    BARC week 15: AXN continues climb to first position; Movies Now and Discovery continue to lead their genres

    MUMBAI: According to Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings across 6 Mega Cities: NCCS AB: 4+ individuals , AXN climbed up from second rank of week 14 to first position in week 15. Star World faced a major drop from last week, scored last position. While, Movies Now continued to top English movies. Discovery dominated infotainment space.

    English entertainment

    AXN hopped to first position with 248 Impressions  (000s), followed by Comedy Central with 180 Impressions (000s). Colors Infinity SD scored third position with 140 Impressions (000s). Zee Café with 101 Impressions  (000s) and star world with 77 Impressions  (000s) grabbed fourth and fifth position respectively.

    English movies

    Movies Now dominated with 2374 Impressions (000s). Star Movies held second position with 2374 Impressions  (000s). Sony Pix with 1930 Impressions  (000s) was third in the list. HBO with 1807 Impressions  (000s) grabbed fourth position, followed by Zee Studio at fifth with 1379 Impressions  (000s). 

    Infotainment

    The infotainment genre was once again topped by Discovery Channel with 4536 Impressions  (000s). History TV 18 maintained its second position from week 14, with 3804 Impressions (000s), followed by National Geographic with 3500 Impressions (000s). Animal Planet with 2840 Impressions (000s) and Nat Geo Wild with 1986 Impressions (000s) got fourth and fifth position respectively.

    MUMBAI: English Movies emerged as the most benefited genre with 4.9 percent growth. Movies Now was at the top of the chart with 54.5 per cent opportunity to see (OTS) in week 11 as reported by Chrome Data Analytics & Media.

    Next in the tally was Business News in the six metros which witnessed growth of 3.8 per cent with CNBC Awaaz as the most benefited channel in the genre with 82. 6 per cent OTS.

    The sports genre bagged the third spot in the chart which saw growth of 3.6 per cent with DD Sports leading the genre with 80.0 per cent OTS on an all India basis. Last but but not the least, English News in the six metros grabbed the fourth slot with LokSabha TV topping the chart with 92.4 per cent OTS.

    Among the losers this week, the religious section recorded a fall of 1.8 per cent with Aastha, which emerged as the most affected channel in the genre with 94. 0 per cent OTS.

    English Entertainment in eight metros recorded a decline of 1.1 per cent and Comedy Central led the genre with 48. 2 per cent.  Third in the list was Infotainment on an all India basis which witnessed downfall of 1.0 per cent with History TV 18 topping the chart with 82.2 percent OTS.

    Hindi News in the Hindi speaking market (HSM) declined by 0.7 per cent and ABP news with 92.1 per cent OTS led the genre.

    Chrome Week 52: English Movies & Business News only gainers

    MUMBAI: In week 52, English Movies emerged as the number one genre in six metros with a growth of 1.9 per cent Opportunity To See (OTS), according to Chrome Data Analytics. Movies Now led the section with 60.3 per cent OTS.

     

    Next on the list was the Business News genre with a growth of 0.1 per cent OTS. CNBC emerged as the channel, which benefited the most in the genre with 75.3 per cent OTS.

     

    Amongst the losers of week 52, the Sports channels genre led the section on an all India basis by witnessing a drop of 5.4 per cent OTS, while DD Sports led the chart with 74.9 per cent OTS.

     

    English Entertainment was next in line, which failed to generate positive ratings and dropped by 3.4 per cent OTS with Zee Café being the most affected channel at 49.9 per cent OTS.

     

    The Youth channels genre in Hindi Speaking Market (HSM) dropped by 1.8 per cent, wherein Channel V recorded 85.1 per cent OTS in week 52.

     

    On the other hand, the Religious channels genre dropped by 1.5 per cent in HSM with Aastha leading the tally with 60.3 per cent OTS.

    BARC week 44: Movies Now and Sony MAX continue to dominate English and Hindi genre respectively

    MUMBAI:  Music Now and Sony MAX continued to remain at the top position in their respective genres for consecutive weeks. Music Now obtained number one spot in English Movies genre in Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings with 2902 (000Sums). Sony PIX bagged second spot with 1723 (000Sums).

     

    Zee Studio was on third spot with 1664 (000Sums), followed by HBO and STAR Movies with 1569 (000Sums) and 1404 (000Sums) respectively. 

     

    Sony MAX continued to lead the Hindi Movies genre with 547127 (000Sums). Zee Cinema grabbed the second spot with 423616 (000Sums), followed by STAR Gold, which obtained third place with 354022 (000Sums). 

     

    Whereas, Music OK acquired fourth spot with 264657(000Sums) and &pictures fifth place with 175744 (000Sums) in week 44.

    Chrome Week 37: English Entertainment genre leads with 9.3% growth

    MUMBAI: English Entertainment genre led the pack in the six metros with growth of 9.3 per cent with Comedy Central at the top of the chart with 49.4 per cent opportunity to see (OTS) in week 37 of OTS data collated by Chrome Data, Analytics and Media.
     
    Second on the list is the English Movies genre in six metros, which witnessed three per cent growth. Movies Now bagged the pole position in the section with 60.3 per cent OTS.

     

    Infotainment genre secured third berth across India with 0.8 per cent OTS with History TV18 leading in the genre with 81.6 per cent OTS.

     

    In Hindi Speaking Market (HSM), Hindi Movies genre grabbed fourth position with 0.6 per cent, with Zee Cinema topping the list with 92.7 per cent OTS.

     
    Amongst the losers this week were Business news, sports and music channels.

     

    Business News section in six metros witnessed a drop by 0.4 per cent with CNBC Awaaz securing the first position with 79.5 per cent OTS.

     

    Sports genre across India dropped by 0.3 per cent and saw DD Sports securing the top slot with 74 per cent OTS.

     

    Music genre in HSM dropped by 0.2 per cent. 9XM with 88.1 per cent emerged as the most affected channel in the genre.

    MUMBAI: After seeing a peak in opportunity to see (OTS) of various genres collated by Chrome Data Analytics & Media, week 29 didn’t see much rise.

     

    Only two genres namely music and religious channels in the Hindi speaking markets (HSM) saw a jump of 0.4 per cent and 0.2 per cent, respectively.

     

    Sony Mix continued ruling the charts in the genre with 87.9 per cent OTS. Similarly, Aastha channel with 95.9 per cent OTS topped the genre.

     

    The week saw steep drops with English Entertainment channels in the eight metros with 4.3 per cent drop in the genre. AXN with 70.4 per cent OTS maintained its rein in the category.

     

    Business News in the eight metros followed with 3.5 per cent drop. However, Zee Business remained on top with 76.8 per cent OTS.

     

    English Movies with 2.6 per cent and English News with 2.3 per cent too saw a drop in the eight metros. Movies Now with 72.9 per cent OTS and Times Now with 85.2 per cent OTS topped their respective genres.
