    MUMBAI: Even as Sun TV continued to hold its position at the top across genres in week 4 according to BARC India All India (U+R) : 4+ Individuals, Hindi general entertainment channel Star Plus overtook Colors and perched at the second spot.

    What’s more, while Sony Pal and Sony Max made an entry in the list of top 10 channels across genres this week, Star Gold and Zee Telugu made an exit.

    Even with a decline in ratings, Sun TV continued to rule the list at the pole position with 992291 (‘000s) followed by Star Plus in the second slot with 763739 (‘000s). Colors was pushed down to number three with 745916 (‘000s). 

    Zee TV with 743991 (‘000s) and Zee Anmol with 667604 (‘000s) maintained their position in the fourth and fifth place respectively in week 4.

    Meanwhile, Star Utsav with 491425 (‘000s) jumped up one rung in week 4 to take the sixth place.

    Sony Max made an entry into the list at the seventh position with 468771 (‘000s), whereas ETV Telugu held on to its eighth position with 447786 (‘000s).

    Life OK saw a considerable drop from last week’s sixth position to the ninth place in week 4 with 426773 (‘000s), whereas Sony Pal made its presence felt in the tenth slot with 423516 (‘000s).

    MUMBAI: Even though Sun TV declined in ratings, the channel continued to lead across genres in the top slot. On the other, week 3 also witnessed Zee Telugu entering the Top 10 list, according to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) all India ratings.

     

    Star Gold, which had exited the Top 10 channels’ list  across genres in week 2, made a comeback again this week.

     

    Sun TV garnered the first position with 1020877 (‘000s) as against 1125134 (‘000s) in week 2 followed by Colors in the second position with 746629 (‘000s), whereas Star Plus with 735363 (‘000s) secured the third slot.  

     

    Zee Networks’ Hindi general entertainment channel, Zee TV was fourth in line with 701748 (‘000s) while its FTA channel Zee Anmol stood at the fifth poistion with 641645 (‘000s).

     

    Life OK with 445691 (‘000s) and Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav with 440844 (‘000s) grabbed the sixth and seventh spots respectively.

     

    ETV Telugu with 418234 (‘000s) bagged the eighth slot followed by Star India’s movie channel Star Gold with 415633 (‘000s) in the ninth spot.

     

    While Zee Telugu stood at number ten with 401726 (‘000s), Sony Max, which was in tenth position last week, made an exit in week 3.

    MUMBAI: With a rise in ratings, Sun TV continues to lead across genres and becomes the highest gainer in the list while all Hindi general entertainment channel (GECs) including Colors, Star Plus, Zee TV and Life OK witnessed a fall in ratings in week 51 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India ratings.

    Sun TV garnered the first spot with 1089988 (000Sums) followed by Colors, which saw a drop in ratings but secured the second position with 766353 (000Sums) as against 768239 (000Sums) in week 50.

    Star Plus in the third place also witnessed a drop and received 732209 (000Sums) against 759484 (000Sums) in the previous week.

    Though Zee TV saw a decline in ratings, it managed to grab the fourth place with 720437 (000Sums) as against 733866 (000Sums) followed by Zee Network’s FTA channel Zee Anmol, which slipped down at number five with 713998 (000Sums).  

    Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav stood at number six with 516870 (000Sums) followed by Life OK in the seventh spot with 450765 (000Sums) against 509538 (000Sums) in week 50.

    From the tenth spot, Maa TV managed to climb up at number eight with 409981 (000Sums) followed by Sony Max in the ninth berth with 409006 (000Sums) and ETV Telugu fell down to the tenth slot from the eighth position with 406176 (000Sums).

    MUMBAI: Sun TV made a comeback after two weeks and secured the leadership position across genres in week 50 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India. Colors replaced the Hindi GEC leader Star Plus in the second slot, pushing the latter in the third position.

    Sony Entertainment Television exited the top 10 list in week 50.

    Sun TV garnered the first spot with 997647 (000Sums) followed by Colors in the second slot with 768239 (000Sums) and Star Plus in the third place with 759484 (000Sums).

    Zee Anmol witnessed a drop in ratings but stood at number four with 754273 (000Sums) as against 780847 (000Sums) in the previous week.

    Zee TV too witnessed a downfall and grabbed the fifth spot with 733866 (000Sums) as against 781916 (000Sums) in week 49.  

    Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav also saw a fall in ratings and stood at number six with 509538 (000Sums) as against 571080 (000Sums) in the previous week.

    Life OK grabbed the seventh position with 453849 (000Sums) followed by ETV Telugu with 448546 (000Sums) in the eight slot. Zee Cinema with 423529 (000Sums) was in the ninth position followed by Maa TV in the tenth position with 401343 (000Sums).

    MUMBAI: Star India’s regional channel Star Jalsha maintained its numero uno position in the Bangla regional genre, whereas amongst Bhojpuri regional channels Bhojpuri Cinema secured the leadership position.

     

    Colors Kannada led the Kannada regional channels genre, while Asianet bagged the first spot in the Malayalam regional channels genre.

     

    On the other hand, Zee Marathi continued to lead the genre, while ETV Telugu and Sarthak TV continued to dominate their respective genres in week 49 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U + R) data.

     

    Bangla GECs

     

    Star Jalsha continued to lead the genre and secured the first position with 228859 (000Sums) followed by Zee Bangla in the second berth with 162105 (000Sums) and Jalsha Movies on the third spot with 68361 (000 Sums). Colors Bangla with 37549 (000Sums) and Zee Bangla Cinema with 31155 (000Sums) bagged the fourth and fifth places respectively.

     

    Bhojpuri GECs

     

    Bhojpuri Cinema led the Bhojpuri genre with 20488 (000Sums) followed by Big Magic Ganga in the second spot with 17196 (000Sums), whereas Dangal TV was perched on the third spot with 9517 (000Sums). Dabangg with 5728 (000Sums) and ETV Bihar Jharkhand with 3201 (000Sums) were placed at the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

     

    Kannada GECs

     

    Colors Kannada continued to lead the genre and took its place in the first position with 302974 (000Sums) followed by Suvarna in the second spot with 1541271 (000Sums) and Udaya Movies in the third berth with 130501 (000Sums). Zee Kannada grabbed the fourth place with 125042 (000Sums) while Udaya TV bagged the fifth place with 118442 (000Sums).

     

    Marathi GECs

     

    Zee Marathi continued to lead the genre with 145301 (000Sums) followed by Colors Marathi in the second place with 80690 (000Sums) with Zee Talkies placed in the third position with 57811 (000Sums). Star Pravah with 41435 (000Sums) and DD Sahyadri with 19008 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth slots respectively.

     

    Oriya GECs

     

    Sarthak TV secured the leadership position in the genre with 113465 (000Sums) followed by Tarang TV in the second spot with 58075 (000Sums) and Colors Oriya in the third place with 20289 (000Sums). Odisha TV with 15850(000Sums) and Prarthana with 12351 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth berths respectively.

     

    Telugu GECs

     

    ETV Telugu secured the leadership position with 420239 (000Sums) followed by Zee Telugu in the second spot with 340131 (000Sums), while Maa TV was on the third spot with 339978 (000Sums). On the other hand, Gemini TV with 255875 (000Sums) and Gemini Movies with 180736 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth berths respectively.

     

    Malayalam GECs

     

    In week 49, Asianet continued to lead the genre with 376542 (000Sums) followed by Mazhavil Manorama in the second place with 99395 (000Sums) and Surya TV was placed third with 80013 (000Sums). Flowers TV with 68404 (000Sums) and Asianet Movies with 53985 (000Sums) grabbed the fourth and fifth slots respectively.

    MUMBAI: Sun TV saw a rise in ratings and secured the leadership position across genres in week 47 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India, all India (U+R) data.

     

    Sun TV garnered first position with 1177131 (000Sums) followed by Star Plus with 880351 (000Sums) in second place and Zee Anmol on the third spot with 755888 (000Sums).

     

    Colors with 752613 (000Sums) grabbed fourth spot followed by Zee TV at the fifth position with 689444 (000Sums). Star Ustav grabbed the sixth position with 546827 (000Sums).

     

    Sony Max with 509918 (000Sums) bagged the seventh position in the segment while Zee Cinema stood at number eight, up from last week’s tenth position with 470171 (000Sums). Life Ok stepped down to number nine with 469811 (000Sums), while ETV Telugu stood at the tenth spot with 439697 (000Sums).

    MUMBAI: Tamil general entertainment channel (GEC) Sun TV continues to maintain its number one position across genres in India according to week 43 all India (U+R) data from Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC).

     

    What’s more, there’s one new entrant in Top 10 channels list in Star India’s Telugu language channel Maa TV. On the other hand, DD National dropped off the radar from the Top 10 channels in week 43.

     

    Sun TV witnessed the downfall in ratings but secured pole position in week 43 with 1087793 (000Sums) against 1151458 (000Sums) in the previous week, followed by Hindi GEC leader Star Plus in the second spot with 860191 (000Sums) and Zee Anmol in the third place with 723314 (000Sums). 

     

    Zee TV was in the fourth spot with 707981 (000Sums) while Colors, which was on third position last week, grabbed fifth the position with 687321 (000Sums). Sony Max ranked sixth with 640992 (000Sums).

     

    Maa TV made its entry in the Top 10 list across genres at the seventh position with 561415 (000Sums) followed by Life OK on the eighth spot on the list with 523069 (000Sums).

     

    Star India’s FTA channel Star Ustav bagged the ninth spot with 498007 (000Sums), while ETV Telugu made a comeback at the tenth spot this week.

    MUMBAI: Despite the controversy surrounding its owners in recent times, Tamil general entertainment channel (GEC) – Sun TV has come out as the numero uno channel across genres on an All India basis with BARC India’s rural data rollout, and is even ahead of popular Hindi GECs like Star Plus and Colors.

    In week 41 of the BARC India data, Sun TV emerged as the leader across genres in the All India (Urban + Rural) market with 1153449 (000Sums).

    Hindi GECs, which dominated the Top 10 channels chart were Star Plus in the second spot, Colors at third and Zee TV in the fourth spot. The free to air (FTA) channel Zee Anmol grabbed the second position, while Star Utsav was in the seventh position, followed by Life OK in the eight spot.

    While the chart for the Top 10 channels across genres was mostly dominated by Hindi GECs, apart from Sun TV, another regional channel, which managed to appear on the list was ETV Telugu in the ninth position with 447160 (000Sums).

    Two Hindi movie channels namely Star Gold with 546919 (000Sums) and Zee Cinema with 427533 (000Sums) were amongst the top 10 channels across genres in the sixth and tenth position respectively.

    BENGALURU:  Network18 Media & Investments Limited (Network18) announced operating profit of Rs 61 crore in Q3-2014 which was almost six times the operating profit of Rs 10.6 crore in Q3-2013 and more than triple the operating profit of Rs 20.1 crore in the immediate trailing quarter.

     

    Note: Proforma results are assuming financial consolidation of ETV News (100 per cent) and ETV Entertainment (50 per cent). On 22 Jan 2014, post receipt of required regulatory approvals, TV18 completed the acquisition of the ETV channels – 100 per cent of ETV News, 50 per cent of ETV Entertainment and 24.5 per cent of ETV Telugu.

     

    Revenue for the quarter grew by 4.33 per cent to Rs 727.6 crore in Q3-2014 from Rs 697.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year and 8.63 per cent more than the Rs 669.8 crore during Q2-2014.

     

    Proforma reported revenues on a consolidated basis stood at Rs 595.9 crore for the quarter, up five per cent over prior year. Proforma Operating Profit (EBITDA) came in at Rs 94.5 crore (up 79 per cent y-o-y) led by a strong performance in ETV News says the company.

     

    Its Digital Content and Commerce business showed growth along with more than halving of operational loss, saw a growth of 25.25 per cent to Rs 149.8 crore in the current quarter from Rs 119.6 crore in Q3-2013 and by 20 per cent from the Rs 124.8 crore in the immediate trailing quarter. The operational loss reported by this segment at Rs (14.1) crore was less than half (45 per cent) the loss of Rs 31.3 crore reported in Q3-2013, but was 51.6 per cent more than the loss of Rs (9.3) crore in Q2-2014.

     

    Let us look at the other figures reported by Network18:

     

    Network18’s Television and Motion Pictures segment reported (mainly TV 18) reported revenue of Rs 525.5 crore in Q3-2013, which was 2.6 per cent more than the Rs 512.4 crore in Q3-2013 and 8.75 per cent more than the Rs 483.2 crore in Q2-2014. This segment reported an operating profit of Rs 77.5 crore in Q3-2014, up 61.12 per cent as compared to the Rs 48.1 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Q-o-q, its EBIDTA was almost double (1.96 times) the Rs 39.6 crore in Q2-2014.

     

    Revenue from its other segment, Allied Businesses saw a drop of (28) per cent to Rs 58.1 per cent in Q3-2014 from Rs 80.7 crore in Q3-2013 and a fall of (12.8) per cent from Rs 66.6 crore in Q2-2014. Loss from this segment fell 34 per cent to Rs 6 crore in Q3-2014 from Rs 9.1 crore in Q3-2013 and fell by 36.8 per cent from Rs 9.5 crore in Q2-2014.

     

    Network18’s net loss for the quarter for Q3-2014 was Rs (11.72) crore as compared to a profit of Rs 6.85 crore in the corresponding quarter of last fiscal and less than a third (29.4 per cent)  of the Rs (39.84) crore reported during the immediate trailing quarter.

     

    Total expense for Q3-2014 at Rs 687.59 crore was (3.2) per cent lower than the Rs 710.27 crore in Q3-2013 and 2.6 per cent more than the Rs 670.1 crore in Q2-2014.

     

    Network18 paid (1.8) per cent less towards programming cost in Q3-2014 at Rs 155.94 crore a compared to the Rs 158.83 crore in Q3-2013 and 8.4 per cent Rs 143.84 crore in Q2-2014.

     

    Distribution, advertising and business promotion expense for Q3-2014 at Rs 221.27 crore  was (11) per cent less than the Rs 228.53 crore in Q3-2013 and (5.4) per cent less than the Rs 233.77 crore in Q2-2014.
