FX and FX HD to air season 2 ‘Empire’ this women’s day

MUMBAI: Women’s Day is the celebration of female equality and achievement in social, economic, cultural spheres and what mirrors our society better than television! On this International Women’s Day, FX is commemorating television’s edgiest female character ‘Cookie Lyon’ in the hit musical series Empire who represents a feminist politics of insolence that has no time for prim notions of femininity as demure, quiet and self-effacing. The character, impeccably essayed by Golden Globe Winner Taraji P Henson, signifies the woman of today who is strong, confrontational, uncompromising and very much visible.

The season 2 of Empire will air on 8 March 2016 9 am onwards.

Empire follows the family of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), a former drug dealer now turned hip hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment, who learns he has ALS. His life begins to cave in around him after his past sins come back to haunt him following his diagnosis. Lucious, looking to groom one of his three sons Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) to take over the family business, pits them against each other. Meanwhile, Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), Lucious’ ex-wife Cookie Lyon and the mother of his three sons is released from prison after serving a 17-year sentence.

FX & FX HD to premiere M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Wayward Pines’

MUMBAI: FX and FX HD are all geared up to premiere the sci-fi thriller series Wayward Pines.

Going on air from 22 February, the series will air every Monday to Friday at 9 pm.

Wayward Pines is directed by M. Night Shyamalan and developed by Chad Hodge for television.

Shyamalan said, “Well, I got the first book before it was published — maybe two, three months before — from a producer and read the book in one day and completely flipped out. I turned those pages as fast as I could and immediately knew that I had to turn it into a show. I was so grabbed by the single-player story-telling; I kind of like to call it. You’re really with Matt Dillion’s character, Ethan, and you’re feeling the experience of coming into this town with him and you’re kind of really in his head. People stare at him as he interacts with this crazy nurse and this crazy sheriff — why isn’t anybody talking to him? So it’s really almost like you’re in his head and I felt the same way when I was reading the book.”

The series stars Matt Dillon (Ethan Burke), as a US secret service agent investigating the disappearance of two fellow agents in the mysterious small town of Wayward Pines, Idaho. Ethan awakens from a car accident unable to contact the outside world, and unable to leave. He finds one of the agents dead and the other, his former lover Kate Hewson played by Carla Gugino, settled down in the seemingly idyllic town. But the inhabitants of Wayward Pines are trapped there by a set of rules enforced by the strict Sheriff Arnold Pope enacted by Terrence Howard, and any attempt to escape is punished by a public execution known as a reckoning. Ethan works to discover the truth, and has to make hard choices when he does.

FX and FX HD to air ‘House M.D.’

MUMBAI: FX, the English entertainment channel, is known for showcasing some of the most iconic and critically-acclaimed edge-of-seat content. Upping its game this New Year, the channel is all-set to premiere one of the greatest dramas of all time House M.D. Premiering on 13 January 2016; the show will air on FX and FX HD starting with the very first season, Season 1 down to its final Season 8 every day from Monday to Friday at 10 pm.

House M.D. is a highly acclaimed American medical drama television series. Doctor Gregory House played by famous British actor, writer, director, musician, singer, comedian, and author, Hugh Laurie. Prior to House, Hugh Laurie had made his mark as an actor and comedian with Fry & Laurie, Jeeves and Wooster and few big screen appearances including Stuart Little. But it was through House that he skyrocketed to fame.  Doctor House is the one and only character on global television who everyone across the world loves to hate. This is because he is brilliant – a pure genius and extremely charming in his own fundamentally arrogant and cranky way. He is not just any ordinary doctor fighting off patients’ illnesses. He takes up medical cases that only prove to be the rarest and most interesting to him. Gregory House is considered to be one of the most well written characters of a television series and House M.D. went on to become the most watched television series globally in 2008. The show won numerous renowned awards including five Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Peabody Award, and nine People’s Choice Awards.

The series trails Doctor House as he leads an elite medical team to solve bizarre illnesses and save lives despite his own constant physical pain. In the series’ first episode of the very first season, Doctor Gregory House and his choicest team of young medical experts rush to save the life of a kindergarten teacher who starts speaking gibberish and passes out in front of her class. What initially looks like a possible case of brain tumour, the patient does not respond to treatment leaving House and his team to engage in a risky trail-and-error approach to her case. Will House be able to find out what is wrong and in time?
