    FY-16: UFO Moviez ad revenue 35 percent up

    BENGALURU: Indian digital cinema distribution network and in-cinema advertising platform, UFO Moviez Limited (UFO) reported a 35.3 percent growth in advertising revenue for the year ended 31 March 2016 (FY-16, current year). The company reported advertising revenue of Rs 157.8 crore in FY-16 as compared to Rs 116.7 crore in the previous year. Average advertisement minutes sold per show per screen increased to 4.15 (FY-15 – 3.36) minutes during the year. Theatrical and In-Cinema advertisement (consolidated excluding new businesses) revenues grew by 18.6 percent to Rs 567.1 crore (FY-15 – Rs 478.3 crore). Consolidated revenues improved by 19.4 percent to Rs 572.1 crore (FY-15 – Rs 479.3 crore)

    Total Expense in FY-16 increased 17.5 percent to Rs 464.70 crore from Rs 395.45 crore in FY-15. Ad revenue share (expense) in FY-16 increased 27.2 percent to Rs 47.15 crore from Rs 39.39 crore in the previous year. Visual Print sharing expense in FY-16 increased 22.9 percent to Rs 73.36 crore from Rs 63.31 crore.

    The company’s expense towards purchase of digital cinema equipment and lamps in the current year increased 62.7 percent to Rs 66.0s crore as compared to Rs 40.59 crore in FY-15.

    BENGALURU: Sun TV Network Limited (Sun TV) reported 7.3 per cent growth in consolidated Total Income from Operations (TIO) and 16.8 percent growth in profit after tax (PAT) for the period ended 31 March 2016 (FY-16, current year) as compared to fiscal FY-15. TIO in FY-16 was Rs 2,569.79 crore as compared to Rs 2,395.38 crore in FY-15. The company’s PAT in the current year was Rs 913.38 crore (35.5 percent PAT margin) in FY-16 and was Rs 782.04 crore (32.6 percent PAT margin) in the previous year.

    Consolidated Total Expenditure (TE) in the current year declined 2.5 percent to Rs 1,300.53 crore (50.6 percent of TIO) as compared to Rs 1,333.45 crore in the previous year.

    Employee Benefits Expense (EBE) in FY-16 increased 15.5 percent to Rs 271.63 crore (10.6 percent of TIO) as compared to Rs 235.08 crore (9.8 percent of TIO) in FY-15.

    Other expenses (OE) in the FY-16 was 13.6 percent higher in FY-16 at Rs 222.07 crore (8.6 percent of TIO) as compared to Rs 195.56 crore (8.2 percent of TIO) in the previous year.

    Standalone quarterly numbers

    For the quarter ended 31 March 2016 (Q4-16, current quarter) Sun TV standalone TIO increased 4 percent year-over-year (y-o-y) to Rs 570.68 crore from Rs 548.58 crore, but declined 0.6 percent quarter-over-quarter (q-o-q) from Rs 574.12 crore.

    Standalone PAT in Q4-16 increased 16.3 percent y-o-y to Rs 236 crore (41.4 percent PAT margin) as compared to Rs 548.48 crore (37 percent PAT margin) and increased 9.5 percent q-o-q from Rs 215.59 crore (37.6 percent PAT margin)

    Standalone EBIDTA in the current quarter increased 0.8 percent y-o-y to Rs 426.58 crore (74.7 percent EBIDTA margin) from Rs 423.26 crore (77.2 percent EBIDTA margin), but declined 3.1 percent q-o-q from Rs 440.44 crore.

    Standalone TE in Q4-16 declined 7.2 percent y-o-y to Rs 244.76 crore (42.9 percent of TIO) from Rs 263.74 crore (48.1 percent of TIO) and declined 8.8 percent q-o-q from Rs 268.43 crore (46.8 percent of TIO).

    Standalone EBE in the current quarter increased 20.8 percent y-o-y to Rs 63.02 crore (11 percent of TIO) from Rs 52.16 crore (9.5 percent of TIO) and increased 7.3 percent q-o-q from Rs 58.73 crore (10.2 percent of TIO)

    Standalone OE in Q4-16 increased 23 percent y-o-y to Rs 34.77 crore (6.1 percent of TIO) from Rs 28.26 crore (5.2 percent of TIO) but declined 1.1 percent q-o-q from Rs 35.16 crore (6.1 percent of TIO).

    Sun TV has paid franchisee fees for its IPL team SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) of Rs 85.05 crore in FY-15 and FY-16.

    Standalone EBIDTA in the current quarter increased 0.8 percent y-o-y to Rs 426.58 crore (74.7 percent EBIDTA margin) from Rs 423.26 crore (77.2 percent EBIDTA margin), but declined 3.1 percent q-o-q from Rs 440.44 crore.

    Standalone TE in Q4-16 declined 7.2 percent y-o-y to Rs 244.76 crore (42.9 percent of TIO) from Rs 263.74 crore (48.1 percent of TIO) and declined 8.8 percent q-o-q from Rs 268.43 crore (46.8 percent of TIO).

    Standalone EBE in the current quarter increased 20.8 percent y-o-y to Rs 63.02 crore (11 percent of TIO) from Rs 52.16 crore (9.5 percent of TIO) and increased 7.3 percent q-o-q from Rs 58.73 crore (10.2 percent of TIO)

    Standalone OE in Q4-16 increased 23 percent y-o-y to Rs 34.77 crore (6.1 percent of TIO) from Rs 28.26 crore (5.2 percent of TIO) but declined 1.1 percent q-o-q from Rs 35.16 crore (6.1 percent of TIO).

    BENGALURU: Indian multi system operator (MSO) Hathway Cable and Datacom Limited (Hathway) reported 13.7 per cent growth in Total Income from operations (TIO) and 51.7 percent growth in operating profits (EBIDTA) for the fiscal ended 31 March 2016 (FY-16, current year). The company reported TIO of Rs 2,081.63 crore in FY-16 as compared to Rs 1,831.60 crore in the previous year. The company’s EBDITA in the current year was Rs 388.69 crore (18.7 percent EBIDTA margin) and was Rs 256.16 crore (14 percent EBIDTA margin) in the previous year. The company narrowed its loss in the current year to Rs 163.13 crore in FY-16 from a loss of Rs 180.45 crore in FY-16.

    High growth in Activation fees and Broadband revenue are chiefly responsible for the improved performance.

    Hathway’s consolidated broadband subscribers increased 38 percent in FY16 to 6.272 lakh from 4.558 lakh in FY-15. Consolidated broadband revenue in the current year increased 61 percent to Rs 399.3 crore from Rs 247.5 crore in the previous year. Broadband ARPU in the current year increased to Rs 670 from Rs 530 in the previous year.

    Consolidated reported CATV subscription revenue in the current year declined 3.3 percent to Rs 812.7 crore from Rs 840.3 crore in FY-15.

    The company says that it deployed 22 lakh set top boxes in FY-16, 10 lakh of them in the last quarter of FY-16, and it has 1.06 crore CATV digital subscriber’s (87 percent of its subscriber base of 1.23 crore). Its DAS phase I area standalone Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) in the quarter ended 31 March 2016 (Q4-16, current quarter) increased to Rs 105 from Rs 100 in Q4-15. Its standalone DAS phase II area ARPU in Q4-16 increased to Rs 86 from Rs 67 in the corresponding year ago quarter.

    Placement revenue in the current year declined 4 percent to Rs 598.8 crore from Rs 626.9 crore in the previous year.

    Activation revenue almost tripled (2.8 times) in FY-16 to Rs 227.9 crore from Rs 82.4 crore in FY-15.

    Other revenue increased 24 percent in FY-15 to Rs 42.9 crore from Rs 34.6 in the previous year.

    Hathway’s Total Expenditure in FY-16 increased 8.9 percent to Rs 2,072.56 crore (99.6 percent of TIO) from Rs 1,903.38 crore (103.9 percent of TIO) in the previous year.

    Pay channel cost in the current year increased 1 percent to Rs 821.65 crore (39.5 percent of TIO) from Rs 813.13 crore (44.4 percent of TIO) in FY-15.

The company’s consolidated Profit after Tax (PAT) increased 16 percent in FY-16. TVTN reported consolidated TIO of Rs 546.01 crore in FY-16 and Rs 476.58 crore in FY-15. PAT in the current year was Rs 95.04 crore (17.2 percent PAT margin) as compared to Rs 81.03 crore (17 percent PAT margin) in FY-15.

    TVTN’s advertising, distribution and sales promotion (ad expense) in FY-16 increased 17.5 percent to Rs 119.52 crore (21.9 percent of TIO) from Rs 101.75 crore (21.3 percent of TIO) in FY-15.

    The TVTN board has recommended a final dividend @ 35 percent on the paid-up capital of the company, i.e., Rs 1.75 per share of Rs 5/- each for FY-16 subject to the approval of shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company.

    BENGALURU:  Hinduja Ventures Limited (HVL) reported more than triple the standalone revenue for the year ended 31 March 2016 (FY-16, current year) at Rs 332.49 crore as compared to Rs 110.45 crore in the previous year. The net profit for the year on grew 8.6 percent to Rs 100.59 crore as compared to Rs 92.59 crore in the previous year. The company attributes the increase in revenue to sale of set top boxes.

    Consolidated total income for the year ended was Rs. 679.98 crore EBITA was Rs. 125.79 crore and net loss of Rs. 81.21 crore.

    The HVL board has considered and recommended the Interim dividend of 175 percent on face value of Rs. 10/- per share translating into Rs. 17.50/- per share for the financial year 2015-2016 declared on March 14, 2016 as final dividend.
