    The Advertising Club restructures membership fees

    MUMBAI: The Advertising Club will be restructuring its fee structure with effect from 1 January, 2016.

    As per the new structure, for an individual, a lifetime membership with the club will now cost Rs 7500.

    On the other hand, corporate memberships rates come with a customised format. A corporation can get a 15 year membership for 10 of its employees for Rs 1 lakh, which goes up to Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh for 25 and 50 members respectively.

    An annual three-year membership will be chargeable at Rs 2500, with renewal fees of Rs 500 per year.

    One can also opt for a student membership worth Rs 1000, which is valid for 12 months.

    Keeping in mind the holiday season, the club has extended the last date for enrolments and payments under the existing structure till 7 January, 2016, and individual life membership to the club stands valid at Rs 5,000 up to 31 December, 2015.

    Going forward, the Advertising Club also intends to make membership mandatory for industry professionals participating in Ad Club events such as Effies, Emvies etc. and two guests per member will be entertained for each of such events.

    MUMBAI: The stage was set as the who’s who of the advertising world ascended to celebrate the best work of the year gone by at the Effies 2014.

     

    “The Gold standards we are have set will secure that these awards are the most coveted and the most admired in our communication business,” said the Ad Club president Pratap Bose in his opening speech, while emphasising that the results will have the direct implications on 2015 Global Effie rankings at the individual office level. “And I must share that two out of three in 2014 global ranking are from India,” he added.

     

    Amidst loud cheering, Ogilvy & Mather, which was superseded by Lowe Lintas + Partners in the race last year, was back with a bang to be the Agency of the Year at the Effie 2014 awards.

    The men and women in black earned a total of 173 points and bagged two Gold, eight Silver, and 16 Bronze Effies. Bournvita (Best on-going campaign category) and Google (Digital: Online/Mobile Communication category) took home the two Golds.

    Last year’s winner Lowe Lintas + Partners came in second with 142 points. The agency won the maximum number of Gold medals i.e. seven along with six Silver and eight Bronze Effies.The Gold wins for the agency came for Idea and Tata Tea (Best on-going campaign category). The work for Idea also won a Gold in the Services category.

    McCann Worldgroup India came in third with 90 points earned from two Gold, five Silver and eight Bronze. There was a tie between JWT and Soho Square with 34 points. The agency bagged Gold for Havells’ #RespectWomen entry (Consumer Durables category).

    Hindustan Unilever with a total of 64 points including two Gold, four Silver and four bronze Effies became the Effie Client of the Year.

     

    The Grand Effie went to Soho Square for its campaign ‘The Political campaign that Created History’ for Bharatiya Janata Party.

    Effies shortlists 243 case studies

    MUMBAI: The shortlist of Effies 2013 is out. The total number of shortlists this year is 243 with Ogilvy & Mather topping the list with 43 entries for 24 categories.Next to it is Lowe Lintas with 31 shortlisted case studies.

     

    It is interesting to note that in the 13 years of its existence, Effies has received the highest ever entries this year with the tally reaching 419.

     

    The award function will be held on 15 January in Mumbai.

    EFFIES 2013 achieves an all time high, with 419 entries

    MUMBAI: The EFFIE 2013 awards in its 13 year history, has received the highest number of entries ever this year.

    Last year the Ad Club received 357 entries – the highest then. This year it has surpassed the tally with an impressive figure of 419.

    On the escalation, EFFIE 2013 committee chairman Ajay Kakar said: “A growth of about 20 per cent in the number of entries and participation of over 50 agencies shows the growing importance of ‘effectiveness’ of a marketing campaign and its direct impact on a business. In recent years, this has also been one of the key requirements of businesses from marketers and agencies. I am sure that this year we will witness a wide range of ideas that has created a lasting impact on brands across diverse categories.”

    The award showcases the most effective in marketing and advertising and it’s the only award which celebrates the success of not only the agencies but also the clients.

    From 2011, the Ad Club has conducted the judging of EFFIEs and EMVIEs in Delhi, in addition to Mumbai. This has helped the Ad Club to engage with a large marketing fraternity from Delhi also.

    This year Colors is the presenting sponsor and Zee Media Corporation Limited is the associate sponsor. Lenovo has also come on board as the technology sponsor.
    The ceremony is scheduled for 15 January 2014 at the Royal Western India Turf Club, Enclosure II, Mahalaxmi in Mumbai at 6:30 pm.

    Entry deadline for Effies extended

    MUMBAI: The Ad Club that is known for honouring the best in the advertising and allied industries with awards like the Emvies; the Abby Awards and the Effies, announced today that the deadline of case submission for Effies, to be held on 15 January, 2014 at Royal Western Turf Club, Mumbai has been extended to Monday, 2 December.

     

    A letter sent out by the Effie 2013 committee chairperson Ajay Kakar, mentioned that the decision has been taken because of numerous requests towards the end of last week to extend the Effie 2013 case submission deadline.

     

    The case studies are to be submitted at the Adclub Secretariat before 5:30 pm.

     

    Effies are the global benchmark in measuring and recognising marketing communications work. As per cent of the jury in India comprises of well known and senior marketing professionals, and the rest coming from leading communications agencies, work that wins at the Effies also becomes a benchmark in their minds. It stands a good chance to become a part of marketing and conversations all over India, and increasingly outside too.

    Adclub shortlists 81 entries for Effies 2010

    MUMBAI: Advertising Club of Bombay has shortlisted 81 entries for Effies 2010, out of the 276 entries it had received.

    The awards will be held in Mumbai on 7 November. This year Effie has introduced three new categories and various sub-categories for three of the existing ones. There were nine categories for which the entries were shortlisted. No nominations were shortlisted for the Mobile Advertising category. 

    Ogilvy & Mather, the winner of last year’s Agency of the Year award, leads the pack of shortlisted entries with 17 nominations followed by Lowe Lintas with 16 and Mudra Group with 14 entries. Last year’s runner-up agency JWT has got 10 of its entries shortlisted.

    “I am happy that Ogilvy has been nominated across categories and for various clients. It shows that Ogilvy is doing a creative work”, Ogilvy & Mather executive chairman and creative director South India Piyush Pandey told Indiantelevision.

    Some of the Ogilvy’s shortlisted entries are for Dove, Center fresh, Adidas, Cadbury, Fevicol, Pulsar, Tata Sky, Vodafone and Star Plus

    Lowe Lintas entries are for Clinic Plus, Fair and Lovely, Tata Tea, BAJAJ DISCOVER DTS-Si, Idea Cellular, ET NOW and Hindustan Times.

    The entries shortlisted for Mudra include Volkswagen, 3 Idiots and The Economic Times.

    Apart from these, the other agencies that have been shortlisted are BBDO India with six entries, DRAFTFCB Ulka Advertising with five, Bates 141 with four, Contract Advertising India and CreativelandAsia with 2 nominations each.

    McCann Erickson India, Rediffusion Y&R, Dentsu Communications, Publicis Ambience and Grey Worldwide (India) have got one shortlisted entry each.

    Effies adds 3 categories to roster

    MUMBAI: The Ad Club Bombay has received 276 entries for the marketing and communication awards – Effie Awards 2010. Ad Club claims that this is the highest ever since Effie became part of the India Advertising Festival.

    Last year 148 advertising agencies had sent their entries for the awards.

    One of the main reasons behind the surge in entries might be the fact that for the 2010 edition, Effie has introduced three new categories and various sub-categories for three of the existing ones.

    “These changes enlarged the scope for the players, which might have led to the rise in the number of entries,” says Lodester Universal CEO Shashi Sinha.

    Retail, Healthcare and David v/s Goliath are the new categories added to the Effie 2010 roster.

    David v/s Goliath has been introduced to recognise new or emerging brands and companies who moved into a new product and service field with large, well-established competitors.

    For consumer products the sub-categories are Cosmetics and toiletries, Beverages / drink, confectionary and food and Others, which include apparel / textiles, personal gift items, tobacco, personal hygiene, footwear books and periodicals, stationery and accessories.

    Similarly, for Consumer Durables the sub-categories are automobiles and auto parts, two wheelers and auto related and Others, which include television, stereo and other musical equipment, audiovisual equipment, calculators and computers.

    The new sub-categories for Services are telecom and related products, Financial services, including banking and insurance etc., and Others including public utilities, marketing communications, services, media, entertainment and customised software.

    The Ad Club Bombay will organise the Effie Awards on 7 December in Mumbai.
