Unlimited from Arvind lifestyle brands launches campaign ahead of festive season

MUMBAI: Capitalising on the onset of the festive season, Unlimited, the family fashion store from Arvind Lifestyle Brands, has launched its new campaign – Fashion is Unlimited – through its first ever television commercial.

The central thought of the campaign is that fashion is different for different consumers but also a very vivid expression of individuality for every consumer.

The television commercial for the campaign is based on a very human insight, that the process of dressing up is as important as the result. The TVC takes the viewer through real moments of life like getting ready together as a family for festivals, getting ready for work and getting ready to spend time with friends. Each moment in the TVC captures people across age groups, wearing the extensive range that Unlimited houses. The film translates the campaign thought through messages like fashion is ageless, fashion is looking special on festive days, fashion is looking great, effortless and fashion is for all.

Arvind lifestyle brands MD and CEO Suresh J says, “We aim to cater to the evolving fashion needs of Indians, shopping for value fashion; and through this campaign, we want to drive home the message that Unlimited is the place where everyone can find their style. The film, with its basis on the insight of how the process of dressing up comprises a set of very meaningful moments for the Indian consumer, beautifully highlights the truly ‘Unlimited’ range of fashion choices. The brand is equipped to delight its audience with its offerings, ranging from formal wear, festive wear, traditional outfits, casual work-wear, to kids wear. The TVC reflects our offerings in terms of apparel, offers and fashion to showcase #FashionIsUnlimited.”

Directed by Harshik Suraiya, Vanilla Films, the film beautifully captures the characters’ emotions. The right casting, locations and acting put together, brings alive the emotion and fashion quotient of each film and strikes a chord with the audience.

The TVC launch coincides with a special Dussehra offer for shoppers, to make their festive season an exciting one. Customers can now shop for Rs 3,000 to get a Ruggers duffle bag worth Rs 499 free and for Rs 4,000 to get a Colt/Sugr Gym bag worth Rs 699 + a face towel worth Rs 69.

Unlimited has a network of over close to 91 power format stores spread across 46 cities/towns in India. Over the last two years, Unlimited has forged ahead and further strengthened its brand portfolio by offering both private and international apparel brands.

  • Judwaa 2 hopes to entertain

    Judwaa 2 hopes to entertain

*Judwaa 2 came after a long gap that was filled by mediocre and non-entertaining films. There were no films in the last few months which could draw out the families from home to watch a film.

Two weeks before Diwali was not the right time to release a film but, to counter that, there was also a long holiday weekend with Dussehra on Saturday and Gandhi Jayanti holiday on Monday.

The film rode on the brand equity of the 1997 original, Judwaa, starring Salman Khan in dual role. Salman even helped promote Judwaa 2 through its promos. The film took a decent opening last Friday with Rs 155 million as Saturday improved by bounds as expected, and so did Sunday as the film put together Rs 579 million for its opening weekend.

Gandhi Jayanti holiday may have have proved to be a major boost to the film’s collections.

*Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film, Bhoomi, has flopped. The film could add little to its opening weekend, and had just made about Rs 95 million for its first week.

*Haseena Parkar proved to be another disaster. One wonders at the choice of such subjects to make films! Films and Rani Laxmi don’t work but someone somewhere thought a film on Haseena Parker will work? The film managed to collect Rs 63 million in its first week.

*Newton proved to be surprise packet as its choice as the Indian entry for the Foreign Language Oscar coincided with its Friday release. Two other films to release on the same Friday, Bhoomi and Haseena Parker, being way below par, Newton got a boost as the people’s first choice. The film, which was poor on day one, picked up to end its first week with collections of Rs 112 million.

*Lucknow Central managed to add just about Rs 75 lakh in its week two to take its two week total to Rs 110 million.

*Simran added Rs 13 million in its week two to take its two week total to Rs 158 million.

The Ramayana or Ramkatha tradition is pervasive not only in India but throughout South East Asia. Stories revolving around Ram, Sita and Lakshman penetrate through rural and urban, mundane and religious, sacred and secular domains. They defy categorization of art as folk or classical, rural or urban, textual or oral. Literary, oral, kinetic and pictorial aspects intermingle to generate multiple renditions of the text in different locales and contexts; each rendition with unique local flavour and linguistic distinction. The performative aspect of the text makes it fluid, accessible and adaptable. It accounts for its preservation, survival, transmission and mobility, cutting across boundaries of time and space. Every region has its own particular form and style of singing and reciting the story.

Earlier this week with the start of Mahalaya, DD Bharati in association with the Girnar Kendra of Doordarshan presented ‘Maa Ni Chundari Lehrai’ from its rich collection of archives. A series of Garba presentation especially done and performed during the Navratra Festival was telecast with repeats the next day.

Durga Puja festival is a 10-day long festival that starts off on Mahalaya (the day of the new moon) – the first day when Goddess Durga is believed to come into the world to destroy the evil.  The festival ends up in Dashumi- the last day when the Goddess Durga is believed to go back to her heavenly home, leaving behind the trails of happiness, goodness and purity. This is the day of the Lord’s victory over evil and is celebrated as Vijay Dashami or Dussehra. The salient ritual of Durga Puja spans a five days period Maha Sashti, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Nabami and Vijaya Dashami.

Almost every week there have been four to five new releases and in some weeks the numbers have gone to as high as ten. Picking a good release date has been a big task for corporate houses and movie makers.
