    iTV Nework ropes in Deepak Saxena as general manager – sales

    MUMBAI: The  Kartikeya Sharma founded iTV Network, has appointed  Deepak Saxena as general manager – sales, effective January 2025. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Saxena is set to play a pivotal role in steering the company’s sales strategy during a time of significant growth and expansion.

    Saxena joins iTV Network from Rachna Television., where he held the position of deputy general manager of sales for NTV, a Telugu news channel. In this role, he demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic skill, managing a talented sales team and developing effective sales initiatives that enhanced the channel’s market presence.

    Before his tenure at NTV, Saxena was the head of sales and marketing (North) at Sakshi TV, a leading Telugu news channel. He played an instrumental role in the launch and establishment of the channel in northern India, overseeing the sales operations in Delhi and Kolkata regions. His vision and execution contributed to Sakshi TV becoming a recognized name in the competitive landscape of regional news broadcasting.

    Earlier in his career, Saxena held key positions at ETV Network, where he served as group head for Hindi regional channels based in New Delhi. His strategic approach led to significant airtime sales within a cluttered market, allowing Hindi regional channels to carve out a niche for themselves. His career began at Amar Ujala group, where he advanced from space sales in print media to becoming an Advertising Officer.

    Saxena’s academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in economics from Aligarh Muslim University and a post graduate diploma in marketing Management from Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management and Development Studies, where he graduated with first-class honors. This combination of practical experience and academic excellence has equipped him with a solid foundation in both business strategy and marketing prowess.

    IndiaCast issues disconnection notice to Independent TV

    MUMBAI: Viacom18 and TV18’s distribution arm IndiaCast has issued a disconnection notice to direct-to-home operator (DTH) Independent TV (Reliance Big TV) over non-payment of subscription fees.

    IndiaCast, which also distributes Eenadu Television channels in India barring the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, intends to yank off all its channels from the operator within three weeks of the notice, which has been published in a Hindi daily.

    “This is to inform all the subscribers of Reliance Big TV/Independent TV that some or all channels of Viacom18 and ETV Network will be shut down after 3 weeks starting from the issue date of public notice because of unpaid dues,” the notice says.

    In case the two parties fail to resolve the dispute, Independent TV consumers could miss out on channels like ETV, ETV Plus, ETV, Life, ETV Cinema, ETV Abhiruchi, ETV Telangana and ETV Andhra Pradesh, CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz, CNN News18, News18 India, News18 Tamil Nadu, News18 Lokmat, History channel, FYI TV18, News18 Kerala, MTV, Colors, Rishtey, Nick, Vh1, Sonic, Comedy Central, Colors Infinity, MTV Beats, Rishtey Cineplex, Colors Super, Colors HD, MTV Beats HD, Colors Gujarati, Colors Marathi, Colors Bangla, Colors Kannada, Colors Odia, News18 Uttar Pradesh Uttaranchal, News18 MP Chhattisgarh, News18 Rajasthan, News18 Urdu, News18 Bihar Jharkhand, News18 Kannada and Colors Tamil.

    In accordance with the TRAI’s tariff order, IndiaCast recently bundled the networks’ 57 channels (42 SD and 15 HD) in three packs – budget, value and family. The networks have also introduced 10 channel bundles, in SD and HD versions, mapped to its markets (Hindi, North East, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Bengal, Maharashtra, Orissa, Telugu and Tamil) to allow the consumer to choose from.

    New Delhi: In the intensely competitive regional news genre in Rajasthan, ETV Rajasthan has established itself as a clear and dominant No. 1 channel. According to ETV Rajasthan’s interpretation of BARC data, with a market share of 78%*, the channel is clearly the preferred choice for the people of Rajasthan. The year 2017 saw ETV Rajasthan grow by leaps and bound – in fact the channel’s impressions jumped by 410%** in the time period Week 01, 2017 to Week 01, 2018. As per the latest BARC data, the channel’s market share is almost 5 times that of its nearest competition and is 3.6 times that of all other channels combined*.

    In the critical evening prime time band, ETV Rajasthan is 5.8 times ahead of the nearest compeition.***

    The brand had refreshed its screen look & programming line-up in 2017. The refreshed content and fresh packaging has clearly appealed to the viewers and this is clearly reflecting in the channels’ growing ratings.

    Narendra Modi picks ETV network for first election interview

    MUMBAI: Ever since Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi, gave his first ever television interview after making his political debut in 2004 to Times Now editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, everyone has been waiting with abated breathe which channel will BJP’s prime ministerial candidate opt for.

     

    Finally, the wait is over as Narendra Modi has decided to go the other way and give his first election interview to a regional channel, ETV Gujarati. While the channel’s senior anchor Hari Shankar Vyas was picked to grill Modi, the interview has been conducted in Hindi rather than Gujarati, a move to reach out to a larger audience.

     

    Shot on 27 March, the one and a half hour episode will be telecast across the ETV Network’s Gujarati news channel, Urdu channel and Hindi news channels (ETV UP/Uttarakhand, ETV MP/Chhattisgarh, ETV Bihar/Jharkhand, ETV Rajasthan) on 31 March at 8:30 pm. The network is currently exploring options to also simultaneously telecast it on the ETV GECs as well.

     

    Other regional ETV channels such as Kannada, Marathi, Bangla and Odiya will telecast it on a later date and time, that hasn’t been fixed as yet. These will have subtitles in their respective languages.

     

    ETV channels are now under Network18 in which Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is a shareholder. Network18’s other news channels such as CNN-IBN and IBN7 will also air the interview.

     

    The promos for the interview will start airing by 7:00 pm today.

    NEW DELHI : ETV and Honda created a platform for the viewers of ETV to personally meet the Bollywood superstar, THE BOSS : Akshay Kumar along with the other star cast of the movie today, at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi.

    ETV partnered with Viacom 18’s movie BOSS, to promote the movie through a customized contest designed for it’s viewers to participate and win couple movie tickets, as well as a chance to meet Akshay Kumar in person. The initiative was presented by Honda Dream Neo.

    The BOSS contest, that was aired on ETV Uttar Pradesh/Uttarakhand, ETV Madhya Pradesh/Chhattisgarh, ETV Rajasthan and ETV Bihar/Jharkhand, created an excitement among the viewers to meet Akshay Kumar. An aggressive participation was seen during the contest.

    10 winners were selected at the end of the contest. Sanjeev Srivastava, from Kota, Sridhar from Dehradun, Yogendra from Noida, Bhagat Aggarwal from Gorakhpur were the winners to name a few. Akshay Kumar was present at the event to meet these winners personally in order to congratulate them, get pictures clicked and sign autographs for them. Immense excitement and nervousness was seen among the winners as it was a dream come true experience for all of them.

    Senior representatives from ETV, Honda and Viacom 18 were present at this do.

    Honda and Viacom 18 expressed their gratitude and congratulated ETV to have initiated this activity like never before and mentioned about their willingness to associate in the future too.
