MUMBAI: Leaving no stone unturned, Viacom 18’s Hindi general entertainment channel, Colors is all prepped up for Balaji Telefilms’ new show Kasam…Tere Pyaar Ki. Starting from 7 March, the show will be aired at 10pm from Monday to Friday. The channel has roped in Indiagate Basmati Rice as the powered by sponsors for the soap

Kasam…Tere Pyaar Ki, a tale of star-crossed lovers Rishi played by Ssharad Malhotra and Tanushree played by Kratika Sengar, highlights the connection between their souls since childhood, but the vagaries of destiny pulls them apart.

Talking with Indiantelevision.com, Colors programming head Manisha Sharma said, “This is an older man and younger girl reincarnation love story. I am hoping it will be as romantic as Ekta’s other shows. I am sure the new offering from Balaji will have all the flavours. The show further marks the strengthening of our relationship with Balaji Telefilms, with which we have delivered path-breaking content time and again. Balaji’s Telefilms proficiency at depicting the various shades of love has made it a master storyteller with a strong hold on the pulse of the audience’s hearts”.

As reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com, the new show Kasam will replace one of the most popular show on Colors,  Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi  which is yet another Balaji production. Talking about the same, Sharma added, “Its time to bid goodbye to Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi because it has lived its life. It used to do well for us and was loved by our audience but it has to end, because you can’t keep stretching love stories for long.“

Speaking about the show, Balaji Telefilms producer Ekta Kapoor said, “Kasam…Tere Pyaar Ki redefines every known shade of love. It explores a deep-rooted connection between souls, binding Rishi and Tanushree’s hearts from childhood and continuing, across lifetimes, long after destiny separates them. The show instils freshness through its intensity of emotions, which combined with a distinctive backdrop, will find appeal amongst romantics and convert non-believers. The show’s scale and production quality further adds to the authenticity of the concept thereby creating a belief system around the perpetuity of love”.

Colors has devised a 360-degree integrated marketing campaign for the show that includes print, broadcast, OOH, and radio among others. Kasam…Tere Pyaar Ki will also be promoted via a robust digital strategy engaging viewers across social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  • Delhi HC restrains 200+ websites from illegally showing Balaji’s ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3’

Delhi HC restrains 200+ websites from illegally showing Balaji’s ‘Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3’

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has restrained around 203 websites from streaming, broadcasting or providing online access to Balaji Motion Pictures’ recently released film Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3.

Passing the restraint order, the court said the production company Balaji Motion Pictures is “entitled to get protection under the Copyright Act.”

Balaji Motion Pictures had approached the High Court contending that 203 websites, local cable operators and others should be restrained from making available or showing, uploading, downloading or exhibiting the movie in any manner without proper licence from the producers.

Accepting the plea, Justice Vipin Sanghi issued notice to 300 defendants including websites and local cable operators and directed them to comply with the order restraining all of them from providing “online access in any manner.” The matter has been listed for 5 May.

Besides restraining the websites from providing access to the film, the court also directed various Internet Service Providers (ISP), Department of Telecommunications and Department of Information Technology to ensure compliance by blocking access to all the 203 websites identified by the producers.

In the Delhi High Court, Balaji counsel Abhishek Malhotra said the film cannot be viewed on any device or broadcast on any platform through Internet without their permission.

He said the cause of action arose after he received information that the defendants and unknown persons were engaged in rampant piracy and abuse of copyright in respect of various other works including the film.

“They are likely to indulge in unlicensed and unauthorised exploitation of the film merely a week ahead,” the counsel contended.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court has issued notices to the producers, director and writers of the film and sought a response to a public interest litigation seeking a ban on it for allegedly vulgar content.

The division bench of Justices N H Patil and G S Kulkarni said they will hear the petition next week but reprimanded the petitioner Zuber Khan for moving the court late as the film had already been released. The petition claimed the film is vulgar and against the culture and ethos of the country. “In the trailer, the film is said to be India’s first Porn comedy. The posters are vulgar with semi-nude photos,” it says. The court issued notices to the producers Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, director Umesh Ghadge and writers Milap Zaveri and Mustaq Shaikh apart from the Censor Board and the Maharashtra government.

Khan said he would amend the petition and also seek a ban on another such film, Mastizaadefeaturing Sunny Leone amongst others, which is scheduled to release next week.

Released on 22 January, the film stars Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab Shivdasani in the lead along with Mandana Karimi, Gizele Thakral, Claudia Ciesla, Krishna Abhishek, Shakti Kapoor and Darshan Jariwala.

  • Colors snaps ‘Box Cricket League’ rights; slots it on Sundays at 4.30 pm

Colors snaps ‘Box Cricket League’ rights; slots it on Sundays at 4.30 pm

MUMBAI: Colors has joined hands with Balaji Telefilms and Marinating Films to bring together television and cricket in a power packed season 2 of Box Cricket League (BCL). The first season of the property was aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Season 2 of Box Cricket league will be a long six month reality show, which will be aired every Sunday. The channel will start shooting for the show in the second week of February.

With a stellar line up of 200 celebrities in 10 teams, the one and a half hour show BCL will be aired on Colors and Colors HD from 28 February, 2016 every Sunday at 4.30 pm with a repeat telecast on Rishtey.

It may be recalled that on Sony, BCL season 1 had 150 celebrities and eight teams. The weekly show was aired at 7:30 pm.

Speaking to Indiantelevision.com, Colors CEO Raj Nayak said, “We had a talk with Ekta (Ekta Kapoor) one day and we were discussing on how we can do better with BCL and she felt that the show can be better on Colors. We genuinely believe in the format and felt that if it’s strategically positioned well, packaged and marketed with a creative tweak to the format, then it has the potential to make it big this time.”

Talking about the late afternoon time slot for the show, he says, “About 99 per cent of people are at home from 4:30 – 6 pm on a Sunday. This is also the time when women who watch different shows on television want to see a different side to their celebs. Cricket is just a backdrop, it has drama, emotions and passion. BCL can be a great reality show. We air movies in the 4:30 evening slot and we garnered the maximum ratings. I think if the content is good then people will follow it.”

This star-studded cricket league will have 10 teams named after 10 cities namely Ahmedabad Express, Kolkata Babu Moshayes, Chandigarh Cubs, Delhi Dragons, Jaipur Raj Joshiley, Chennai Swaggers, Mumbai Tigers, Pune Anmol Ratan, Rowdy Bangalore and Lucknow Nawabs led by celebrities like Sunny Leone, Nandish Sandhu, Ajay Chaudhry, Mrunal Jain, Anita Hassandani, Kamya Punjabi and others.

The high point of the game is the mix of men and women in every team. The inclusion of males and females across all teams, makes it a battle of equals where the celebrities will be fully charged to kick the dust up.

Commenting on the time slot, Balaji Telefilms joint managing director Ekta Kapoor said, “The slot has seen ratings earlier. It’s a movie slot and also and Sunday evening is family time when the entire family can watch cricket together specially the ladies of the house. Therefore we think it’s the perfect time band for BCL.”

With a huge number of television stars vying to play this season of BCL, the league owners have had to set new guidelines for player qualifications.

The strict diktat ensures only top lead actors (who’ve starred as main leads for a minimum of 250 episodes) and second lead actors (who’ve had at least 500 episodes to their credit) can partake in this season. Besides popular fiction faces, GEC reality show winners and top contestants are also qualified to play.

Marinating Films managing director Sunny Arora asserted, “I used to organise cricket tournaments since my childhood. So one night this idea crossed my mind to have a cricket league and I discussed it with my partner Anand that we should have men and women playing together. We announced on Whatsapp that we were coming up with this league and since sending that message, the next three days were the most busiest days of my life. So that’s how the idea came about.”

Arora also added, “Colors is one of the leading channel in India and no one can compete with them when it comes to non-fiction series. Also Colors has a very strong team including Raj Nayak, Manisha and Sheetal, they are so clear in their thought and every show on Colors works and we believe that BCL will also work.”

With 200 celebrities in one show, BCL is no doubt an expensive proposition. Talking about the same, Arora informed, “This year the production cost of BCL has increased three times compared to last year. This time we are using a bigger venue, larger crew and more technicians. We have also incorporated more software to make the show as good as international matches. So yes, it’s an expensive show and we have invested much more than last year. And we are confident that the cost will be recovered because we are on Colors.”

The increase in the number of devices capable of supporting digital media along with increasing Internet access speed has provided consumers with an option to access the media content of choice – be it information, entertainment or social activity anytime, and anywhere. Against this backdrop, the opportunity to leverage Balaji Telefilms’ creative sensibilities as India’s leading production studio, to a new digital arena is most exciting. We will move from a conventional “one size fits all” approach to a more evolved and targeted approach to marketing and creating unique and differentiated content.”

Balaji Telefilms amps up production value with ‘Naagin’ on Colors

MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms has readied a visual treat for viewers with its new show – Naagin, which is slated to go on air on Colors from 1 November.

The soap factory has upped its production value for this show with focus on elements like characterisation, scripting and visual appeal. The new mystical thriller is a dramatically obsessive love story of reincarnation. Naagin will be a finite weekend fiction series, which will be telecast every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm.

Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan, Naagin is loaded with outstanding VFX effects offering an authentic film-like experience. The musical score of the show will add to the viewing experience as Colors recreates the timeless magic of the song Tere Sang Pyaar Main Nahi Todna through a new-age adaptation.

Commenting on the show’s format, Balaji Telefilms joint managing director and creative director Ekta Kapoor said, “At Balaji, we have always believed in experimenting with different concepts while bringing in some variety for our viewers. The concept of Naagin is something that we, at Balaji, have never explored in the past; it is a completely new facet of love stories that transcends into the mystique of the unknown. With intense focus on different elements like characterization, scripting, visual appeal, etc, we have amped up the production value to make it a winning proposition on the small screen. Putting together an hour-long proposition requires additional investment in terms of story development and high-end technology, and we are looking forward to presenting an all-round offering to Colors’ viewers.”

Speaking about the show, Colors programming head Manisha Sharma added, “After the success of 24 Season 1, Naagin is our second offering within the fiction finite series space airing on weekends. Naagin is a mystical thriller incorporating a dramatic twist at every corner to add an element of thrill and excitement, which will keep viewers engaged. The show is a testimony of Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms’ conviction towards providing quality entertainment avenues for viewers through new and innovative concepts that appeal to viewers visually and in terms of its narrative.”

The aesthetically narrated saga, Naagin delves into the life of a suave and ambitious business tycoon, Ritik Raheja (Arjun Bijlani) who believed that love and religion are distractions as they make you weak. But his beliefs are challenged when he comes face-to-face with Shivanya (Mouni Roy). While Ritik is enamoured by her simplicity, Shivanya is stuck between two extreme emotions – love and vengeance. Shivanya’s friend, Sesa (Adaa Khan) is her support system, but she has an ulterior motive that no one knows about. The constant conflict between love and revenge drive these protagonists together as their lives clash in a coming together of their past histories.
