  • ‘NH10’ collects Rs 12.8 crore in its opening weekend

‘NH10’ collects Rs 12.8 crore in its opening weekend

MUMBAI: Anushka Sharma’s debut as a part producer in NH10 and essaying a performance oriented, award seeking role, does not quite excite the moviegoer. A dark movie with the theme limited to a particular region and honour killing as the base, further affected by an ‘A’ certification, limits its audience, compounded by the exams period.

The film starts off with five to ten per cent occupancy at multiplexes with single screens’ occupancy being even poorer. NH10 improved over Saturday and Sunday to collect Rs 12.8 crore in its opening weekend.

Dirty Politics, which collected Rs 4.2 crore over its first weekend, barely managed to add another Rs 2 crore over the next four days to end its first week with Rs 6.2 crore.

Badmashiyaan proved to be a total disaster, managing to collect just about Rs 75 lakh in its first week.

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya’s production, Hey Bro, is rejected all around. The film fails to attract the audience and manages to collect just about Rs 1 crore in its first week.

Dum Laga Ke Haisha is the only film that stays afloat despite having a slow start. After performing better in its second weekend as compared to its first weekend, the film holds steady to collect Rs 8.32 crore in its second week thus taking its two week tally to Rs 18.96 crore. The film has emerged as the only wholesome family entertainer in quite some time.

Badlapur: Don’t Miss The Beginning adds Rs 3.6 crore in its third week to take its three week total to Rs 47.7 crore.

  • Choreographer Ganesh Acharya to star as main protagonist in ‘Hey Bro’

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya to star as main protagonist in ‘Hey Bro’

NEW DELHI: Veteran choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who has also made occasional appearances in films as an actor, is for the first time playing the protagonist of a Hindi action film, Hey Bro, slated for release this week.

Addressing a press meet, Acharya said, “It’s a comedy film and my I am playing the character of Gopi, who just found out who had a twin brother who was a policeman and the story goes on.”

Directed by Ajay Chandok, the film stars Maninder Singh, Nupur Sharma, and Hanif Lal among others and has been produced by Rahul Mittra.

The film is thus a story about twin brothers with a twist. This is the first time that the audience will see Ganesh as a leading actor and not just a choreographer.

The song ‘Birju’ will see special appearance of various popular faces of Bollywood including Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh amongst others.

“I am very much happy and excited about this movie. I had an amazing experience working with my co-actors and they are very professional, I must say. Hope the movie does well in the theatre,” said Acharya.

Mittra added, “It has different and fresh star cast that will be seen on the screen for the first time. I hope the audience will like the chemistry and the wonderful tracks the movie has.”

The music of the film has been composed by music directors Nitz n Sony, who have experimented with the sound of their music and have not stuck purely to one music genre.

“This is my debut film and I am doing it with so many great people, it’s truly like a dream come true. I always wanted to do roles with all of them and this movie has an amazing star cast,” said Sharma.

The movie is produced by Ganesh Acharya’s wife Vidhi Acharya and written by M.Salim.

  • Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha’s impromptu dance for Tamanche Pe Disco

Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha’s impromptu dance for Tamanche Pe Disco

MUMBAI: The much awaited song Tamanche Pe Disco with our very own nawab of Bollywood Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha is finally here!

This track is sung and composed by the UK based band RDB, making the rhythm very catchy and peppy.

In fact we hear that when ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who has choreographed the song, made the actors listen to the song, both started grooving spontaneously to its fast and peppy tune.

A source close to the team said, “The song has a very perky tune to it making a person stand up and dance. The same happened with Saif and Sonakshi, making them groove on the spot. Ganesh was very impressed with this unrehearsed and unplanned dancing so he decided to include that impromptu chemistry between Saif and Sonakshi in the song.”

We feel that the definite USP of the song is its rusty look along with the impromptu and spontaneous dancing done by the leading stars of the movie.

Looks like the Bullett Raja is not only good with his shooting skills but also with his dancing skills!

Releasing 29 November, Bullett Raja is premised on fictional mafia based in Uttar Pradesh starring Saif Ali Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Jimmy Shergill, Vidyut Jamwal, Gulshan Grover, Raj Babbar and Chunky Pandey.

Fox Star Studios presents Bullett Raja produced by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Nitin Tej Ahuja, Rahul Mitra and is a Moving Pictures & BrandSmith Motion Pictures Production.

  • Disney UTV signs Remo D’Souza for a two-film deal

Disney UTV signs Remo D’Souza for a two-film deal

MUMBAI: Disney UTV has signed choreographer-turned-director Remo D‘Souza for a two film deal.

One of the films is likely to be the sequel of ABCD – Any Body Can Dance which is directed by Remo and stars Prabhudheva, Ganesh Acharya, Dharmesh, Prince, Mayuresh and Vrushali and Lauren Gottlieb (the finalist of the popular international television dance talent show So You Think You Can Dance) besides Dance India Dance winners Salman Khan.

Said Disney UTV Managing Director – Studios, Siddharth Roy Kapur, “Remo is of course a gifted choreographer but as Prabhudheva said after working with him, he is an even better director. We have had a wonderful experience with Remo on ABCD. The film showcases his amazing ability to thrill and entertain his audience while at the same time to handle emotion and drama with sensitivity and depth.

He has worked with a team of superb dancers and brought out the actor in each of them. To shoot a grueling dance film at this massive scale in 3D is not an easy job, but Remo coupled his talent and ability with patience and perseverance to make a superb film. We‘re thrilled to be continuing our association with him, and here‘s to making many more great movies together!”

Averred Remo, “UTV has whole-heartedly backed my vision of making India‘s first ever 3D dance film ABCD. They were kicked about the project from the word go and I‘m really happy I had them as my producer. It‘s important for a producer to trust his director, trust the vision and UTV has done just that.

I‘m really excited that I have been offered two more films under the UTV banner – one which could be the sequel to ABCD – which I‘m currently working upon. UTV and I have had a super journey and we are only strengthening our bond now. We will do some great work together.”

Bringing together the best of both worlds, the Walt Disney Studios and UTV Motion Pictures have formed one of the leading film studios in India, the activities of which spans across creative development, production, marketing, distribution, licensing, merchandising and syndication of films in India and the world.”
