    Sony Pictures Networks India’s content-head Ashish Golwalkar resigns

    Mumbai: Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) India head content for Sonyliv & Sony Entertainment Television Ashish Golwalkar has decided to move on. He completed his six-year association with the channel successfully.  

    At SPN, he was responsible for the content programming on its flagship general entertainment channel (GEC) Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and its OTT platforms Sonyliv. While he was at Sony, it rolled out hit web series such as Scam: 1992, Rocket Boys, Undekhi, Avrodh, Gullak, Tabbar, The Whistleblower, Cubicles among others. He also was behind Shark Tank India and the revival of Indian Idol on SET.

    Golwalkar has more than 24 years of experience in sales and marketing, content syndication, brand management and content creation. He wrote/co-wrote multiple award-winning non-scripted formats during his association with leading broadcasters Sony Pictures Networks, Zee Entertainment Enterprises and Star India (Disney Star).

    Mumbai: 9X Media’s chief business officer Punit Pandey has decided to move on after a long stint of 15 years.

    Pandey has been part of the 9X Media journey right from the start and has played a crucial role in the success of the network. Being part of 9X Media’s executive team, Pandey has been working closely with the board of directors to drive the next phase of growth for the network.

    Pandey said, “I have had the most exciting and fulfilling journey at 9X Media Network. I am proud to be a part of the Network’s founding story. There hasn’t been a dull moment ever, as I have had the opportunity to work on varied roles with diverse mandates! From a single music television channel, 9X Media has evolved into India’s largest music television network, comprising several satellite channels, an Indie music label and compelling and unique digital products. Having worked for over 3 decades in the media and entertainment sector, I have now decided to take a short break before announcing my next move. I am pleased to leave behind a large tribe of happy music aficionados who have grown with 9X Media’s music television channels!”

    An industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in the media and entertainment sector, Pandey has also worked with some of the most iconic media brands like MTV, Zee TV, Rediff.com, Radio Mirchi, Mid-day and the Reliance Enterprise Business, among others.

    Netflix’s brand & content marketing lead Dipashree Das moves on

    Mumbai: Netflix brand and content marketing lead Dipashree Das has moved on after a six-year association. Based out of Mumbai, she was a manager in Netflix’s marketing team focusing on film launches across India and Southeast Asia (SEA).

    “I recently made the decision to wrap up an almost 6-year stint at a place I have had the highest honour of calling my professional home, Netflix. Oh, and what a wild ride it has been! Netflix is a place like no other, it changes you, redefines you, bends you out of shape, makes you believe you in yourself in a measure you didn’t think possible. I learnt much more than I was ever able to contribute,” she said in a LinkedIn post.

    She also hinted that she has joined another entertainment company at an Asia Pacific and China (APAC) level role.

    Das was responsible for launching some of Netflix’ biggest successes in India including “Haseen Dilruba”, “Ludo” and Sacred Games season two.

    With over 18 years of experience, Das has been responsible for launching and architecting brands across India and SEA. Prior to Netflix, she was associated with Singtel. She has had stints at Channel NewsAsia, Oak3 Films, NDTV and Unilever.

    Zee Media CEO Sudhir Chaudhary quits to pursue entrepreneurial venture

    Mumbai: News broadcaster Zee Media on Friday said its chief executive officer Sudhir Zee Media CEO Sudhir Chaudhary quits to pursue entrepreneurial venture.

    Chaudhary was associated with the news broadcaster for over 10 years. His resignation was announced during the closing of business hours on 1 July 2022 in a regulatory filing by Zee Media Corporation without specifying the reason.

    The filing puzzling stated that the company has initiated the process of nominating  Zee Media chief business officer Abhay Ojha as key managerial personnel in place of Chaudhary. However, as Indiantelevision.com reported on 19 June, Ojha had passed away due to a cardiac arrest.

    As per a report by Newslaundry, the editors of Zee News, Zee Business and Zee 24 Taas will report to president – group strategy and innovation and WION will report directly to the publisher.  

    Chaudhary’s decision to quit was a result of his own deliberations to start his own enterprise.

    He was associated with Zee Media for over a decade. Zee Media owns and operates 14 news channels in ten different languages and is one of the largest news networks in the country.

    Mumbai: After a 15-year stellar stint at Endemol Shine India, Abhishek Rege has decided to move on from his role as CEO. Rege will work closely with his successor (once announced) and the Endemol Shine India team during the transition.

    The key force behind the company’s success over the years, Rege has been pivotal in driving an upward trajectory at Endemol Shine India with a proven success record. Having joined Endemol in 2007 as head of commercial and legal, being elevated to chief operating officer in 2012 and then chief executive officer in 2017, has since then led the company to great heights delivering multi-fold growth for the company.     OneOTT Intertainment CEO Yugal Kishore Sharma moves on

    Mumbai: OneOTT Intertainment (OIL) chief executive officer Yugal Kishore Sharma has chosen to move on after a successful six-year assignment. OneOTT Intertainment is the broadband subsidiary of Nxtdigital.

    Sharma will pursue new ventures in the field of sports and e-sports and nurture Hindustan FC, a football club he has been associated with for several years, said the statement. 

    Sharma has led and built up the broadband business of the media group in India’s fourth-largest private ISP (internet service provider) with over one million subscribers. A telecom industry veteran, Sharma has been instrumental in driving OneOTT Intertainment and building up the various verticals, especially the innovative and highly successful ISP strategic partnership aggregator model.

    “Yugal has played a pivotal role in the significant growth of OIL through his radical thinking, innovative strategies and evolving business models over the years,” said OneOTT Intertainment chairman AK Das. “Today, OIL is a highly respected brand across 150 cities and towns with a very high quality of service, with customer centricity at its core.     Titus Upputuru and Ayesha Ghosh exit Taproot dentsu

    Mumbai: Taproot dentsu’s national creative director Titus Upputuru and chief executive officer Ayesha Ghosh have moved on from the agency. The development was confirmed by dentsu Creative India CEO Amit Wadhwa in a statement to IndianTelevision.com.

    “Both Ayesha and Titus are great talents, and I am thankful to them for all their contributions at dentsu, ” said Amit Wadhwa. “As we gear up for our next phase of growth and continue to pursue our global ambitions into becoming the most integrated agency of the world, we will keep transitioning more and more of our strong & young powerhouses into our leaders of tomorrow.”

    “We will also continue to add some exceptionally new talents who will embark with us on this fresh & exciting journey,” he further added.

    At Taproot, Ghosh was elevated as CEO in June 2021 and was responsible for both Mumbai and Gurgaon offices. Previously, she headed the agency’s Mumbai office. Ghosh joined Taproot Dentsu in December 2015.

    Titus Upputuru was promoted to the role of NCD at Taproot Dentsu Gurgaon in March this year and was leading the agency’s Gurgaon creative team. Titus had also been entrusted with the additional charge of leading integrated solutions for dentsu Creative India. Before that, he was the creative head at the agency, having joined the agency in April 2011.

    Mumbai: Joy Chakraborthy has decided to step down as CEO of Goldmines Telefilms and is serving his three-month notice period. He joined the company in January 2022.

    “Since the time I joined Goldmines Telefilms, my promoter Manish (Shah) and I have worked in tandem to take our network to a new height in terms of viewership, brand perception, revenue etc.,” Chakraborthy told IndianTelevision.com. “We have seen monthly revenues jump more than three times what it was when I joined, with full implementation of sales processes and planning. During this period, we have also launched two more channels which will also be leaders in their genre.”

    “In spite of this growing curve, Manish and I have had certain differences in the principles of running a company, which can happen between any promoter and CEO. Keeping these in mind we have decided to part ways in an amicable way. I will be serving out my notice period as per my contract,” he further said.

    Chakraborthy is a media and entertainment industry veteran with almost three decades of experience. He has held several leadership roles including Enterr10 Television Pvt Ltd CEO, TV18 Broadcast Ltd president and CEO,  Bennett Coleman and Co Ltd director, TV Today Network CEO and  Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd executive director. He was also associated with Star TV as executive vice president.

    Disney Star India head of ad sales Nitin Bawankule moves on

    Mumbai: Disney Star India head of ad sales Nitin Bawankule has decided to move on from the company, highly placed sources have confirmed to IndianTelevision.com on Thursday. He has been associated with the company since October 2019.

    At Disney Star India, Bawankule was responsible for ad sales for linear entertainment and sports channels and OTT platform Disney+ Hotstar.

    He was previously associated with Google as country director for Google Cloud in India. In a career spanning more than 27 years, Bawankule has been associated with companies such as Dell, Motorola India, Whirlpool India and Godrej Appliances.

    He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

    Disney+ Hotstar’s Sunil Rayan moves on

    Mumbai: Disney+ Hotstar India president and head Sunil Rayan has decided to move on from the company due to personal reasons, sources have confirmed to IndianaTelevision.com on Thursday. He will be associated with the company until the end of May. 

    Rayan oversaw Disney+ Hotstar’s overall business in India. He was responsible for driving scale, innovation and breadth of content.

    He joined Disney+ Hotstar India from Google where he worked for eight years, and last served as the GM and managing director, cloud for games. 

    Rayan has global experience – having scaled businesses in the US, setting up large teams in South East Asia, and working with super app players in Latin America. He has also worked with Infosys, iGATE Mastech, and IBM.

    He completed his bachelor of engineering in computer science from Madras University in 1996, after which he moved to the US in 1997.
