  • Shemaroo releases ‘Bullet’, ‘Elaan’ on DVD

    MUMBAI: Shemaroo has announced the release of Bullet and Elaan on home video and DVD. While Elaan has been released six weeks after theatrical release, Bullet-Ek Dhamaka has been released in just three weeks.
     
     
    Both movies essay the technological advances in Hindi cinema. For Elaan, a new editing style called the ‘Time line shift’ was used for the first time. Bullet has an action coordinating crew that has worked with Hollywood biggies like John Claude Vann Damm and Stevan Segal.
     
     
    As a bonus feature in the Bullet DVD, audiences can now watch the execution of the stunts and other behind the scenes action in the Making of the Film featurette. Bullet is also said to be the first film, which premiered in Afghanistan along with its worldwide premiere. Bullet also features Miss Bulgaria Natalie Gurkova.

    Elaan stars John Abraham, Lara Dutta, Amisha Patel, Arjun Rampal and Rahul Khanna – five unlikely heroes who take on an international terrorist Baba Sikandar (Mithun Chakraborty in his comeback role) to end his reign of terror.

     
     
    Bullet-Ek Dhamaka tells the story of an intelligence officer Arjun (Iqbal Khan) whose sets on a mission to bring back Don Raja (Aseem Merchant) from Bulgaria to India.

    Shemaroo seizes over 700 pirated DVDs in raid

    MUMBAI: This is a good news for video companies concerned about the menace of increasing piracy. In a raid carried out at Eros CD Center – an outlet at Veer Nariman Road in downtown Mumbai yesterday 24 February the anti-piracy team of Shemaroo Video seized over 700 pirated DVDs.

    An FIR has been filed against the owner of the shop. The raid happened after initial surveys and warnings, which the owners ceased to heed. With the help from Senior Inspector Sadashiv Patil who assigned PSI Karpe and two constables to conduct the raid, pirated DVDs of recent releases like Hulchul, Aitraaz, Dil Maange More, Elaan were caught in the raid.

    Incidentally, Shemaroo is releasing the original DVD of Elaan today. Other pirated copies of English films like Alexander, Ray, Oceans Twelve etc. were also seized in this raid.

    The Shemaroo anti-piracy team carries out various vigilance activities gathering information, surveillance and warning the pirates. The team also gives information about dealing in legitimate products and educates on the consequences of dealing in pirated video products. Only when they cease to heed to all the warnings that Shemaroo raids the outlet and takes action against the pirates.

    Having an end-to-end objective in mind, Shemaroo has stated that it believes that fighting anti-piracy will gradually increase the legitimate home video market. Increased revenues can be shared with other people involved in the entertainment industry, which will also help the government get more taxes bringing a decrease in the black economy.
