioning and expanding CricketNext.com as the foremost hub for cricket enthusiasts.

    Prior to Network 18 Swami worked with Indian Express were he was the strategic affairs editor and produced both reportage and analytical commentary on a range of stories related to regional security and geo-strategies. Swami has also worked with The Hindu were he wasresident editor and strategic affairs editor. He is an acclaimed writer having authored two books – An Informal War: India, Pakistan and the Secret Jihad in Jammu and Kashmir and The Kargil War.

    Kalra was at ESPNCricinfo as a senior editor. He was also the sports editor at CNN-IBN from 2005 and 2013. He started his career in 1997 with the UK based sports production company Trans World International.

    The Hyundai Cricjockey 2 powered by ESPNcricinfo, will be a multi-phased contest open for fans to submit their entries on the CricJockey website – www.hyundaicricjockey.com by submitting an analysis/commentary on a match scenario identified by the ESPNcricinfo editorial. The best entries from the contestants stand to win goodies every day and will be featured on the CricJockey website.

    Apart from the online edition, the contest will also see an on-ground element with a 4 city ground event at Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune where cricket fanatics will submit their entries along with the extensive digital promotion.

    MUMBAI: ESPNcricinfo, the world’s leading digital cricket brand seems to be strengthening its digital team. It has brought on board TV journalist Gaurav Kalra as the Senior Editor for the emerging video editorial and a part of the content development group.

     

    Kalra, who joins ESPN from CNN-IBN, will work with ESPNcricinfo’s in-house digital video production teams and acclaimed editorial team to continue to grow and develop the brand’s use of high-quality video in their journalism and storytelling, as well as original analysis and programming. Kalra will report to Editor of ESPNcricinfo Sambit Bal.

    Kalra will be based out of ESPN’s Bangalore office, where ESPNcricinfo also unveiled a new studio and control room built to enhance the production capabilities and quality for the site.
