    Tiranga song, I-Day programmes on All India Radio and Doordarshan

    NEW DELHI: A theme song on Tiranga Yatra to be organized from 15 August to mark the 70thanniversary of India’s Independence from the British has been released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    “The Tiranga Yatra will be a symbol of development, social harmony and unity. It will spread harmony,” Modi said. He also asked the party MPs to highlight the contribution of freedom fighters and martyrs among school children.

    The theme song ’70 Saal Azadi Yaad Karo Kurbani’ has been composed by Dr. Ghazal Srinivas on behalf of Global Hindu Heritage Foundation and Savetemples. The link to the Hindi version is file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Administrator/Desktop/lyric.htm

    In addition, AIR and Doordarshan will broadcast a message by President Pranab Mukherjee on14 August at 7 pm on all their channels followed by translations in Hindi and other regional languages.

    The Prime Minister will unfirl the national flag on the ramparts of Red Fort and then address the nation. This will be covered live by both AIR and DD on all its channels from 7 am on 15 August. This will be followed by a coverage from states by respective DD channels of the celebrations.

    The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has also commenced a festival of patriotic films to mark the occasion in Delhi.

    Launching the song at a function here today, I and B Mnister M Venkaiaih Nadu also announced that Patriotic songs will be played on All India Radii, Doordarshan and FM Radio for three days.

    A collage of patriotic songs in all languages will be telecast by DD and other channels.

    Biographies of the composers/writers of patriotic songs like Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chhatterjee, Muhammad Iqbal, Kavi Pradeep, ShakeelBadayuni, Naushad, Pitambar Das and others as well as songs in regional languages like Bharatamataku JeyJejelu in Telugu by Acharya Atreya (1972), along with the brief anecdotal background will be broadcast before the songs.

    Video and Audio clips of speeches of national icons are being prepared into a short film and be broadcast on DD/AIR and will be circulated on social media.

    These programmes will be interspersed with PM’s clip.

    All speech documentaries will be telecast in local languages also.
    Naidu said the Festival of Independence being celebrated throughout the country offers an opportunity for the citizens to remember the sacrifices and contributions made by great leaders during the Indian Freedom Struggle and National Movement.

    MoS Rajyavardhan Rathore, and MoS Defence Subhash Ramrao Bhamre were also present during the occasion.

    Elaborating further, Naidu said that the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ song captures the patriotic fervor and showcases the diversity in the country. He said that the Idea of India was being reinforced through the song and that the song aims to promote brotherhood and the feeling of oneness among all the citizens. The Minister also released the list of activities that are going to be performed by various ministries.

    The webpage that can be accessed from PIB’s home page pib.nic.in is designed was launched here today by Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu.

    The webpage showcases hundreds of archival photographs, audio and video clips, write-ups and features on leaders and events related to the freedom struggle. The webpage will host live webcast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day Speech from the Red Fort and will also host other speeches delivered by the Prime Minister at events related to these celebrations.

    NEW DELHI: Both All India Radio and Doordarshan have spent around Rs 35 crore in setting up transmitters and programming in left wing extremist (LWE) areas.

    Programmes are aired on the theme of dissuading the youth from getting involved in anti-social activities and persuading those, who have misguidedly taken to arms, to come back and join the mainstream, Parliament was told recently.

    These are telecasting Developmental programmes on Education, Youth Welfare, Women Empowerment, welfare schemes for the area, Forest Act and Rights of Tribals including coverage of local festivals and tribal folk music in their local languages and dialects.

    The thrust is largely on the developmental schemes/activities of the Government of India and the State Governments. These programmes also dwell on the need of maintaining law and order in the concerned areas so that people’s progress could be achieved faster.

    As far as AIR is concerned, six new FM High Power Transmitters have been planned in LWE affected areas at a total cost of Rs.28.06 Crores at Kakinada East Godavari/Andhra Pradesh; Muzaffarpur in Bihar; Amibikapur Sarguja in Chhattisgarh; Dhanbad in Jharkhand; Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi (Odisha), and Suryapet in Nalgonda (Telangana).

    In addition to this, existing old/outlived transmitters at AIR stations functional in LWE affected areas are also planned for replacement by High Power Transmitters.
    As far as Doordarshan is concerned, a part of digitalization scheme approved under the 12th Plan Projects of setting up digital HPTs at a cost of Rs. 6.62 crore each have been implemented at Muzaffarpur (Bihar); Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh); and Jamshedpur (Jharkhand).

    It was also emphasized by the sources that all the areas uncovered by terrestrial transmitters are covered with multichannel TV coverage through Doordarshan’s free to air DTH service Freedish.

    NEW DELHI: While denying that there were any cases of obscenity in advertisements on Doordarshan, the Government recently said a total of forty-one instances of obscene advertisements on private television channels had been acted on between 2013 and 2016.

    Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiaih Naidu said all programmes and advertisements of Doordarshan are telecast as per the Doordarshan broadcast/commercial code for advertising and in conformity of programme and advertising codes prescribed under the Cable Television Networks Rules 1994 enshrined under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995.

    He told the Lok Sabha that while there was no pre-censorship of content telecast on private TV channels, there were adequate provisions to deal with violations.

    The Act prescribes that all programmes and advertisements telecast on such TV channels should be in conformity with the prescribed Programme Code and Advertising Code enshrined in the Act and the rules framed thereunder. The codes contain parameters to regulate programmes and advertisements on TV channels including those which may contain obscene and vulgar programmes and advertisements.

    He said there were 21 cases of obscenity in advertisements in 2013, five in 2014, eleven in 2015 and four in 2016.

    In most cases, warnings and advisories were issued and in some cases apology scolls had to be run for a fixed period.

    NEW DELHI: Information & Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said the principal objective of public communication is to make people informed participants and enthusiastic partners in the task of nation building.

    Effective public communication was the backbone for change management and thus all officials of the Ministry and its Media Units were important stakeholders in this process as agents of change.

    Addressing the Officers of Ministry and Media Units, Naidu said “technological advances had revolutionized the way we communicate with each other” and there was a need to fully harness Social Media platforms like Twitter, Facebook for effective communication and participatory development.

    Minister of State Rajyavardhan Rathore, Secretary Ajay Mittal and Media Heads were present on the occasion.

    The Minister said there was vast scope for improvement of effective functional linkages among different media units of the Ministry including Press Information Bureau, Publications Division, Directorate of Field Publicity, Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Films Division, All India Radio and Doordarshan. This would ensure a comprehensive and integrated outreach of the Government initiatives.

    The Minister said it was imperative to realize the importance of communication in achieving the mission of making of a developed India and the celebration of India in its diverse and rich cultural traditions.

    He said the Government priorities were clear in the context of expectations from officials which included focus on Results, Transparency, Accountability, Discipline and Enabling work environment.
