    ZEEL’s legal head Anil Lale quits

    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL)’s Anil Lale has put in his papers and is stepping down from his position as head of legal and group general counsel.

    A source close to the broadcaster informed, “ Anil Lale has officially put down his papers and is currently serving his notice period. He will stay in office till mid July.”

    Lale joined ZEEL on 26 August 2014, where he lead a growing legal team that enabled Zee’s media businesses across the world and managed all related litigation. This included the broadcast business of entertainment and news with a portfolio of 36 channels, international distribution and carriage of television channels across platforms throughout the world and content licensing of television programs, movies and formats across the world.

    Lale’s duties also included legal matters related to content production of television programs and Bollywood films, music label under the brand Zee Music Company where music is produced, acquired and licensed across platforms. Apart from this he was looking after the digital businesses including one of the largest OTT platforms (Ditto TV), commercial web portals and upcoming ventures in the digital space and news print business under the brand DNA.

    Prior joining ZEEL, Lale worked with Viacom 18 as a legal associate vice president.

    MUMBAI: Subhash Chandra’s national Hindi news channel Zee News is now a Free-To-Air (FTA) channel. The decision was taken at a board meeting held on 6 May 2016.

    A flagship property of Zee Media Corporation company and a subsidiary of Essel Group, the channel was founded in 1999 and is an Indian news and current affairs channel.

    It may also be recalled that ZMCL CEO Bhaskar Das was recently moved to Zee Unimedia Limited as president and chief growth and innovation officer. 
    Zee Media Corporation Limited is India’s one of the largest news network with 10 channels, Mumbai edition of DNA newspaper and digital properties like zeenews.com and dnaindia.com.

    Zee Tamil to produce Season 3 and 4 of DNA in India

    MUMBAI: Zee Tamil, a general entertainment channel of the Zeel group has bought the format DNA to India for the third time in a row. The Singapore based content distribution and production agency Bomanbridge Media announced the renewal deal with Zee Tamil, for seasons 3 and 4 of the hit family game show format.  Renewal of Season 2 was announced in the January of this year. 

    Zee Tamil will produce another 26 episodes each for season 3 and season 4 of the show. This simple and fun game show divides parents on one side and children of any age on the other side of the studio.  The contestant stands in the middle and has to play the game of matching the parents and children together through entertaining and unexpected challenges. Every day, a prize is awarded to the person who manages to identify all the pairs.

    This show has been produced in Spain, Italy, India and Indonesia. DNA. is currently one of the top-rated game shows on TV across Tamil Nadu in India. 

     “Bomanbridge is thrilled to announce yet another renewal of this great family format, demonstrating that India is happy to take the DNA challenge.     MUMBAI: : Zee Media Corporation Limited (ZMCL) announced that its English news channel WION head Rohit Gandhi will take on additional responsibility as editor-in-chief of its English daily DNA. The new appointments will come into effect today,7 April. All editorial functions will henceforth report to Rohit Gandhi.

    Additionally, Shreyasi Goenka, who has been mentoring the content at DNA for a while, will now take the responsibility of content advisor and will guide all functions of DNA. Uday Nirgudkar who has been heading DNA along with Zee 24 Taas, will now continue to lead Zee 24 Taas as its business head.

    Commenting on the new leadership, Essel Group & Zee Media Corporation Limited (ZMCL) chairman Subhash Chandra said, “One of our Vision 2020 goals is to become a leading global media conglomerate which is hugely dependent on our ability to create an organization that has the capacity to achieve its desired aspirations.     MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (Zeel) had earlier informed BSE that the board of directors of the company at its meeting held on March 29, 2016, inter alia, have approved in-principle the proposal for re-organising advertisement sales and channel distribution functions in the business operations of the company.

    With a view to provide media planners with multiple options across genres and platforms, the Zeel board has approved re-organisation of advertisement sales function under a separate entity formed for the purpose on March 23, 2016 in the name of Zee Unimedia Limited. Zeel Chief Sales Officer Ashish Sehgal will be in charge of the new entity as COO. Speaking to Indiantelevision.com Sehgal said, “The key is to consolidate, Zeel, ZMCL, Zee Digital and DNA business in the first phase and then later on focus on Dish TV too.”

    Sehgal has his eyes on the digital wave, “Digital is growing fast and we will monetise it to the most,” he added.

    On the other hand, ZMCL CEO Bhaskar Das will now serve Zee Unimedia Limited as president and chief growth and innovation officer, “He will be reporting to me” confirmed Sehgal

    To facilitate such reorganisation, the Zeel board has approved acquisition of 100 per cent equity stake comprising of 700 Equity Shares of Rs .10 each of Zee Unimedia Ltd, at par, from the subscribers viz certain employees and key managerial personnel of the company.

    MUMBAI: On International Women’s day Viacom18 thought of a great way to surprise their women employees- with Cupcakes! They walked into their offices to be greeted with a bright and cheery box that held a sweet surprise. A welcome sugar rush early in the morning.

    Media & Entertainment is always stressful with pressures 24/7 and this gesture was much appreciated by the women. The menwere given 5 placards with taglines like Red Bull Lady, Invincible Rock, Sweetest Soul, Brightest Star etc. When you work with your colleagues for long hours people’s personalities shine through. They had to give their favorite women colleagues the sayings that applied to them. In this way they wereable to express their appreciation for their colleagues with personal messages at the back of the cards.  

    Given the fact that Viacom18 network has a multigenerational workforce, women of all ages enjoyed this gesture. Whilequirky is part of the Network’s DNA they didn’t have to think too far out of the box as Cupcakes win every time!
