    BARC week 29: English business news, Hindi news & business news observe ratings increase

    MUMBAI: Times Now continued as the undisputed leader in the English News space while CNBC TV 18 dominated the English business news genre. In the Hindi news genre Aaj Tak continued to lead whereas CNBC Awaaz ranked number one in Hindi Business News.

    According to week 29 Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) All India data, the English news genre has seen mixed ratings. Meanwhile, players in the English business news, Hindi news and Hindi business news space witnessed hike in ratings.  

    English news

    Times Now maintained its first position with 243 Impressions (000s). India Today Television returned to second position with 131 Impressions (000s). CNN News18 took the third berth with 127 Impressions (000s). NDTV 24×7 grabbed the fourth spot with 83 Impressions (000s) whereas News X sustained its fifth position with 66 Impressions (000s).

    English business news

    CNBC TV 18 expanded its ratings securing its number one position with 103 Impressions (000s) as to 72 Impressions (000s) in week 28 followed by ET Now that secured the second slot with 67 Impressions (000s).  NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime with 25 Impressions (000s) and Bloomberg TV with 20 (‘000s) Impressions (000s)  took the third and fourth positions respectively.

    Hindi News

    Aaj Tak witnessed growth in its viewership and stood at the first spot with 78572 Impressions (000s) as compared to 73334 Impressions (000s) in week 28, while India TV took the second position with 74606 Impressions (000s).  India News sustained its third position with 53592 Impressions (000s) followed by ABP News securing the fourth position with 52640 Impressions (000s). News Nation took the fifth position with 49121 Impressions (000s).

    CNBC Awaaz saw an increase in the ratings at the first spot with 839 Impressions (000s) as compared to 733 Impressions (000s) in week 28.  Zee Business stood at the second spot with 666 Impressions (000s) as compared to 522 Impressions (000s) in last week.

    MUMBAI: While on the one hand players in the English news genre observed a substantial increase in ratings, channels in the English business news space witnessed a decline except for Bloomberg TV. Meanwhile, both the Hindi news and business news genres saw a growth in their viewership numbers.

    According to week 28 of BARC’s ratings report, the genre leaders continued to dominate their respective space.

    English News

    Times Now with an increase in ratings remained as the undisputable leader  with 262 Impressions (000s) as compared to 215 Impressions (000s) in week 27. NDTV 24×7 secured the second position with 130 Impressions (000s) followed by India Today Television at the third spot with 109 Impressions (000s).

    CNN News18 with 84 Impressions (000s) held the fourth position, followed by News X on the last rank with 64 Impressions (000s).

    English Business News

    CNBC TV 18 remained on the first spot with 72 Impressions (000s), followed by ET Now at No 2 with 48 Impressions (000s).  NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime bagged third position with 15 Impressions (000s). Bloomberg TV with 11 Impressions (000s) held onto the fourth position.

    Aaj Tak maintained its number one position with 73334 Impressions (000s). India TV bagged the second rank with 65756 impressions (000s), followed by India News on third position with 52552 Impressions (000s).

    ABP News grabbed the fourth spot with 46940 Impressions (000s) while News Nation with 46539 Impressions (000s) took the fifth berth.

    English Movies genre tops the chart with 1.2 % OTS

    MUMBAI: The English movies genre emerged as the top gainer in Chrome’s opportunity to see (OTS) analysis for six metros. The space marked an increase of 1.2 per cent. Movies Now emerged as the most benefited channel with 47.4 percent OTS in week 28.

    Next up, the English news genre which recorded an increase of 0.9 per cent in six metros with Lok Sabha TV leading the genre with 92.2 per cent OTS.

    On the other hand, Music in the Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) booked the third spot in the list of top gainers with a 0.7 per cent increase in OTS. 9XM led the tally with 90.6 per cent OTS.

    Last but not the least, English entertainment in the six metros observed a growth of 0.6 per cent. Star World emerged as the chart topper with 44.7 per cent OTS.

    Meanwhile, witnessing a drop of 0.1 per cent, the Hindi GEC genre in HSM topped the loser category with DD National scoring 97.4 per cent OTS.

    On the other hand, with a drop of 0.1 per cent, the Hindi movies genre in an identical market was in the second spot with Max emerging as the most affectedC channel with 91.8 per cent OTS.

    MUMBAI: The English movies genre emerged as the top gainer in Chrome’s opportunity to see (OTS) analysis for six metros. The space marked an increase of 1.2 per cent. Movies Now emerged as the most benefited channel with 47.4 percent OTS in week 28.

    Next up, the English news genre which recorded an increase of 0.9 per cent in six metros with Lok Sabha TV leading the genre with 92.2 per cent OTS.

    On the other hand, Music in the Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) booked the third spot in the list of top gainers with a 0.7 per cent increase in OTS. 9XM led the tally with 90.6 per cent OTS.

    Last but not the least, English entertainment in the six metros observed a growth of 0.6 per cent. Star World emerged as the chart topper with 44.7 per cent OTS.

    Meanwhile, witnessing a drop of 0.1 per cent, the Hindi GEC genre in HSM topped the loser category with DD National scoring 97.4 per cent OTS.

    On the other hand, with a drop of 0.1 per cent, the Hindi movies genre in an identical market was in the second spot with Max emerging as the most affectedC channel with 91.8 per cent OTS.

    Times Now grabbed the top spot with 215 Impressions (000s) but saw a drop in rating, comparing to 346 Impressions (000s) of week 26. NDTV 24×7 improved by two ranks and secured second position with 97 Impressions (000s) in comparison to its fourth position last week. India Today Television dropped a position and ranked third spot with 94 Impressions (000s), also with a heavy drop in rating from 128 Impressions (000s) last week.

    CNN News18 with 63 Impressions (000s) held fourth spot, followed by News X on last rank with 54 Impressions (000s).

    CNBC TV 18 remained on its first spot with 74 Impressions (000s), followed by ET Now on second rank with 56 Impressions (000s).  NDTV Profit and NDTV Prime bagged third position with 22 Impressions (000s). Bloomberg TV with 3 Impressions (000s) held on fourth position.
