    MUMBAI: The much-awaited  awards in the digital music platform is here. Times Internet presents the inaugural Gaana Awards which celebrates music, both Indian and international.

     

    Gaana.com, the largest online music broadcaster in the country which has a catalogue of 3 million songs across various languages, has announced the launch of the Gaana Music Awards 2014. The awards will be determined on the  basis of actual playouts & user consumption across  the digital platforms on Gaana. The apps will provide the consumers a more enriching music experience apart from generating revenue for the developers.     Gaana.com, a product of Times Internet (TIL), country’s largest digital network, will ensure that the developers need not worry about complex content licensing agreements or acquiring new users, as all of this will be handled by Gaana. 

     

    Via APIs, Gaana will offer developers access to its 3 million+ song catalog and its users. Developers who join the program will be highlighted on Gaana, giving direct exposure of its userbase to newly built applications. Gaana expects programmers to build innovative music apps that uses the platform’s catalog and technology, and believes that the platform will become the hub for innovation in online music apps, creating new ways for users to consume and discover their music experience.

    Known for its marketing innovations with every release, Sony Music introduced a first of its kind concept for Dharma Productions’ Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. A special video teaser featuring Kareena Kapoor who will be introducing the brand new song Tooh will be launched on Gaana.com on 8 October where in every time a user logs on to the website, they will get to listen and view the teaser.

     

    Commenting on the same, Sony Music India marketing director Sanujeet Bhujabal said, “The film and its music has huge anticipation in the minds of the fans and they are waiting for the songs and the look of the film with bated breath. Keeping the same in mind, we decided to create a special unit where in we release a song and video teaser on Gaana.com prior to the release of the song.     Gaana.com bolsters regional library with SIMCA tie-up

    MUMBAI: In a move to further reach out to audiences in South India and other regional markets, Gaana.com, Times Internet Limited‘s music streaming service, has tied up with SIMCA (South Indian Music Companies Association).

    The tie up gives Gaana access to over 55,000 songs covering the best of Film, Carnatic and popular devotional music from Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam.

    With the likes of Shruthilaya Music, Melody Music, Star Audio, Amudham Music, Satyam Audio, 5 Star Audio, Millenium Audio and Symphony Recording Company and 90 other labels coming on board through this deal, the website will be able to cater to young and old audiences alike, offering some of the best old classics of artist like Illayaraja, S.P.Balasubramanyam, K.J.Yesudas, Chitra and M.S.Subbulakshmi to new film songs.

    Speaking about the tie up, Gaana.com Head Avinash Mudaliar said, “Gaana is constantly expanding its catalog of music, and our association with SIMCA demonstrates our increased commitment to expand into the regional markets, particularly South India.

    We‘ve seen that nearly 28 per cent of our consumption on our website and new mobile apps comes from South India, and we hope to serve our users there better.”

    MUMBAI: Gaana.com, Times Internet Limited‘s (TIL) digital music platform, has partnered Yash Raj Films, Magnasound, and Unisys Infosolutions to bolster its music library.

    The three partnerships will together add over 50,000 songs across categories, from major blockbuster movies like Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ek Tha Tiger, to a variety of Punjabi hits like Aak Chak, Gal Sun and Tusi Bewafa, to the best of 1990s Indipop like Daler Mehndi and Baba Sehgal.

    Gaana.com head Avinash Mudaliar claimed that Gaana.com app has seen 200,000 downloads two weeks since it was launched on iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Nokia/Samsung phones.

    “On iPhone, we had 58,153 downloads. On Android, 69,456 downloads. On Nokia and Samsung phones, we had 69,674 downloads. On Blackberry devices, we had 5,115 downloads,” he disclosed.

    Mudaliar said that the company is working towards improving the stability of apps and adding new features.

    “On iPhone, the latest version (awaiting approval) will have AirPlay enabled, so you can stream music from your phone to your home devices. And on Android, the latest release adds a lot of stability, and some other incremental features,” he added.

    MUMBAI: Time Internet (TIL) has developed mobile applications for its flagship online music portal, Gaana.com.

    Simultaneously, Gaana.com is now available as an app for Android, iOS, Blackberry and J2ME devices, giving consumers access to millions of songs on their mobile phone.

Some of its features include: access to over 1 million songs, including Bollywood, Hollywood, Tamil, Telegu, and regional music, Social listening: see what one‘s friends are listening to and My zone: an ability to see history, favorite songs, playlists, albums and artists across computer or mobile phone.
