    Sterling wins Creative Media Award for #WhatIReallyReallyWant

    MUMBAI: Sterling Media, an international business and communications consultancy head-quartered in London, was presented the prestigious Creative Media Award at the Asian Media Awards 2016 for the #WhatIReallyReallyWant campaign, which they launched with partners Project Everyone. The award is the second consecutive accolade awarded to Sterling Media by Asian Media Awards. Sterling CEO & MD Natasha Mudhar was presented the Media Personality of the Year Award in 2015.

    Sterling Media orchestrated the entire global communications campaign for the short film #WhatIReallyReallyWant which received a staggering 150 million views and more than 1.6 million YouTube views in the first few days of launch. The film was also shared by global names including Victoria Beckham, Richard Branson and Emma Watson.

    On the 20th anniversary of the release of the Spice Girls’ Wannabe video, an updated version of “#WhatIReallyReallyWant” was launched in July 2016 marking 20 years of Girl Power. The film reflected the voices of girls and women all over the world telling world leaders what Goals they ‘really really want’ to be achieved to help improve their lives. The film was directed by MJ Delaney of Moxie Pictures and featured artists from around the world including Gigi Lamayne and Moneoa from South Africa, Seyi Shay from Nigeria, Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez from Sri Lanka, M.O from the UK, Taylor Hatala from Canada and Larsen Thompson from the USA.

    The viral video launched online and in cinemas all over the world with a call to action for people everywhere to share a picture of #WhatIReallyReallyWant for girls and women.

    Speaking about the award, Mudhar said,“On behalf of everyone at Sterling Media we are so thankful to the event organisers, and the esteemed judges for awarding us this wonderful accolade for the short film we launched with our partners Project Everyone – #WhatIReallyReally Want.

    Sterling has been engaged in a number of other high profile projects. These include the launch of a $9 trillion bauxite project in New Guinea; directing the global communication strategy for the US Government’s GODAN (Global Open Data on Agriculture & Nutrition) Summit 2016 –  the largest-ever event dedicated to open data in agriculture and nutrition to end hunger; the launch of the Worlds Largest Lesson India initiative which aims to teach every child in India a lesson about the Sustainable Development Goals; and managing the India and Africa strategies for the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation to tackle child malnutrition.

    Emma Watson pushes gender equality initiative in Davos

    MUMBAI: Emma Watson, the Harry Potter star and goodwill ambassador for UN women, spoke about her plan to fight against deficiencies in gender equality and women’s empowerment.

     

    Speaking about gender equality she said, “We need all-country leadership, as well as that of hundreds of universities and corporations, to follow HeForShe’s IMPACT 10X10X10X so as to bring an end to the persisting inequalities faced by women and girls globally.”

     

    Watson unveiled a new element of her “HeForShe” gender equality campaign before business leaders and international politicians at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland so that the issue gets global importance.

     

    UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who was a participant on the panel with Watson, then emphasized her appeal to encourage men to advocate alongside women for gender equality.

    2014 BAFTA: Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo among honourees

    MUMBAI: Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Emma Watson, Judi Dench and director Mike Leigh were announced as this year’s honourees for the BAFTA Los Angeles Jaguar Britannia Awards.

     

    Hosted by Rob Brydon, the award ceremony will take place on 30 October and air on BBC America on 2 November.

     

    The recipients are chosen by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles board of directors.

     

    The Iron Man star is this year’s recipient of the ‘Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film’. Prior winners include Warren Beatty and Tom Hanks. His latest movie The Judge with Robert Duvall is slated to release on 10 October.

     

    The Emmy Nominee Mark Ruffalo, is being honored with the ‘Britannia Humanitarian Award’ for his work with Water Defense. Ruffalo co-founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping waterways and drinking water sources free from contamination and will be seen in November in Foxcatche. Prior winners include Idris Elba and Don Cheadle.

     

    British director Mike Leigh, whose latest film Mr. Turner opens in December, will receive the ‘John Schlesinger Award for British Artist of the Year’. This honour pays tribute to a British artist “whose outstanding performances in a year have demonstrated the high quality of their craftsmanship. “

     

    While the Harry Potter star Emma Watson is the recipient of the ‘Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year’. Oscar-winning actress Judi Dench will be honoured with the ‘Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution.’

     

    The Britannia Awards are BAFTA Los Angeles’ highest accolade, a celebration of achievements honoring individuals and companies that have dedicated their careers to advancing the entertainment arts.

    The 26-year-old actor‘s girl-next-door charm has put her to the top of the list of actresses in contention to play Anastasia Steele, who is lured into an S and M lifestyle by older billionaire Christian Grey, it is understood.
    Emma Watson and Kristen Stewart are also being favoured to star in the big screen adaptation of the best-selling novel.
    Ryan Gosling and Ian Somerhalder are popular choices to play the mysterious businessman Christian Grey.

    Emma Watson to star in Your Voice in My Head

    MUMBAI: Harry Potter actress Emma Watson will possibly reunite with the film’s director David Yates in her next Your Voice in My Head, a film about a suicidal writer.

    Your Voice in My Head is based on a memoir by Emma Forrest who, incidentally, is also the film’s screenwriter. The film follows a self-destructive writer who struggles with her personal issues and embarks on the difficult road to recovery.

    Watson will play the female lead of a young woman who tries to commit suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who is dying of cancer. Warner is eyeing some high-profile names like Tom Hanks and George Clooney to play the male lead.

    Watson last played a supporting role in My Week with Marilyn that marked her first acting stint post Harry Potter.

    Next, she will be seen starring opposite Logan Lerman and Nina Dobrev in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

    Warner Bros campaigns for Deathly Hallows Part 2 at Academy

    MUMBAI: As part of the promotion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at the Oscars, Warner Bros has launched a campaign to have the film recognized at the Academy Awards.

    In the decade since their inception, Harry Potter movies have made around 5 billion pounds and won critical acclaim but an Oscar has always eluded them.

    Warner Bros is now making one last push to break the spell by lobbying Academy voters to nominate Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in a dozen categories including best picture and best director.

    It is also trying to get Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson nominated in the best actor and actress categories respectively.

    The most likely chance of success comes in the best supporting actor category with Alan Rickman‘s performance as Professor Severus Snape

    Till date, Harry Potter films have been nominated for nine Oscars but have failed to win any. The categories for which the films have been nominated include best art direction, best score and best cinematography. The studio is running special trailers and advertising campaigns in the film‘s honour.

    The ballot closes on January 13 and the nominations will be announced on January 24.

    Radcliffe tops list of rich under 30 celebrities

    MUMBAI: The Heat Magazine recently declared its list of the top five richest, young Britishers under 30-years-old entertainers.

    Topping the chart is Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe who has retained his No. 1 position. Radcliffe, 22, who played the boy wizard in the movie adaptations of J.K. Rowling‘s bestselling novels, earned 51.8 million pounds ($80 million) over his career, according to Heat estimates. The actor‘s earnings for 2011 were 6.1 million pounds higher than in 2010.

    Actress Keira Knightley, who starred in several of the Pirates of the Caribbean films remained second on the chart, while singer Adele was the highest new entry at 16. Knightley‘s earnings totaled 30.9 million pounds while Adele, whose second album ‘21‘ is set to be the biggest selling album in the world this year, entered the list at No. 16 with a fortune of 7.7 million pounds.

    Robert Pattinson, lead actor of the Twilight franchise moved up to third from fifth position left behind two of Potter stars, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, according to the celebrity magazine.

    Three stars dropped out of this year‘s list – opera star Katherine Jenkins and model Kelly Brook both exceeded the 30-year-old limit while singer Amy Winehouse, ranked 15th last year, expired in July last.
