    Mumbai: Set amidst the lush forests of Kerala and the concrete jungle of Delhi, the Amazon Original series, Poacher is an eye-opening eco-thriller currently streaming on Prime Video. Masterfully crafted by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta, the series is based on true events and unearths the investigation into India’s largest ivory-poaching syndicate in 2015, serving as a poignant reminder of the plight of our majestic elephants.

    Over the weekend, social media buzzed with concern over the sudden disappearance of elephants from the logos of noted brands like The Times of India and the Flying Elephant restaurant at the Park Hyatt, Chennai. What followed was over 30  brands chiming in and joining the conversation, urging consumers to speak up for elephants before they disappear.

    In a bold and unified effort to ignite conversation and raise awareness about poaching, several brands, including Asian Paints, Make My Trip, Dabur, The Bombay Store, Spice Jet, Shaadi.com, Rapido, BoAt and many others, joined forces with Prime Video. Together, they resoundingly amplified the urgent message of Poacher, presenting a united front against the critical threat to these majestic beings.

    While Make My Trip spoke about responsible travelling and how our jungles are sacred and incomplete without elephants, Asian Paints went one step further by sharing an ivory shade card, stating that inspiration can come home in ways other than poaching. Education brand, Unacademy chimed in, sharing that the world and childhood without ‘e for elephant’ are incomplete. Dental brand Toothsi joined the conversation by sharing that elephants’ smiles are worth protecting, just like ours! Dabur Hajmola added that poaching is something the brand could never digest. While Rapido also took a quirky route to condemn poaching, by adding a drop location where one could find Elephants. While BoAt reminded its followers that haathi is our saathi.

    Netflix dethrones HBO’s 17-year reign at Emmys with 112 nominations

    MUMBAI: HBO needs to guard its territory. The New York based network has been holding the position of the most nominated network for the last 17 years at the prestigious Emmy Award. Netflix, the new content king, has dethroned HBO this year with 112 nominations.

    The 70th annual Primetime Emmy awards is to be held on Monday, 17 September. Last time, the streaming giant scored 91 awards. High-profile projects including The Crown, Stranger Things, Godless and GLOW added big to the list each with ten or more than ten nominations.

    “We are particularly enthused to see the breadth of our programming celebrated with nominations spread across 40 new and returning titles which showcase our varied and expansive slate—comedies, dramas, movies, limited series, documentary, variety, animation, and reality,” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said.

    However, HBO is also not far behind Netflix with 108 nominations with Game of Thrones leading the way for the network. “HBO is very pleased with its 108 nominations, especially the wide range over so many categories,” the network also said in a statement. But it’s a real challenge for networks to keep pace with Netflix’s spending on content. The streaming giant has planned to spend $8 billion this year, focusing highly on originals.

    Other streaming platforms including Hulu, Amazon have also gathered a good number of nominations with 27 and 22 respectively. Critically acclaimed The Handmaid’s Tale has worked as the game changer for Hulu and Amazon is indebted to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

    “If you look at Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon and you add together their nominations at 161, and you add four platforms called networks together and you have 159, I think you see where things are headed. And Apple isn’t even in the game yet,” executive producer of The Handmaid’s Tale Warren Littlefield said.

    MUMBAI: Nexa P1 Powerboat, Indian Grand Prix of the Seas, will be telecast live globally and promises to deliver the most comprehensive coverage in the history of powerboating. Seeding a global sport from India, the Nexa P1 Powerboat, Indian Grand Prix of the Seas, will set a global benchmark for the telecast of the sport and the entertainment around it.

    Procam International is creating history of sorts by launching the global powerboat racing series in Mumbai from 3-5 March and Nexa is title sponsor for inaugural Grand Prix of the Seas series.

    Nexa P1 Powerboat, India Grand Prix of the Seas, is the first of the UIM recognized Grand Prix of the Seas. The 5-tier hierarchal structure will consist of a World Cup at the apex (to be held biennially starting in 2020) the Grand Prix of the Seas series, which will define a World Champion, inter-continental series, national series and regional series in orders of level of competition.

    The telecast repertoire includes nine hours of live programming on Sony ESPN and Sony Pix over the race weekend, content that will be produced by Initium Productions and Emmy Award recognized British director, Westbury Gillet. The production will also be the result of synergies between global, hi-tech crew and equipment flown in from 3 continents. Another global first for the sport is the introduction of the ‘second screen’, a gamified graphics interface to be followed live on an internet-connected device for real-time access to gamified positions, telemetric race data & analytics in addition to the television broadcast.

    The race weekend for the Indian Grand Prix of the Seas will have seven teams competing, with every team comprising of two P1 Panther powerboats, each manned by a pilot and navigator competing in identical boats along a 5.2 km defined race track, the first ever on water. The podium teams will be decided by the combined best times of both boats based on the skills of the team’s pilots and navigators post two races on March 4, Saturday, and one Grand Final on Sunday, March 5th. With the best pilots and navigators from the world participating in this event, the race weekend will also be witness to the first-ever sport in India that has male and female as equal participants, with skill and strategy deciding the winner.

    A 28-foot powerboat powered by a 250 HP engine, reaches a maximum speed of 120 km/hr on water, an equivalent of 240 km/hr on land. With a low centre of gravity providing greater stability and improved handling, the P1 Panther is also designed to race in just 6 feet of water resulting in a fan-friendly, close-to-shore racing experience.

    The P1 Panther has been specially designed to make this a truly green racing event. With low emissions, it is unbeatable on clean and quiet performance and has been given the Clean Air Excellence Award by the EPA. The boat has been certified under EU standards and has a 3-STAR CARB rating which means 65% fewer emissions than 1-STAR engines. It emits less noise and no smoke, uses less fuel and requires no oil changes thanks to the advanced fuel and oil injection system

WALT: The Man Behind The Myth is the official biography of Walt Disney, sanctioned by The Walt Disney Family Foundation.     Real-life crime is often more dramatic than fiction and GRB Entertainment owns many of the best series and docs in this genre.
