    Turner India ups Rohit Khetarpal as director, network & content distribution

    MUMBAI: Turner International India has elevated Rohit Khetarpal as director of network and content distribution for South Asia.

     

    In his new role, Khetarpal will be responsible for content syndication and driving mobile and interactive platforms including mobile, broadband, DTH, IPTV, gaming services for Turner’s portfolio of industry-leading news and kids entertainment brands including CNN International, Cartoon Network, and POGO.

     

    In addition, he will lead CNN International’s hotel partnership programme and broadcast partnerships in South Asia. He will also manage the distribution of all Turner channels in South Asian markets outside of India.

     

    Based in Delhi, Khetarpal will report into Turner senior vice president and managing director for South Asia Siddharth Jain.

     

    Jain said, “With his proven track record in growing our linear distribution vertical in India, I am confident that Rohit will take this varied and business-critical portfolio to its next level of success in the South Asia region.”

     

    Khetarpal joined Turner’s network and content distribution team in 2008 and has been managing the distribution of Turner’s portfolio of channels in India: Cartoon Network, POGO, Toonami, HBO and WB. He has over 15 years of experience in the television distribution business and has previously worked with Viacom 18, Zee Turner and ESPN Software in India.

    MEASAT elevates Alex Tan as senior sales director – broadcast sales

    MUMBAI: MEASAT Satellite Systems has roped in Alex Tan as its senior sales director – broadcast sales. Tan is moving from his previous role as senior sales director, Telecoms & VAS – Asia Pacific.

     

    In his new role in broadcast sales, Tan will be working with MEASAT’s vice president of broadcast sales to develop and drive sales strategies and programmes in the broadcast segment.

     

    Tan has 18 years of experience in the satellite and telecommunications industry and has been with MEASAT since 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering (Hons), majoring in telecommunications, from the University of South Australia, Australia.

    MUMBAI: 92.7 Big FM has announced the elevation of Jay Mehta as station head, Mumbai. Mehta joined 92.7 Big FM in August 2014 in the position of sales head – Mumbai and has been an ace performer, steadily growing revenues for the station. In his role as station head, Mehta’s primary responsibility will be to manage the P&L of the station, ensuring profitability as the station continues to deliver excellent value to listeners and advertisers alike.

     

    Mehta will report to 92.7 Big FM business head Ashwin Padmanabhan.

     

    Mehta carries with him over a decade’s work experience, with companies like Uninor, Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications. His key strengths include innovations, strategy formulation and execution, brand launches, brand associations, and sales and distribution. He has to his credit, been a key part of the launch team of two telecom giants in India – Uninor and Idea Cellular and has been instrumental in seeding the brands during its initial periods.

     

    Padmanabhan said, “It is an absolute delight to meet and work with committed employees like Jay.     NEW DELHI: Weber Shandwick, the public relation firm today elevated Mabel Phoon to the position of executive vice president, international client services, Asia.

    As part of her new role, Phoon will relocate to India with immediate effect and also becomes a part of the Indian leadership team. She will report jointly to vice chairman Asia Pacific Baxter Jolly and Weber Shandwick India managing director Atul Ahluwalia.

    In India, she will divide her time between New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru offices focusing on supporting key client programmes. She will also take a lead role in managing relationships within the global Weber Shandwick network and also join Weber Shandwick’s newly formed India management board.

    Phoon joined the agency in Singapore in 1997. There she rose to lead the local technology practice before being appointed regional practice head, advancing to executive vice president in 2008.She then moved to New York in 2010 as a client leader for one of the firm’s top global clients.
