    NDTV Good Times brings Yogasutra DVDs in collaboration with Saregama

    MUMBAI: Did you know that any movement, even blinking your eyes, requires the coordinated activity of several different muscles? NDTV Good Times’ first health and fitness show – Yogasutra is now available in a DVD format, to reveal many more secrets of the ancient discipline of yoga. Launched in collaboration with Saregama, one of the biggest Indian music companies in the country, the DVD is designed as a visual treat so that the discipline sits easy on the eyes and works as the perfect inspiration to better health.

    Yogasutra showcases the art and science of yoga in all its beauty and strength and introduces its nuances, up close and personal.     NEW DELHI: The YoungCuts Film Festival for short films by filmmakers who are 25 or younger has called for entries from all over the world for its next edition on 28 and 29 September in Montreal.

    Apart from a jury, the festival this year is introducing People’s Choice Awards.

    Filmmakers who submit a film and pay the submission fee will have access to watch films from past festivals, as well as submissions for this year’s festival. For this year’s submissions, they will have the opportunity to vote for their favourites. Each month, at least one film will be selected based on public voting.

    The Festival accepts films online and wants entries uploaded to a video-sharing web-site like vimeo.com which supplies a password. Films can also be sent through a link from a free service like Yousendit or Dropbox or uploaded directly.

    File size should be no greater than 40MB per minute of the film up to a maximum of 750 MB.

    Physical copies can also be sent in DVD format. Each film has to be accompanied by a submission fee of $60.

    Raja Harishchandra now available on DVD

    MUMBAI: Film buffs fond of old classics can now watch the country‘s first silent film Raja Harishchandra on DVD.

    Produced by Dadasaheb Phalke, the film was first exhibited on 3 May 1913, is now being distributed in the DVD format by the city-based National Film Archives of India (NFAI), according to its director Prashant Pathrabe.

    “The decision to make DVDs of the silent movies was taken in view of a long felt need to reach the general masses, who are interested in having an access to the historically significant work of pioneers of Indian cinema,” Pathrabe said in a statement.

    Along with the Phalke film, five other silent films, that marked the beginning of the Indian film industry, would also be now available in DVD format.

    Elaborating on the significance of the first film, produced by the father of Indian cinema, Pathrabe said, “Raja Harishchandra was made by Phalke overcoming all odds and financial difficulties and also social stigma attached to films a century ago. He was almost ex-communicated (in Maharashtra). He was unable to seek a heroine for his film and the female characters were enacted by men. One Salunke played the female role of Taramati in this mythological film.”
