    Samira Nanda a New York celebrity chef, embarks on a journey to discovers the origins of the Royal Indian cuisine. She finds exclusive access to the Royal palaces convinces chefs to part with their secrets while cooking with them and gives you a peek in to India’s rich royal culinary heritage.

    Samira’s passion for food and cooking stems from watching three generations of women in her family cook the best Indian food, with a health conscious element.

    In this series “Royal India With Samira” she travels to fabulous palaces, meets Kings and Princesses, and cooks with Royal chefs to bring you their favourite dishes.

    History TV18, Fyi TV18 to get dedicated Tamil channels

    MUMBAI: A+E networks’ infotainment and lifestyle channels, History TV18 and Fyi TV18, are all set to make the most of the Tamil market. Both entities are now making a switch from using Tamil audio feeds to being full-fledged channels.

    The network has started a test transmission service on Intelsat20 satellite at 68.5 degree east. Both the Tamil channels will be paid channels.

    The Tamil language is a strategic market with its high TV penetration and viewership. Indiantelevision.com tried reaching out to the company’s representatives, but they chose not to comment on the same.

    History TV18 appears to have some interesting plans to woo the Indian audiences with localised content. The channel released a documentary named Special Operations India: Pathankot on 25 June. The two previous installements of the Special Operations India series included Surgical Strikes and Myanmar.

    Fyi TV18 had earlier launched a show for kids named Best Cake Wins and a cooking show called Love at First Bite.

    According to BARC data for week 24, History TV18 managed to garner third position with 2994 impressions (000s) sum, with Sony BBC Earth on top and Discovery channel at the second position. Whereas, Fyi TV18 secured second position with 946 impressions (000s) sum with Living Foodz channel being on the top.

  • Movies Now tops with almost 2x ratings & Zee Cafe trumps Comedy Central

    MUMBAI: Zee Cafe climbed to the first position in the English entertainment genre in BARC India Week 22 ratings with 314 impressions (000s) sum from last week’s second slot with 269 impressions (000s) sum and Movies Now climbed

    English Entertainment

    Comedy Central HD slipped to the second slot with 219 impressions (000s) sum this week as compared to 277 impressions (000s) sum last week. FX climbed a slot and reached the third rank this week with 203 weekly impressions (000s) as compared to 139 impressions (000s) sum last week.

    While Star World bagged the third slot this week with 187 impressions (000s) sum, Colors Infinity SD, which was at the fifth rank last week, exited the Top 5 channels’ list this week. AXN slipped to the fifth position this week with 149 impressions (000s) sum from the third position last week with 179 impressions (000s) sum.

    English Movies

    Movies Now climbed a slot to the first position with 4122 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 2201 impressions (000s) sum. Sony Pix also jumped a slot to the second position this week with 2685 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 1974 impressions (000s) sum.

    Star Movies slipped two slots to the third position with 2295 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 3253 impressions (000s) sum.

    Movies Now 2 retained its fourth position this week with a decreased 1924 impressions (000s) sum from last week’s 1970 impressions (000s) sum and HBO too stayed put at the fifth position with a reduced 1569 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 1962 impressions (000s) sum.

    Infotainment

    Discovery Channel jumped a slot to gain the first position this week with 4096 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 3724 impressions (000s) sum dislodging History TV18 with 4041 impressions (000s) sum.

    National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild and Animal Planet remained at the fourth, fifth and sixth positions, respectively, with 2843, 2374 and 2288 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 2631, 2614 and 2600 impressions (000s) sum.

    Lifestyle

    Living Foodz dethroned the leader FYI TV18 with 1500 impressions (000s) sum climbing a slot from the last week’s with 1273 impressions (000s) sum. FYI TV18 slipped to the second spot with 1060 impressions (000s) sum against last week’s 1452 impressions (000s) sum.

    Food Food maintained its third position with 787 impressions (000s) sum against 736 impressions (000s) sum last week. TLC jumped a slot with 695  impressions (000s) sum this week from the fifth position with 524 impressions (000s) sum.

    Fox Life slipped a slot to the fifth position with 628 impressions (000s) sum as compared to last week’s 524 impressions (000s) sum.

  • AXN enters English Ent Top 5, FYI TV18 Lifestyle hero

    MUMBAI: FX channel dropped out of the Top 5 English Entertainment channels’ list in BARC week 13 paving way for the entry of AXN. Players in the genre witnessed mixed ratings.

    According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data, History TV18 dominated the Infotainment genre although there was a decrease in ratings. The other channels witnessed mixed ratings. 

    FYI TV18 emerged on the top of Lifestyle space where players observed mixed ratings this week.

    English Entertainment

    Zee Cafe with increased ratings dominated the genre with 366 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 340 Impressions (‘000s) last week.  Comedy Central bagged the second place with 219 Impressions (‘000s). Colors Infinity SD pocketed the third position with 210 Impressions (‘000s) whereas AXN and Star World respectively bagged fourth place and fifth rank with 166 Impressions (‘000s) and 165 Impressions (‘000s).

    English Movies

    Star Movies with low ratings dominated the genre with 2422 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 3242 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Movies Now came at the second spot with 2422 Impressions (‘000s). Sony Pix with 2383 Impressions (‘000s) took the third position followed by HBO at the fourth and Movies Now 2 at the fifth positions respectively with 1692 Impressions (‘000s) and 1624 Impressions (‘000s).

    Infotainment

    History TV18 with a drop in ratings dominated the genre with 5762 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 6060 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel respectively took the second and third place with with 5300 Impressions (‘000s) and 3941 Impressions (‘000s). Animal Planet came at the fourth position with 3339 Impressions (‘000s) whereas Nat Geo Wild was at the fifth place with 2622 Impressions (‘000s).

    Lifestyle 

    FYI TV 18 with a hike in its ratings reigned in the genre with 1440 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 923 Impressions (‘000s) last week. Living Foodz stood at the second spot with 1259 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Fox Life with 1220 Impressions (‘000s). Food Food with 808 Impressions (‘000s) and TLC with 645 Impressions (‘000s) bagged the fourth and fifth position, respectively.

The young men and women from these communities choose the time tested route of arranged marriages- an age old tradition where families play a pivotal role in selecting their life partner. FYI TV18 presents Arranged, a show on arranged marriages with a twist. Now in its second season, the show follows the journey of three couples on a roller-coaster ride of emotions as they experience this life changing arrangement.

    The show will air every Monday and Tuesday at 9 pm.

    From a young Jewish modern Orthodox couple in New York City, to a southern couple from Texas, to a couple raised by traditional East Indian parents living in California – each have a unique journey to marriage. Viewers will see the couples get to know one another from the lead-up to their weddings, through the joys and challenges of married life seen through the lens of their very different families and cultures. Meddling mother-in laws, money concerns, the struggle of adjusting to new lifestyles and starting a family will add even more stress to an already overwhelming situation. In the English Entertainment genre, all the channels except Comedy Central witnessed an increase in ratings. According to the week 45 ratings data of Broadcast Audience Research Data (BARC) India, Sony Pix toppled Star Movies thus dominating the English movies space. 

    The channels in both, factual entertainment and lifestyle genre observed mixed ratings. The genres continued to be dominated by Discovery and Living Foodz, respectively.

    Comedy Central with a decrease in the ratings continued at stood the number one position with 378 Impressions (‘000s) as compared to 398 Impressions (‘000s) in week 44. Star World sustained the second spot with 314 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Zee Cafe with 159 Impressions (‘000s) in the third place. The fourth position was secured by AXN with 146 Impressions (‘000s) while FX held the fifth position with 93 Impressions (‘000s). 

    English Movies

    Sony Pix dominated the space with 2979 Impressions (‘000s) followed by Star Movies at the number two position with 2943 Impressions (‘000s). Movies Now stood at the third position with 2770 Impressions (‘000s).
