    GI Joe sequel to be released in India ahead of Hollywood

    New Delhi: In keeping with the new trend of releasing Hollywood films simultaneously or ahead of their release in the United States, ‘GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra’ will be releasing in India on 27 March, ahead of its international release.

    The highly awaited muscle fest is a follow-up to the 2009 film which had grossed over $300 million worldwide.

    Director Jon M. Chu’s high octane action fiesta stars an ensemble cast of biggies such as Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum and Dwayne Johnson.
     
    One of the most revered action and fitness figures of all time, Bruce Willis takes over as the original G.I.Joe – Joe Colton.

    Interestingly, Willis agreed to do the role because of a childhood fascination.

    “When I was a kid, I used to play with a GI Joe action figure. So to do this movie is a big honour for me,” he says “I always dreamt of being Joe growing up so to at least share a moment in a movie with him was a lot of fun. I felt like a big kid.”

    MUMBAI: Viacom18 Motion Pictures is gearing up to release G.I.Joe Retaliation on 13 July in India.

    A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra that grossed over $300 million worldwide, G.I.Joe Retaliation is produced by Paramount Pictures, MGM, Skydance Productions and Hasbro.

    In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.

    Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson.

    Charlize Theron in a sci-fi project

    MUMBAI: Universal is nearing to formalize a deal to pick up Agent 13, a sci-fi project that will have Charlize Theron that director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct.
    T.S. Nowlin is the writer of the film based on a little known comic book from 1988. It was created by G.I. Joe and Transformers cartoon writer Flint Dille and David Marconi who penned the Will Smith thriller Enemy of the State as well as Live Free or Die Hard.

    The comic book had post-modern pulp overtones full of femme fatales and explosive cliffhangers. The main character would be reprised by a male despite Theronā€˜s involvement.
    Sean Daniels, who discovered the comic and has been developing since at least last year, is one of the producers. Theron is also attached to the film as a producer under her Denver and Delilah banner.

    MUMBAI: The hula hoop tops VH1 US’ I Love Toys countdown proving that you are never too old to love toys. From Lego to Mr. Potato Head to Barbie and Candy Land, VH1 is reprising its I Love the ’80s approach for its all new five-part series I Love Toys but with a countdown of the top 100 toys.

    The show will culminate later this month with a 90-minute special that will countdown toys 20-1. I Love Toys offers viewers yet another nostalgic look back at their childhood with the toys that defined their generation. The journey to rank the top 100 toys of all time and setting your inner child free consisted of online voting, sales, historical significance and longevity.

    Each one-hour episode of “I Love Toys” will feature today’s top celebrities, such as Ricky Martin, Rachel Leigh Cook, Lisa Lisa and Biz Markie.

    The top 10 toys of all time include Star Wars Figure, G.I. Joe, Barbie and Lego.
