The Salman Khan has gone on to set new records which don‘t look easy to better in the near future.

The film was well awaited by the exhibitors and brought them relief after a run of mediocre grossers. With bumper opening day collections of Rs 329.2 million on 15 August, the film ended its five-day weekend with Rs 1 billion. It even bettered the earlier high by Salman‘s own Bodyguard, which had collected Rs 889.5 million, by over Rs 100 million.

With Eid and Basi Eid collections yet to be added, the nine-day week of the film will record unprecedented figures.

Bol Bachchan collected approximately Rs 7.5 million in its sixth week, taking its total to Rs 1 billion.

Jism2 did reasonably well in its second week with figures of Rs 49 million, taking its total collection to Rs 350.5 million.

MUMBAI: Going by the ending of the Salman Khan hit Ek Tha Tiger, where Salman and Katrina are on the run going from country-to-country, it was foreseen that the makers have kept room for the film‘s sequel.

Now, turning assumptions into reality, it is being said that YRF has registered two titles Ek Hai Tiger and Ek Rahega Tiger for the sequel. If all goes well, the tiger saga will continue and so would its successful run at the box office.

Besides Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif‘s good performance, the film is being appreciated for its technical values, DoP Aseem Mishra‘s artistic work, the production designers from multiple countries, the sound design and sync sound and last but not the least the background score by Julius Packham.

Meanwhile, the film has been doing fantastic business and has reportedly garnered Rs 48.92 crore on its second day.

MUMBAI: India-made spy films are always banned by Pakistan.

Going by the banning of Saif Ali Khan‘s spy thriller Agent Vinod some months ago, Pakistan has reportedly prohibited Ek Tha Tiger from exhibition in the country.

To cash in on the Eid weekend, Ek Tha Tiger was slated to release in Pakistan this week and was expected to fetch good income. A Pakistani distributor has gone on record to confirm that the film won‘t release there because it hasn‘t been granted clearance by the Pakistani Censor Board.

Though there has been no official word from the Pakistani Censor Board, but going by the brief given by the Pak electronic media watchdog to ban the trailer of the film, the authorities in the country are wary of their powerful spy agency ISI being shown in bad light in the Salman Khan film.

Airing his views, director Kabir Khan is quoted to have said, “It is sad that a film promoting peace and friendship has fallen victim to politics.”

Ek Tha Tiger was supposed to release with 35 prints in Pakistan.

Ek Tha Tiger ticket rates to cost 12 to 16 per cent more

MUMBAI: Salman Khan films are selling like hot cakes. Multiplexes have, therefore, decided to take advantage of Salman‘s popularity and hike the ticket prices of the star‘s upcoming film Ek Tha Tiger by as much as 12-16 per cent.

Said Cinemax DGM, Girish Wankhede, “The price of Ek Tha Tiger will cost more by about Rs 20 per ticket. After all it (the film) is a premium product. This kind of thing is done during festive seasons. And as of now, a Salman Khan film commands higher premium than before.”

But the same will not be the case in case of single-screens. Says Premiere Theatre manager Kamat, “No, we aren‘t going to raise our ticket rates. We are yet to decide whether we would have an extra show at 9 in the morning. We shall decide once we come to know about the demand for the film once the advance booking starts.”

Earlier, tickets of Salman Khan releases like Ready and Bodyguard had been priced higher than regular rates.

Ek Tha Tiger to open on 15 August

MUMBAI: After the makers of the 3D format of Sholay backed out of the release of the film on 15 August, the place has been promptly taken by YRF‘s Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif-starrer Ek Tha Tiger .

Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on 13 August and have a long weekend along with Sholay 3D as its only competitor in the week. But, among a buzz that the makers of the 3D formatted Sholay postponed the release of the film getting scared of Tiger, Jayantilal Gala interrupted to say that the sound part of the film was taking time. Hence, the delay.

A romantic thriller, Ek Tha Tiger is produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Kabir Khan.

Salman-Katrina will be seen together on the screen after four years.Their last film together was the 2008 release, Yuvvraaj.

Ek Tha Tiger will release on Wednesday. Incidentally, Salman Khan‘s starrer Bodyguard also released on Wednesday (31 August) last year.

  • Dabaang 2 not to have Eid release

Dabaang 2 not to have Eid release

MUMBAI: YRF‘s Salman khan-starrer Ek Tha Tiger has been tipped for an Eid release. Going by the penchant of Khan to release his films on the occasion of Eid, it was being rumoured that his other starrer Dabaang 2 would also release on Eid.

But the rumours have been put to rest by the makers of Dabaang 2. The film will now release during Christmas. The reason: Ek Tha Tiger and Dabangg 2 are completely different films but releasing two films of Khan on the same day wouldn’t be advisable.

Producer-director Arbaaz Khan feels that crowding the Eid weekend with two Salman releases wouldn‘t be good.

Meanwhile YRF‘s other release Ishaqzaade will now release on 11th instead of 18 May. The pre-poning of the release is due to the postponing of Vidhu Vinod Chopra‘s Ferrari ki Sawaari that was to release on 11 May but was later postponed.

YRF confirmed, “With Ferrari ki Sawaari moving to a later date and the IPL crunch matches kicking in from 18 May, this shift will give Ishaqzaade a better window for release.”

This means that Ishaqzaade will clash with the Kareena Kapoor-starrer Dangerous Ishq that also releases on 11 May.

MUMBAI: After rounds of talks with the makers of the Tamil-Telugu film Kanchana, Salman Khan has decided to remake the film in Hindi. The actor has given his nod to act in the proposed project to be made in 3D.
