    MUMBAI: If someone took away everything you live for… how far would you go to get it back? This Friday night, Star Movies presents FLIGHTPLAN- a super thriller to throw you off your seat. Starring Jodie Foster, Peter Sarsgaard, Sean Bean and Marlene Lawston, the movie depicts what happens after Kyle Pratt boards a flight from Berlin to New York with her daughter Julia. So make sure you tune in to Star Movies on Friday, March 2nd, 2007 at 9 p.m. for the premiere of FLIGHTPLAN.

    In Berlin, the aircraft propulsion engineer Kyle Pratt (Jodie Foster) is grieving the loss of her beloved husband, who fell from the roof of their building. She quits her job and decides to travel Long Island to bury the body. She takes his coffin back to the U.S. on a flight from Berlin to New York with her traumatized six years old daughter Julia (Marlene Lawston). After Kyle wakes up from a nap to find out Julia has disappeared mid flight, she begins a frantic attempt to find out what has happened to her. With the airline crew denying that her daughter was even on the plane, Kyle begins to question her sanity as she tries to convince air marshal Carson (Sarsgaard) of what has happened. With no help, Kyle takes it upon herself to find out the reasoning behind her daughters disappearance and save her.

    INTERESTING TRIVIA

    Jodie Foster’s role was originally written for Sean Penn. The original character’s name of “Kyle” was even kept.

    In real life, Sean Bean, who plays Captain Rich, and Peter Sarsgaard, who plays air marshal Gene Carson, both experience a fear of flying.

    The cartoon that is played on the monitor when Kyle wakes up is Kenny The Shark.

    The 35mm prints of this film come from a digital intermediate that has been digitally grain reduced. As a result there are digital grain reduction artifacts visible on all prints.

    BVITV inks agreements with Miravista, TF1 Vision & CGV Choice at Mipcom

    MUMBAI: Buena Vista International Television (BVITV) has secured the international TV distribution rights for Miravista, The Walt Disney Company- owned label for Buena Vista International Latin America’s local theatrical co-productions. BVITV will offer titles from the Miravista portfolio to international TV buyers for the first time at Mipcom.

    As announced by Buena Vista Worldwide Television president Laurie Younger and The Walt Disney Company Latin America president and Walt Disney Television Latin America general manager Diego Lerner.

    Titles include the forthcoming Only God Knows which recently had its North American premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and will launch across the US in 2007. Other titles include Ladies Night and Romeo and Juliet Get Married.

    BVITV has also signed an agreement with TF1 Vision, such that movie releases and blockbusters from BVITV’s portfolio will be available on demand on the TF1 Vision website. This agreement is in line with The Walt Disney Company’s focus on the application of technology to enhance its content and expand its distribution, informs an official release.

    With this broadband VOD rental agreement, almost 100 titles are available on the TF1 VOD website. Titles will include recent releases such as Cinderella Man, Flightplan, Derailed and Dark Water, and box office hits such as Pretty Woman, Dead Poets Society, Face Off and Pearl Harbor. Brand new titles can be downloaded for a fixed price of 4,99 euros each (all taxes included) and library movies can be rented for 1,99 euros each (all taxes included).

    BVITV EMEA executive vice president and managing director Tom Toumazis said, “We are pleased to be working once more with TF1 to bring content from our portfolio to consumers in France in new flexible ways, as and when they want to watch it.”

    In addition, Buena Vista International Television-Asia Pacific (BVITV-AP), the international television distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company, has also concluded a multi-year agreement with Korean pay-per-view (PPV) and video-on-demand (VOD) operator CGV Choice, a subsidiary of CJ Media, for current and library features from BVITV-AP’s features portfolio.
    Under this licensing agreement, subscribers to CGV Choice are able to enjoy a selection of Hollywood blockbusters from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films. 
    Titles include Disney’s second highest grossing film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl, Flightplan, National Treasure and Casanova.

    BVITV-AP’s senior vice president and managing director Steve Macallister said, “This is another groundbreaking new media deal for BVITV in Korea and reflects our commitment to finding new and innovative ways to deliver our quality content whenever consumers want it.”

    MUMBAI:Buena Vista International Television–Asia Pacific (BVITV-AP), the international television distribution arm of Disney has concluded a multi-year agreement with Korean pay-per-view (PPV) and video-on-demand (VoD) operator CGV Choice, a subsidiary of CJ Media.

    The deal is for current and library features from BVITV-AP’s features portfolio. BVITV-AP is the first US studio to deliver Hollywood movies on CGV Choice’s VOD platform. This agreement is in line with Disney’s focus on the application of technology to enhance its content and expand its distribution to deliver it anytime, anywhere.

    Under this licensing agreement, subscribers to CGV Choice are able to enjoy films like The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl, Flightplan, National Treasure and Casanova.

    BVITV and France Telecom sign VOD agreement at MipTV

    CANNES: Buena Vista International Television (BVITV) and France Telecom have concluded a multi-year VOD (voice on demand) agreement to allow subscribers to enjoy a selection of movies from BVITV’s portfolio, through France Telecom’s Wanadoo broadband, and MaLigne IPTV set top box services.

    Under the new agreement, France Telecom’s subscribers will be able to enjoy a selection of current and library features from producer groups such as Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films. Viewers will be able to access the content online via Wanadoo broadband, downloading movies for a period of up to 30 days, or via the MaLigne set top box service. On both services, titles will be available for 24 hours once the film has been accessed.

    The selection will include first run current titles such as Flightplan, Casanova, Finding Neverland, Kinky Boots and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

    In addition, subscribers will be able to enjoy a selection of library titles, including Pretty Woman, Armageddon Pearl Harbor, Signs and Unbreakable.

    For BVITV, this agreement was concluded by vice president sales, French-speaking Europe and Middle East Florent Gaignault and pay TV and new technologies vice president sales Damian Newton.

    BVITV EMEA senior vice president sales and portfolio development Philippe Maigret said, “We are working with operators such as France Telecom to provide secure ways for viewers across the world to access our movies online, on demand, and to help drive uptake of legitimate download services. This VOD agreement across France Telecom’s IPTV and broadband platforms marks the beginning of a key relationship, which we see eventually covering additional territories in Europe, across our programming portfolio for distribution on emerging platforms.”

    France Telecom executive vice president content division Patricia Langrand added, “We are very pleased to announce the first and promising step towards a strong and creative partnership. Our intention is to extend this first agreement to other territories and to develop our partnership with other content, such as BVITV’s fantastic portfolio of series.
