    Big FM hits the airwaves as official radio partner for Hockey India League 2024-25

    Mumbai: It’s a sound decision. The Hockey India League (HIL) has got into bed with  Big FM for the 2024-25 season as the official radio partner. This partnership seeks to connect hockey with millions of fans and amplify the message of #IndiaKaGame throughout the nation.

    A press release states that the HIL  kicks off on 28 December 2024, featuring an exciting lineup of eight men’s teams and four women’s teams competing in Rourkela and Ranchi. Notably, this season also marks the debut of the Women’s Hockey India League, reinforcing Hockey India’s commitment to inclusivity and the empowerment of women in sports.

    BIG FM COO Sunil Kumaran highlighted that hockey holds a special place in the hearts of millions. “This collaboration reflects our commitment to spreading awareness about the sport’s legacy and significance. Together, we aim to shine a spotlight on hockey’s incredible journey and inspire a deeper appreciation for the sport across the country,” he said.

    HIL governing committee chairperson Dilip Tirkey said, “Radio has a unique ability to connect with people in the remotest corners of the country, making it the perfect medium to promote hockey.     Hockey India League launches campaign ‘Hockey Ka Jashn’

    New Delhi: With just a month remaining for the Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25, the league has unveiled an exciting campaign titled “Hockey Ka Jashn.” This special initiative will feature a nationwide Jashn Tour, where players will travel across the country to bring the passion and spirit of hockey closer to fans.

    Marking the 30-day countdown, the Jashn Tour is at the heart of a larger campaign dedicated to celebrating India Ka Asli Game—hockey—and strengthening the bond between the sport and its fans.

    Scheduled to begin on 28 December in Rourkela, this season of HIL promises to be a spectacular showcase of the finest hockey talent from across the globe. The campaign, Hockey Ka Jashn, meaning “Celebration of Hockey,” aims to unite fans, players, and communities in a grand celebration of the sport, showcasing the thrill and passion that hockey brings to millions around the world.

    The Hockey India League, which is returning after a seven-year hiatus, has attracted the best players, both from India and internationally, making it a premier tournament in the global hockey calendar. With this campaign, Hockey India looks to create even greater excitement among fans as they prepare to cheer for their favourite franchises and stars in this prestigious event.

    Hockey India announces Power Finance Corp (PFC) as title sponsor

    Mumbai: Hockey India on Wednesday announced Power Finance Corp (PFC), a state-owned company that provides financial assistance to India’s power sector, as the Title Sponsor for the upcoming PFC India Vs Germany Bilateral Hockey Series 2024, scheduled to take place on 23 and 24 October 2024 at the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

    This series marks the return of men’s international hockey to the national capital after a decade, made possible due to PFC’s generous support and commitment. The last international match played at the venue was the Hero Hockey World League Final – Men’s Round 4, back in January 2014.

    Under the administrative control of the ministry of power, PFC plays a crucial role in driving growth in the energy sector. Through strategic partnerships and investments, PFC is dedicated to contributing to India’s development through various avenues, with its association with Hockey India for PFC India Vs Germany Bilateral Hockey Series 2024 being the most recent initiative.

    Additionally, entry to the PFC India Vs Germany Bilateral Hockey Series 2024 will be free for spectators, as part of Hockey India’s effort to make it accessible to all. A free digital ticketing system will be introduced to allow fans to secure their tickets easily. Fans will simply need to visit the official ticketing link and register their details to receive a virtual ticket, which will guarantee them hassle-free access to the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.

    India and Germany have a rich hockey history and share a fierce rivalry. In the 19 matches since 2013, India has won 8, while the reigning World Champions and Paris 2024 silver medalists have won 7. The two heavyweights in world hockey last faced each other at the Paris 2024 Olympics semi-final, where the current world champions emerged victorious, winning 3-2.

    Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy Ranchi 2023 to be broadcast live on Sony Sports Network

    Mumbai: Hockey fans get another chance to watch the Asian Games Bronze Medalist Women’s Hockey team in action as the leading sports broadcaster, Sony Sports Network, is the official broadcaster and Sony LIV is the official streaming partner of the Jharkhand Women’s Asian Champions Trophy to be held in Ranchi from 27 October 2023 to 5 November 2023.

    The continental tournament will feature India alongside Japan, China, Malaysia, Korea and Thailand and will entail a total of 20 matches. The tournament will start with a match between Japan and Malaysia on 27 October 2023, from 4:00 pm IST onward while the Indian Women’s Hockey Team under the able leadership of Captain Savita and her deputy Deep Grace Ekka will play their first game against Thailand on 27 October 2023, from 8:30 PM IST onward. With Asian Games Gold medalist China also in the fray, the Indian team will vie for a stronger show in their backyard and lift the trophy for the first time since 2016.
