    MUMBAI: Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Z) today announced that its shareholders have decisively approved the appointments of advertising professional  Divya Karani as an independent director and Saurav Adhikari as a non-executive director to the company’s board. The endorsement, secured through a remote e-voting postal ballot that concluded today, reflects strong shareholder confidence in the board’s ability to drive value creation and foster robust growth.

    The company’s strategic vision includes enhancing board guidance and strengthening its governance framework. The inclusion of highly experienced individuals from diverse sectors is central to this approach, a company press release states. Karani and adhikari are expected to provide comprehensive guidance to the management team, ensuring effective execution of the strategic growth plan.

    Karani brings over three decades of experience in the advertising and media sectors, notably as the chief executive of dentsu media, south Asia. Her insights are anticipated to be invaluable for advertising revenue. Adhikari, with more than 30 years of expertise in global technology, fast-moving consumer goods, and consumer durables, will contribute significantly from an operations and investment perspective. He is the founder and senior partner at Indus Tech Edge Fund I.

    Z chairman R. Gopalan expressed gratitude to shareholders, highlighting the “sharp business acumen” and “creative expertise” that the two directors will bring to the board. He reiterated  that they  will only strengthen “the  board’s directional guidance to the management team as the company progresses towards the targeted aspirations. We remain committed towards fortifying Z and maximizing shareholder value, through all our decisions.”

    Mumbai: Dentsu India has announced the appointment of Bhasker Jaiswal as chief operations officer, media. As a member of the executive team, he will report to Dentsu South Asia chief executive officer, media, Divya Karani.

    In his new role, Bhasker will lead integration, transformation, and operational excellence agendas while driving innovations and excellence for Dentsu clients and businesses through its three media agencies: Carat, iProspect, and Dentsu X. He will work closely with Divya Karani to deliver business transformation, set up and standardise operations and systems, govern product leadership, and enable sustainable revenue growth.

    With over 24 years of experience in the media and advertising industry across APAC (India, Malaysia, China, and Singapore), Bhaskar specialises in building solutions for advertisers and media companies across monetisation, research, and media investments. His key strength lies in understanding the ecosystem of consumers, advertisers, and media owners, as well as the decision-making heuristic. He is passionate about disrupting the current thinking and has developed industry-leading proprietary products that bring efficiency and effectiveness across geographies and clients.

    Dentsu appoints Saagar Sethi to lead Amplifi in India

    Mumbai: Dentsu India appointed Saagar Sethi as the president of its supply side management platform, Amplifi. Saagar stepped into the role in April 2022, as part of the increased media leadership roster across Dentsu India.  

    In his new role, Saagar will lead the network’s investment management, media trading (media owner services and principal buying) and content (original partnerships & entertainment) businesses in India. He will also have responsibility for helping drive the continued growth of The Story Lab and Posterscope, two specialist agency units within Dentsu which focus on entertainment production and out of home (OOH) capabilities, respectively. Saagar will report to Divya Karani, media CEO, Dentsu – South Asia and work closely with the global Amplifi leadership to focus on creating truly sustainable values for Dentsu and its partners in India and across the globe.

    Armed with 15 years of experience in transition management, Saagar’s appointment echoes Dentsu’s commitment to continually elevate its growth trajectory across markets. The network’s rapid transformation ensures it offers long-term sustainable growth to clients via distinctive, integrated capabilities in an environment which is forever changing.  

    Prior to this, Saagar was the head of indirect procurement in LG Electronics India, where he played an instrumental role in successfully handling diversified, complex and companywide transformation projects, nationally and internationally. He has also participated in organizational design, transitioning and change management journeys for leading brands like LG Electronics and Ernst & Young.

    Roopam Garg elevated to CEO of dentsu X India

    Mumbai: Dentsu India has elevated Roopam Garg to the role of dentsu X (dX) India CEO, effective immediately. He will continue to report to CEO for media South Asia Divya Karani.

    Garg, who has been in the role of chief operating officer (COO) of dX India for five years, will now lead the media agency and accelerate its growth, said the agency in a statement.

    “We are living in exciting times, with many new progress prospects ahead of us. I am confident that under Roopam’s leadership and his intuitive ability to assemble highly motivated teams, the best days are yet to come,” said Divya Karani.

    During his role as COO, Garg played a key role in accelerating dentsu X’s growth. He brings over two decades of experience in communication/media holding senior leadership roles spanning across five regions/markets India, MENA, China, Vietnam and London. Prior to this, he has held senior leadership roles as Publicis Groupe Vietnam managing director of and ZenithOptimedia Group India COO.

    In his new role as CEO, Garg will be responsible for carrying forward the learnings of seamless integrated consumer and brand interaction to drive holistic communication planning for clients’ businesses. Aligned with the global plan of transforming into the world’s most integrated group by 2024, dX India’s growth story will further accelerate dentsu India 2.0.

    dentsu X tops global RECMA rankings for third time in a row

    Mumbai: RECMA, the independent research firm that evaluates media agencies, has launched its ‘overall activity volume rankings’ report for July 2021. According to the report, dentsu X has been acknowledged as the ‘fastest-growing media agency globally’. With 8.8 per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) agency growth and a growth of 81 per cent over time, dentsu X has won the title for the third consecutive year.

    “To be recognised in this way for three years straight is a great endorsement of our proposition, ‘experience beyond exposure’, which places consumer delight back at the heart of marketing,” said dentsu X global client & brand president, Sanjay Nazerali while commenting on the RECMA ranking. “It is a testament to the long-held dentsu edict of ‘servant leadership’ – we only win when our clients, teams, and partners win too,” Nazerali added.

    Additionally, basis the qualitative parameters, the agency also secured the title of ‘#1 dominant agency’ by RECMA in February. The agency has bagged this recognition for the second time in a row.

    Dentsu India rejigs leadership, elevates Divya Karani & Kartik Iyer

    MUMBAI: Dentsu International has made key leadership changes in India as part of its global organisational redesign. Media Brands and Amplifi erstwhile president Kartik Iyer will now join the network’s market leadership team as its chief operating officer. He will continue to report into Anand Bhadkamkar and will be instrumental in driving the implementation of dentsu’s new business model within the country.

    Iyer will help navigate Dentsu’s global transformation program with a focus on collaborating with leaders and client teams across businesses in the market to change how the network works and inculcate the culture of operational excellence. He will engage with regional teams, global teams, and all other network brands to ensure that the ongoing transformation program and the new business model is efficiently adopted and effectively addresses local business requirements.

    The network has also appointed Dentsu X India CEO Divya Karani as the chief executive officer for media, south Asia. Here, media includes the agencies dentsu X, Carat, iProspect and Posterscope. She will continue to report into Anand Bhadkamkar. In this additional role, Karani will be responsible for driving the global media strategy and delivery in south Asia, ensuring its alignment and relevance to the market..

For the record, the agency recently witnessed the merger of Vizeum and iProspect into one to bring together the former’s media strategy and planning, storytelling, and brand-building capabilities with the latter’s digital expertise, audience knowledge, and performance mindset. Anita Kotwani will continue to lead the Carat brand for India.

    NEW DELHI: Recma, the independent research firm that evaluates media agencies, has named dentsu X, the integrated media specialist from the house of dentsu international, and Mindshare India as the most ‘dominant agencies’ in the country. Some of the other agencies that made the list include Madison, Lodestar, Zenith, Initiative and Starcom.

    dentsu X India has also been ranked the undisputed number one agency on vitality in Recma's latest ‘Dominant agencies: where are the champions?’ report.

    With the maximum scores earned on both competitive pitch wins and momentum in the last three years, this is the third consecutive year for dentsu X to be acknowledged as the much-coveted number one agency on vitality.

    For the record, the report was released on September 30, 2020. Out of 700 agencies evaluated globally in the report, only 27 agencies are dominant in the top 16 countries. Carried in 47 countries totally, it’s an audit of media agency performances and competences based on 19 criteria. This in-depth report captured the last three-year track record based on competitive pitches, agency momentum, resources, and the client profile of each agency.

    NEW DELHI: dentsu X India has retained the media mandate for the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). The agency won the account following a multi-agency pitch. For the record, dentsu X was also the incumbent, having handled the brand since 2016. The other agencies contending for the business were Mindshare, Madison and Initiative.

    AMFI chairman Nilesh Shah said, “We are pleased to renew our relationship with dentsu X. The agency has shown an in-depth understanding of the category and consumer.
