    Forbes names Kristen Stewart as highest-paid actress

    MUMBAI: Among the current actresses of Hollywood, Kristen Stewart has been named Hollywood‘s highest-paid actress in Forbes magazine‘s annual list earning as much as $34.5 million last year. She narrowly beat Cameron Diaz who earned $34 million.
    Kristen‘s earnings came from her $12.5 million salary plus profit share for both instalments of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts I and II, and also her role in Snow White and the Huntsman. On the other hand, Cameron‘s earnings came from her salaries for Bad Teacher, The Green Hornet and What to Expect When You‘re Expecting, it is learnt.

    Sandra Bullock was placed third in the list for the $25 million she earned for her upcoming film Gravity as well as the profits she is still making from 2009 film The Blind Side.
    Angelina Jolie follows at number four with $20 million and Charlize Theron with $18 million is at the fifth slot.

    Steve steps down as Forbes CEO

    MUMBAI: Steve Forbes will be replaced by media veteran Mike Perlis as CEO and president of Forbes Media. Perlis will also take over executive duties from Steve’s brother Tim Forbes, who was the chief operating officer.

    Steve Forbes will now be the chairman of the board and editor-in-chief of the privately held magazine. Tim, on the other hand, will be chairman of Forbes Digital and will be a member of the company‘s board.  
         
      In his previous stints, Perlis was a general partner at SoftBank Capital and had been chairman and CEO of IDG Peterborough, the publisher of Gentleman‘s Quarterly.

    Forbes Magazine has a circulation of over 900,000 and its website receives approximately 18 million monthly visits.

    This is the second time Perlis has been recruited for a job at Forbes. Earlier he was courted to run for Forbes, but opted to join SoftBank.

    Oprah tops ‘Forbes’ list of richest women in entertainment

    MUMBAI: The annual Forbes magazine list has put out its list of the wealthiest women in entertainment and there are no new surprises on who occupies the top spot.

    U.S. talk show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey tops the list with an an estimated $1.5 billion during her career. JK Rowling, who is finishing the seventh and final instalment in her boy wizard series Harry Potter, ranks second with $1 billion. Martha Stewart another talk show host is third with $638 million.
    Madonna ranks fourth with $325 million, followed by Celine Dion ($250 million), Mariah Carey ($225 million), Janet Jackson ($150 million), Julia Roberts ($140 million), and Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez (both $110 million).

    Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twin actresses who started out on the ’80s comedy Full House and created a multimedia empire, Dualstar Entertainment Group, are No. 11 with an estimated “combined net worth at around $100 million,” Forbes said. They’re followed by Britney Spears, Judge Judy Sheindlin of TV’s Judge Judy, Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Gisele Bundchen, Ellen DeGeneres, Nicole Kidman, Christina Aguilera and Renee Zellweger. Forbes stated that to make its top-20 list these female megastars needed a minimum net worth of $45 million amassed over the course of their careers.
