    TV Viewership Trend: A 7-week perspective (not including Finale) 

    Television viewership shows strong growth as measured across audiences – Urban + Rural at 14% and Urban audiences demonstrating enhanced viewership growth at 25%. 

    In the elusive, hard to reach affluent urban male audiences, the Tournament to date, excluding finale is delivering a whopping 31% growth v/s year ago.

    Total Audience Viewership: First 7 weeks (not including Finale)   

    Overall viewership of the tournament across all platforms TV (In-Home & Out-of-Home) and Digital in Urban Audiences up to week 7 was 41%* higher than the comparable number of matches last year. Within this, TV urban viewership is 824 million impressions, +25% growth v/s year ago and Digital viewership at 132 million impressions is 3.8X of last year.

    Star World Premiere HD to air finale of ‘Downton Abbey’

    MUMBAI: Star World Premiere HD is all geared up to air the final episode of the TV show Downton Abbey. The series will end with a Christmas special finale episode on 25 December at 8 pm. The channel will also air the other episodes of the finale season from 12 pm onwards.

     

    The send-off episode will offer all the love and loss, happiness and heartbreak of the show. The last episode will be a tear jerker and will see the family and house help preparing to welcome 1926, by celebrating an unforgettable New Year’s Eve together at the great house.

     

    The finale of the sixth season will see Mary endeavouring building bridges with Edith while Edith’s secret continues to pose a threat. Anna will be seen pregnant following all sorts of trauma while Mr. Carson will be more concerned about the pace of change in the Downton Abbey household. Isobel will receive devastating news and when the Greys’ scheming takes a sinister turn, she and Violet will join forces. Robert learns the value of independence, while the day that Anna and Bates have been waiting for arrives.

    ‘Superhero’ to be Hugh Jackman’s last X Men movie

    MUMBAI: Much to the dismay of Wolverine fans all over, Hugh Jackman confirmed that his final appearance as Wolverine will be in 2017 with the movie X-Men Superhero in the third Wolverine spin-off film, reports Independent.

     

    The actor made the announcement while making an appearance on the American talk show Dr. Oz.

     

    According to The Hollywood Reporter, rumours of Jackman’s last appearance as Wolverine have been floating on social media ever since the actor uploaded a picture on Intagram with the caption: ‘Wolverine. One last time.’ 

     

    Over the years, Jackman was almost synonymous as Wolverine amongst the X Men fans worldwide. When the actor was asked his reasons for giving up such a character that has brought him so much love and respect, Jackman said, “It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.”

     

    Jackman has starred in two spin-off films: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine and is due to appear in a third. Wolverine III, as it is currently known, will be released in 2017. When Jackman finally says goodbye to his role in 2017, he will have appeared in nine movies as Wolverine.

    U-Mumba to clash against Jaipur Pink Panthers in Pro Kabaddi League finale

    MUMBAI: As many as 218 million viewers tuned into the Star Sports Pro-Kabaddi Leagues’ opening game. The rustic, ancient and Indian contact sport game has finally found its due respect from Indian audiences and after a month of entertaining Indian audiences in a never seen before avatar, the finals are here.

     

     

    The Leagues’ two giants; U –Mumba and Jaipur Pink Panthers will clash in the finals that will take place at the National Sports Club of India in Mumbai on 31 August at 7:45 pm. Ironically, it was these two teams that had kicked off the tournament wherein the Ronnie Screwvala owned U-Mumba team won over the Abhishek Bachchan owned Jaipur franchise at the very same stadium.

     

     

    Hoarding around the city and posts on social media have been announcing the big finale. The broadcast of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi is on Star Sports 2, Star Gold and starsports.com.

     

    In its glory days, the sport enjoyed a rich heritage where it was practiced during festivals and after harvest as a matter of celebration. Star’s endeavour to restore that festive air around Kabaddi and set it in today’s context with world-class production, modern indoor stadiums, mat surface courts, jazzy music along with celebrity engagement to make it more appealing to the youth seems to have truly worked its charm. 

     

  • Nach Baliye 2 finale on 18 December

    MUMBAI: After 13 long weeks of perspiration, stress, anxiety, anticipation and a whole lot of naach-gaana, the much-awaited NACH BALIYE 2 Finale is here… the two final Jodis Jodi No.8 – Tina-Hussain, and Jodi No. 2 – Gouri-Yash, gear up for the ‘Elaan-E-Jung’, the ‘Nach Baliye 2 Champions’ title.

    The final competition this year will go live and India ki jantaa will vote to choose their most deserving winner of 2006. Live voting on Star One from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm for the final episode to be aired on Monday 18 December.
     

    The solo round will test their individual dancing skills against each other – Tina Vs Gouri and Hussain Vs Yash. A Jugalbandi will see the 2 couples perform against each other to fight for the Nach Baliye 2 title. The judges have applauded, appreciated and have given their verdict but the fate of these two couples is entirely in the hands of the Indian audience!

    This is not all, nostalgia is in the air too. The finale episode will have the eliminated eight celebrity couples come together to enthrall the audience one last time…and compete for the ‘Dumdaar’…’Majedaar’… and ‘Jodidaar’ category of special awards!

    ‘The special episode will be filled with surprise performances by the esteemed jury as well as the hosts – Sangeeta and Shabbir. Watch the gorgeous Malaika Arora Khan burn the dance floor on ‘Yeh Mera Dil’, while legendary dancer Saroj Khan takes centre stage with ‘Man Saat Saumndar all on the 18 December 2006!
