    BollywoodLife.com to host its third edition of digital awards on 25 March

    Mumbai: Entertainment news portal BollywoodLife.com has announced the third season of ‘BollywoodLife Awards 2022.’ The two-hour virtual gala session will have a live telecast on 25 March on BollywoodLife.com’s website and social media platforms.

    The digital-only awards will recognise, celebrate and felicitate actors, filmmakers, content creators, and properties in digital space which includes social media and OTT platforms in an unconventional manner. Some of the nomination categories for the awards are Most Popular Comedian, Best Musician on Youtube, Best Beauty Blogger for actors, celebrities, and influencers from the digital world. BollywoodLife.com Awards 2022 will use online voting by the audience and are adding a few more unique aspects to the ceremony this year. 

    Apart from online voting the awards night will also host celebrities such as “Gangubai Kathiawadi” actor Shantanu Maheshwari, actor and casting director Abhishek Banerjee, celebrated actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, “Naagin 6” actress Urvashi Dholakia, TV actor Aashiesh Sharma and more as jury members. As a prelude to the award ceremony, the platform has organised multiple masterclasses from popular celebrities like “83” actor Tahir Raj Bhasin, “Aashram” star Bobby Deol, “Love Hostel” actress Sanya Malhotra, “Badhaai Do” actor Rajkummar Rao and more. With an aim to discuss the current scenario in entertainment and trends 2022, there are power-packed panel discussions with various creators, actors, esteemed members of the film, OTT, and television fraternity.

    As part of the marketing initiative, the first phase of BollywoodLife Awards 2022 will be promoted on the brand’s social media handles and microsites such as BGR, Wion, India.com, etc.

    Nippon TV inks licensing deal with Netflix

    Mumbai: Nippon TV, Japan’s multiplatform entertainment company, has partnered with Netflix for the first time to make 30 of its biggest drama series and entertainment shows available outside Japan, all across Asia.

    The first 15 titles have just started to stream in October. Titles include its mega-hit 2011 drama series “I’m Mita,” “Your Housekeeper,” whose last episode broke records with a 40 per cent viewer rating in Japan and has also been successful as a scripted format and licensed to Korea; “Death Note,” which is a live-action drama based on its widely popular comic series, and “Tokyo Tarareba Girls,” which is also remade from the hit comic series that saw over 1.8 million copies printed throughout Japan.

    From December, another 15 titles will be added, including the 2019 award-winning drama series “Mr Hiiragi’s Homeroom,” “Your Turn to Kill,” and “Life’s Punchline,” which was broadcast this year with almost 14 million total views to date on TVer, a VOD streaming service in Japan. 

    Entertainment shows as part of this deal include the highly popular adventure variety show “The Quest,” and the contest show “Masquerade,” which is one of Nippon TV’s longest-running programs with its over 40 years history.

    “We are very pleased to announce that Netflix will be offering our content to its audience across Asia,” stated Nippon TV head of finished program sales, international business development Keisuke Miyata. “This region is a key part of our continued growth, and now coupled with Netflix’s strength as one of the world’s leading streaming platforms, we are confident that Nippon TV’s titles will be well received by viewers in this prominent new territory for us.”

  • Team ‘Pagglait’ reunites for a three-film deal

    Mumbai: Following the success of “Pagglait”, Balaji Telefilms’ Ekta Kapoor and Sikhya Entertainment’s Guneet Monga have joined hands to sign director Umesh Bist for a three-film deal. The Netflix film released in March was Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms’ first co-production.

    Commenting on their renewed partnership, Balaji Telefilms’ creative producer and executive VP Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh said, “Pagglait resonated with Indian audiences in unimaginable ways. Everyone found a connection with the story and that is Umesh’s biggest strength. Furthermore, the film established equity between Balaji and Sikhya and we’re thrilled to come together to tell stories that are both emotional and entertaining, stories that find their way to the hearts of the audience.”

    Sikhya Entertainment’s founder and CEO Guneet Monga said, “I still remember the day I met Umesh sir. His vision for his stories is unmatched and it is inspiring to see his faith and commitment to a project. Team Balaji has been a delight to work with and we at Sikhya are looking forward to this collaboration. We went through so many amazing experiences together that it feels quite natural to continue this partnership.”

    Speaking about this extended collaboration, filmmaker Umesh Bist shared, “It all started when I first met Guneet in 2018 and there’s no looking back since then. As a filmmaker, all you want is a collaborative ecosystem where the team puts all their might into doing the best for the movie and I am glad I found this in Sikhya and Balaji. The trust they put in a director is rare. As partners, they add on to each other’s strong points, I am excited to take this journey forward with them.”

    The team is soon expected to announce the first project from this deal.
