Colors Tamil to premiere Dulquer Salman-starrer ‘Hey Sinamika’ this Sunday

Mumbai: Colors Tamil is all set to bring you the world television premiere of “Hey Sinamika,” starring Dulquer Salman, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kajal Aggarwal, on 28 August, at 2 p.m.

The light-hearted romantic comedy revolves around a wife who is tired of her husband’s overbearing affection and tries to find ways to get away from him.

Directed by choreographer turned director Brinda, the film also features Nakshatra Nagesh, actor Yogi Babu, and stand-up comedian Abhishek Kumar in supporting roles. With melodious and soul-soothing music composed by Govind Vasantha, “Hey Sinamika,” penned by Madhan Karky, will be worth a watch this weekend.

Traversing the life of Mouna (played by Aditi Rao Hydari), who falls head over heels in love with Yazhan (Dulquer Salman), the film focuses on the two years after their marriage, where Mouna is tired of Yazhan’s excessively doting nature. She decides to take up a project in Pondicherry to get away from him for a year. But her efforts fail as Yazhan turns up there as well. Running out of ways to get rid of him, she ends up meeting Mazharvizhi (played by Kajal Aggarwal) and schemes with her to make Yazhan fall in love with the latter, setting up the grounds for a divorce.

Commenting on the premiere, director Brinda said, “I am extremely thrilled that my debut film, “Hey Sinamika,” is set for a world television premiere on Colors Tamil, with whom I have been associated for the longest time. It feels like a homecoming. The title of the film is a tribute to my guru Mani Ratnam’s film “Oh Kadhal Kanmani” and it sums up the plot perfectly. We have all worked tirelessly on the film to make it an entertaining watch, and I am confident that it will receive the same love and appreciation on small screens as it did in theatres. Families, especially new couples, will relate to the film.”

Building on the same theme, Dulquer Salman commented, “Hey Sinamika is one of the films that will always remain close to my heart since director Brinda chose me to be a part of her debut film. I have played light-hearted characters in my previous projects too, but to play an excessively doting husband without becoming extremely annoying for the audience was a tough job. I had to strike a balance between being naive and being slightly irritating. I owe this to director Brinda for moulding my character and my co-actors Aditi and Kajal for supporting Yazhan equally. With the world television premiere, I am sure that viewers are going to experience loads of fun and sentiment this weekend.”

SonyLIV bids high on South content, bags digital rights for two Malayalam films

Mumbai: With an aim to bring diverse content across languages and genres, streaming platform SonyLIV has bagged the direct-to-digital release of two new Malayalam films “Salute” and “Puzhu.” This is for the first time that father-son duo Mammootty and Dulquer Salman will be launching their films on the same OTT platform.

Dulquer-starrer “Salute” is the investigative drama, whereas Mammootty will be seen in the crime thriller “Puzhu.”

Helmed by Rosshan Andrews, “Salute” marks the first association of Dulquer with the director as well as the writer-duo of Bobby and Sanjay. Produced under his production banner Wayfarer Films, it will also be the Malayalam debut of Bollywood actor Diana Penty and will also star Manoj K Jayan in a pivotal role.

Dulquer will also be producing Mammootty’s “Puzhu” under his banner along with S George’s Cyn Cyl Celluloid. Helmed by debutante director Ratheena PT, the film will also star Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead.

“The story of ‘Puzhu’ excited me the most,” said actor Mammootty. “As an actor, it has always been my aim to keep reinventing myself, and to take up newer, more exciting projects. ‘Puzhu’ marks another step in that direction. We tried to tell a story that we believed in and put our hearts into. Hope the viewers like what they see.”

‘It was a great experience working on ‘Salute,’” said actor and producer Dulquer Salman. “I have always been drawn to roles that push me beyond my comfort zone and challenge me as an actor. Bobby and Sanjay have done a remarkable job with the script. It is an intriguing and taut thriller with the characters going through various emotional conflicts and bearing the consequences of their actions. I have always admired Rosshan Andrews’ craft, and it was an honour to work with him. This is very different from the other films I have done so far, and I cannot wait for the audiences to watch it.”
