    Parle Krackjack launches TV campaign with new sweet and salty avatars

    Mumbai: Parle Products, the largest selling biscuit brand has released its latest campaign for KrackJack. This latest iteration of the Parle Krackjack campaign adds to the legacy of a brand that has been loved by the nation for over half a century. It carries forward the same set of delightfully whacky ideas to a new generation of Krackjack connoisseurs.

    The three-film campaign created by Thought Blurb Communications tells stories of conundrums that are solved in hilarious ways by the two protagonists, Krack (played by Dharmesh Yelande) and Jack (played by Raghav Juyal). They have different sweet and salty perspectives, that brings alive the idea- “Sweet and Salty saath jab aaye, baat ban jaaye”.

    The over-the-top style of humour follows a legacy that was started in the 90s with Boman Irani and Vijay Patkar playing the titular roles. The torch then passed on to Swapnil Joshi and Gaurav Gera in the noughties, and after a decade, Krackjack has now found renewed vigour with Raghav Juyal and Dharmesh Yelande.

    Parle Products senior category head Mayank Shah has spoken about Krackjack and the direction it has taken over the years, “Krackjack is the first biscuit in India to find that magical spot in the consumer’s palate with a flavour that tickles sweet and salty taste buds. When the flavour is so out-of-the ordinary, how can its communication not be unusual? Over the years, the characters Krack & Jack, have endeared themselves to audiences across the country. Every new generation resonates with these sweet and salty characters. Dharmesh and Raghav are new age celebrities with a wide fan following among the youth. When we got the brief we were clear that we have to carry forward the torch to the next generation of audiences across India. Evidenced by the viewer responses we have received, the execution seems to have hit the bull’s eye. The dash of rollicking humour coating the films make them entirely enjoyable.”

That kind of dictated the tone and tenor of the campaign. In one of the brain storming sessions when the strategy team came up with the idea of ‘contrarian views working towards a common goal’ we knew we had our campaign. This in turn finds resonance in the claim – ‘sweet aur salty saath jab aaye, baat ban jaaye’. The fun part was working with the film crew to get Dharmesh and Raghav to work in tandem to translate this strange combination of diametrically opposite views. We wanted the viewers to have fun, and I think that has come out quite well.”

    The campaign is released in 12 languages across mediums.

    The Q announces influencer-led comedy show ‘Hasi Ka Hahakaar’

    Mumbai: Hindi GEC The Q has announced its first original for the year “Hasi Ka Hahakaar” with Gaurav Gera as the host. Premiering on 22 January, the scripted reality comedy series will feature popular comedy influencers and artists as guests. The show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m and 10 p.m.

    “Hasi Ka Hahakaar” will give viewers and Gaurav Gera fans an opportunity to see him in a different avatar in each episode along with his Man-Friday and co-actor Sandesh Nayak playing the character of Khurram Bhopali. The show will give popular comedy entertainers and influencers from the digital world an opportunity to be on television alongside Gera, bolstering the overall comedy quotient, said the channel in a statement.

    Each episode will have a special segment with comedians Kettan Singh, Ankita Srivastav, Ishtiyak Khan and Mubeen Saudagar joining the host. Their engagement with emerging comedy influencers on-air will further the brand’s proposition of providing a platform for digital talent on national television, it added.

    Speaking on the launch of the new show, The Q programming head Tanya Shukla said, “Given the external environment and the volatile times we are living in, the comedy genre has naturally cemented its position in the minds of viewers. Hasi Ka Hahakaar is India’s first large-scale influencer-led comedy show on television.     When it comes to animation films, our filmmakers usually fall back on Indian mythology probably thinking that the viewer will be familiar with the story already. Few, if ever, attempt a theme outside the myth such as the recent one MotuPatlu: King Of Kings.

    Mahayoddha Rama adopts a different approach in that this tale has been told from Ravan’s perspective who wants to destroy Rama, the avatar of Lord Vishnu, prophesied to be his doom. The approach is comical with a dash of martial art.

    As the story goes here, Ravan has been trying to get rid of Rama since his childhood and trying every trick from sending a tiger to kill Rama to sending his sister Surpankha to lure him and brother Laxman.

    Ravan’s 10 heads are the funny part of the film as each head has a different voice. While the main head has the voice of Gulshan Grover to go with his villain image, the rest are voices of Roshan Abbas, Gaurav Gera, Kiku Sharda, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and Amin Sayani, and others. One of the heads of Ravan also keeps chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ frequently!

    Kunal Kapoor has done the voiceover for Rama, Jimmy Shergill for Laxman and Suchitra Pillai for Surpankha.

    This animation film looks more like a comic take on the epic myth as the character of Ravan here is more like a caricature meant to evoke laughter though his surroundings are dark and he is surrounded by all sinister looking aides.

    While the animation is not up to the mark with the characters having limited expressions. The film has taken a long time hitting the cinemas having been made in 2008. It aims more at kids seeking fun out of this comical version of the Ramayana.

    MUMBAI: After the success of short format Chutki aur Shopkeepaa starring Gaurav Gera on Big Magic, the channel has now added another innovation to its programming with the launch of a celebrity chat show Chutki Baja Ke.

    Starting 25 September, the weekly thirty minute show be aired at 8:30 pm.

    The show will be filled with bizarre, unpredictable and hilarious conversations between popular celebrities and Gera. With this new show, the channel aims to increase the quirkiness quotient in its programming.

    Reliance Broadcast Network creative director Paritosh Painter said, “After the enormous success of our short format Chutki aur Shopkeepaa on television as well as on radio, we decided to increase the dose of #FullOnLOL moments for our viewers.
