    MUMBAI: EPIC – India’s Storytellers and a showcase for the best India-centric content, announced a content partnership with Amar Chitra Katha – the custodians of India's greatest stories. As part of the collaboration between two of India’s most popular storytellers, the tales from ACK Media and Tinkle on history, folklore, science, heritage, and culture will be made available on EPIC channel and on the channel’s premium video-on-demand platform EPIC On.     ACK Media is the creator of several evergreen characters, and series and includes classics like ‘Suppandi & Friends Animated Series’ & ‘Anu Club – Where Learning Meets Fun’. The collaboration will also include original ACK Stories as short motion-comics episodes that celebrate India’s greatest stories around our legacy, history, and mythology.     MUMBAI: 16th October 2019 marks the 74th anniversary of the inception of ‘The Food and Agriculture Organization’ of the UN. Since 1979 this historic event has been annually celebrated as World Food Day in over 150 countries. Joining the celebrations, EPIC Channel – India Ka Apna Infotainment – brings to you a delectable day for mind, body, and soul. Starting at 7:00 am to 12:00 midnight the channel has curated a savoury offering of 4 eclectic shows that celebrate the many gastronomical facets of India.

    The platter will include EPIC Channel’s marquee food series ‘Raja Rasoi Aur Andaaz Anokha’. Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar demonstrates through the show, the little nuances that make for the several regional and royal cuisines of India. Adding that something extra to the herbs and spice is the show ‘Tyohaar Ki Thaali’. Hosted by renowned TV personality Sakshi Tanwar, the show illustrates the reverence that Indian culture has for food. It explores the significance of traditional dishes associated with the many festivals celebrated across the nation. Also part of EPIC Channel’s 4 course offering is a drizzle of nostalgia in the show ‘Lost Recipes’. Chef Aditya Bal takes you on a trip down memory lane as we rediscover the styles of cooking that have been forgotten over time. The much anticipated ‘EPIC India Quiz Challenge’ is a one-of-a-kind, India centric quiz show that promises to be a brain teaser for participants and viewers alike. Hosted by multi-faceted anchor, actor, singer, Meiyang Chang; the series will air from 14th October 2019, every Monday at 7:00 PM, with a repeat telecast at 10 pm.

    Aimed at challenging the brightest minds between 5th to 10th standard from across the country; the quiz show is built to test their ‘IQ’ or ‘India Quotient’. Teasing and tantalizing questions across history, politics, geography, current affairs, mythology, general knowledge, and several diverse disciplines will leave the participants & viewers enriched in ways like never before.

    Shortlisted from 3000 registrations across 70 cities, 500+ schools battled it out to make it to the sets in Mumbai for the final face-off.     The tourism day special will showcase hand-picked episodes from the channel’s most popular shows like Ekaant, Kahi Suni, Way Back Home, Road Less Travelled, and from EPIC Specials- Himalayan Misfits, Jewels of the Sea, and Curry Pow for the viewers to witness some unknown tales about places whose significance and beauty has been forgotten over the years.

    Himalayan Misfits, which will grace TV screen as a world television premiere, is a unique documentary that explores the unparalleled beauty of the Himalayas through three extreme sports that have seen their inception among its landscape.

    Regiment Diaries Returns with Season 2 on EPIC Channel

    MUMBAI: EPIC Channel, the country’s only India-centric Hindi language infotainment channel announced the second season for its marquee show ‘Regiment Diaries’. Season one of the TV series took viewers behind the heavily guarded gates of thirteen army regimental centers where soldiers – both serving, and retired, shared their life experiences from times of peace and war. Following the overwhelming response for season one, EPIC Channel is all set to bring back the second season of Regiment Diaries.

    A regiment is a soldiers’ second family and each regiment has it’s own illustrious history, and glorious traditions. Season two will continue the narrative of the Indian army from where it was left off and bring timeless tales to warm the heart, moisten the eye, and leave viewers in even greater awe of the bravest children of India. The second season will profile the Parachute Regiment, Kumaon Regiment, Bihar Regiment, Mahar Regiment, Gorkha Regiment, and Jammu & Kashmir Rifles. The 6-episode season provides insights into their training, lineage, legacy, and all that goes into turning a civilian into a soldier.

    Earlier, season one showcased stories from Jat Regiment, Madras Regiment, The Grenadiers, Mechanised Infantry, Madras Engineers Group, Brigade Of The Guards, Rajputana Rifles, The Garhwal Rifles, Dogra Regiment, Punjab Regiment, Maratha Light Infantry, Sikh Regiment and Rajput Regiment. Regiment Diaries season one airs on EPIC TV and is also available to view on demand on EPIC On, and Netflix India.

    Epic launches wildlife and quiz shows to attract new viewers to the channel

    MUMBAI: Epic channel will soon be launching a show on wildlife after experimenting with genres like mythology, sports, food, history, travel, culture etc. Additionally, mid-September will also see the launch of a new quiz show Epic India Quiz Challenge. The new shows are an attempt to garner new and different viewers.

    In an interaction with Indiantelevision.com, Epic channel head – content & programming Akul Tripathi said, “At Epic we are trying to create or curate programming that caters to different interests. We have been providing content regarding infotainment in as many non-conventional ways as possible and we will continue to do that. We believe in the diversity of India and showcasing that through all type of programming categories that are available to us.”

    Epic boasts of a vast content library including Raja Rasoi Aur Anya Kahaniyaan related to food category, Mid Wicket Tales with Naseeruddin Shah, Umeed India, Indian Martial Arts in the sports category, Ekaant, Road Less Travelled, Kahi Suni in the travel category, Devlok with Devdatt Patnik in the mythological genre, Regiment Diary, etc.

    Tripathi mentioned that with every new type of program launch, a new set of audience joins the channel. “We are trying to reach out to different groups of audiences based on the kind of programmes they like watching, so that they come and sample the channel and then they realise that there is a lot more content for them.”

    The channel in association with Rupa Publications also announced a long-term collaboration of adapting its TV shows into books. Following the success of Adrishya, and Khwabon Ka Safar, the partnership launched three books that are literary adaptations of Epic’s immensely popular series – Umeed India, Sharanam, and Dharmakshetra.

    Tripathi said, “We have always been exploring on how we bring our stories to the larger audiences. Television offers a 24-hour window and a finite amount of catalogue. Compared to that, a book has a longer shelf life which can be referred to as and it adds a different dimension. All infotainment things we create are timeless in nature and having it in a book format adds to that timelessness dimension.”

    The partnership with Rupa is a long-term sustained initiative to convert TV shows into books. The upcoming Epic India Quiz challenge will also be adapted in the book format.

    The channel re-launched itself as an infotainment channel on July 2017 and Tripathi believes that the viewership of India-centric programmes has increased. “The genre has immense potential. There is a significant shift or increased interest of viewers to watch factual programming especially about the country which has been deprived to them via infotainment channels in the country because most of the programmes that we had have been skewed towards international content. This has opened up an entirely new genre of content for a lot of people who have seen this kind of content for the first time. The future is going to be about India-centric infotainment content,” opined Tripathi.

    Epic is also striving to show content in other languages such as Tamil, Bengali and even English through its app. “I don’t see anybody else in this space doing this much for the infotainment-loving audience,” said Tripathi.

    MUMBAI: EPIC Channel – India Ka Apna Infotainment, has revealed the line-up for ‘EPIC Specials’, its popular property that showcases extraordinary stories from India. The property will air stories every alternate Saturday, at 12:00 noon, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 10:00 PM.

    The line-up includes amongst others, The Pad Piper, that brings to light the story of the man synonymous with changing the face of menstrual hygiene for women across the country- Arunachalam Muruganantham, and A tent, a truck & talkies, which tells the tale of showman, exhibitor, and genius projector mechanic Anup Jagdale.

    The origins of yoga, and the Kumbh Mela will be explored in Naga, The Eternal Yogi, while Malegaon Ka Superman explores the no-budget film-making industry in Malegaon. EPIC Specials will also feature The Elephant Whisperer and Maya Memsaab that provides a peek into the elephant society in Kaziranga, Assam; and brings to light the unique relationship between man and animal. Also part of this impressive line-up is Rupa’s Boutique, which profiles the bravery and persistence of acid attack victims, and their never dying spirit.

    Some of the popular EPIC Specials, Jungle Ke Bahubali, Air Battle of Srinagar, Rampath, Nandadevi, Brands of India – Royal Enfield, Ekaant Sarhad Par, and Janani, will also continue to be part of the line-up.

    MUMBAI: Kargil Vijay Diwas remembers the sacrifices made by the Indian Armed Forces, in keeping the nation safe from infiltration by the Pakistani Army during the Kargil War of 1999 and commemorates the success of ‘Operation Vijay’, which was launched by the army to clear the Kargil sector after Pakistani troops occupied Indian posts in the region of Jammu and Kashmir.

    2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the completion of ‘Operation Vijay’, and EPIC Channel — India Ka Apna Infotainment — remembers the determination and raw courage of our jawans, and pays them homage by celebrating Vijay Diwas all-day on the channel.

    The special line-up includes World Television Premiere of 'Uri – The Forgotten Battle' –  produced by Major General GD Bakshi, who was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for bravely commanding a battalion during the Kargil war. The film is an authoritative retelling of events that helped the Indian Army delay the Pakistani forces until they were destroyed. Other special features of the line-up include Turning point at Tololing, Killer Squadron, and 1965 Indo – Pakistan War- single episode stories that display the glory of the Indian Armed Forces.

    Also part of the line-up are episodes from EPIC Channel’s hugely popular show – Regiment Diaries – that chronicles the history, achievements, and anecdotes of the regiments of the Indian Army.     EPIC Channel’s ‘Lost Recipes S2’ gets release date

    MUMBAI: EPIC Channel – India Ka Apna Infotainment is renowned for creating premium, genre-defining, India-centric content. The channel is all set to air the second season of one such show – ‘Lost Recipes’, hosted by celebrity chef Aditya Bal, that explored India’s diversity through the history and culture of food.  The show will return to EPIC TV from July 24, 2019 and air every Wednesday at 8:30:00 PM and 10 PM with repeat telecast on Thursdays at 2:30 PM.

    In Lost Recipes, the renowned chef and author travels around the country in search of recipes and food preparations that have been forgotten over time, while exploring the history and culture of the region, and what makes those dishes special and identifiable to them. The show also uncovers fascinating stories about origins of the ingredients, bygone practices, and culinary traditions. Some recipes covered in Season 1 of the show are Pudim la Letri from Mumbai, Monsu Josyoung from Gangtok, and Kabishambardhana Barfi from Kolkata along with several others from Kutch, Hyderabad, Coorg, Srinagar, Bhopal, Puducherry, Lucknow, Goa & Delhi.

    In the second season, host Aditya Bal is back on the quest and through conversations with locals and experts, he finds paths to the past, and to recipes that have are being omitted from cookbooks, and have lost their place of pride in kitchens, both humble and royal.

The channel will soon be launching a quiz show titled ‘EPIC INDIA QUIZ CHALLENGE’ and has roped in the ever-affable Meiyang Chang, popular Bollywood singer and actor to host the show.

    The ‘EPIC INDIA QUIZ CHALLENGE’ is an engaging show designed for intelligent young minds from Class 5th to 10th, from different schools across the country. The show is a quiz competition where teams from schools across India will fight for the crown of having the highest ‘IQ’ i.e. India Quotient.  

    Meiyang Chang has enthralled audiences with his quick wit and charm on the big and small screen as a singer, actor and an anchor. The channel has roped in Chang owing to his uninhibited and likable persona which will be required to create a fun, easy going atmosphere for participant kids as they battle wits on the show.
