    BENGALURU: The Sunil Lulla led Eros International Media Limited (Eros) reported 11.4 percent increase in total revenue including other income (TR) for the fiscal ended 31 March 2016 (FY-16, current year, current fiscal) as compared to the previous year. Eros reported TR of Rs 1,603.45 crore in FY-16 as compared to Rs 1,441.03 crore in FY-15.

    The company’s Total Income from Operations (TIO) in the current year increased 11.3 percent to Rs 1,582.58 crore in the previous fiscal. Profit after Tax (PAT) after minority interest in the current year declined 13.5 percent to Rs 214.15 crore (13.4 percent PAT margin of TR) as compared to Rs 247.06 crore (17.1 PAT margin of TR) in the previous year.

    Eros says that revenue for FY-16 saw a significant growth on account of global releases of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Bajirao Mastani, TanuWeds Manu Returns, Welcome Back, Srimanthudu amongst others across theatrical, overseas and satellite revenues, and overseas releases of Dil Dhadakne Do, Singh is Bling and Gabbar is Back reinforcing the portfolio and film mix strategy

    Earnings before Interest and Tax in FY-16 declined 6.6 percent to Rs 337.36 crore from Rs 361.19 crore in the previous year.

    The breakup of revenues in FY-16 was: Television and others 30 percent; Theatrical 43.8 percent; Overseas 26.1 percent. The comparative breakup of revenues in FY-15 was: Television and others 31.3 percent; Theatrical 38 percent; Overseas 30.7 percent.

    Total Expenditure in the current year increased 17.2 percent to Rs 1,266.09 crore (80 percent of TIO) from Rs 1,079.84 (76 percent of TIO) in FY-15.

    Direct Costs during FY-16 stood at Rs 1,144.8 crore, including Rs. 617.8 crore of content amortization (Rs 940 crore of direct costs including content amortization of Rs 497.6 crore in FY-15) and overflow accrued to Producers on account of hit films.

    For the period ending March 31, 2016, the company generated free cash flow of Rs 300 crore as compared to negative Rs 50 crore in FY-15. As on 31 March 2016, total receivables stood at Rs. 428.2 crore as compared to Rs. 525.7 crore as on 31 March, 2015.

    Films released in FY-16

    In FY-16, of the 63 films released by Eros, 6 high budget, 16 medium and 41 low budget films were released in as against 6 high budget, 11 medium and 47 low budget movies in FY-15. In FY-16, of the 63 films that were released 33 were Hindi and 30 were Regional films as compared to 64 films during FY-15, which included 45 Hindi and 19 regional films.

    In the quarter ended 31 March 2016 (Q4-16, current quarter) Q4-16, only 6 medium and 6 low budget films were released as against 1 high budget, 4 medium and 17 low budget movies in Q4-15. During the quarter, 12 films were released consisting of 3 Hindi and 5 Tamil/Telugu films and 4 Regional films as compared to 22 films during Q4-15, which included 17 Hindi and 5 Tamil/Telugu films.

    Zee Cinema HD to premiere ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’

    MUMBAI: It’s raining movie premieres on television and the latest one that will soon have its world television premiere is Dil Dhadakne Do, which is directed by Zoya Akhtar.

     

    Zee Cinema HD will premiere the movie on 19 September at 8 pm. 

     

    Shot across the Mediterranean Sea on a cruise ship, the film stars Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhaan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma and Shefali Shah. Additionally, the film has narration by Aamir Khan.

    Eros acquires worldwide rights of ‘Rock On 2’

    MUMBAI: Eros International Media has acquired the worldwide distribution rights of Excel Entertainment’s forthcoming release Rock On 2.

     

    Eros International Media group CEO Jyoti Deshpande said, “With Rock On 2, we continue our synergy with Excel after our previous successes like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhadakne Do. The sequel promises to be another heartwarming story high on content and entertainment.”

     

    Excel Entertainment producer Ritesh Sidhwani added, “We are happy to associate with Eros International once again and look forward to our film getting the best release platform through their unparalleled reach and network.”

     

    Written and directed by debutant film maker, Shujaat Saudagar, Rock On 2 is the sequel to the rock musical drama, Rock On. While Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli and Prachi Desai will reprise their roles from the original film, Shraddha Kapoor joins the star cast to play the lead role along with Akhtar for the first time. 

     

    The film will be shot in Shillong, the rock capital of India.

    Q1-2016: Eros International revenue doubles at Rs 480.6 crore, PAT up 49%

    MUMBAI: Eros International Media Limited’s revenue for the quarter ended 30 June, 2015 almost doubled at Rs 480.6 crore, which was 96.5 per cent more than Rs 244.6 crore in Q1 FY15.

     

    The company’s profit after tax (PAT) was up 48.9 per cent at Rs 53.40 crore in Q1 2016 as against Rs 35.8 crore in the same quarter previous year. The EBIT at Rs 96.3 crore went up by 60.70 per cent. 

     

    The company released a total of 16 films during the quarter as compared to nine in Q1-2015.

     

    Eros International Media executive vice chairman and managing director Sunil Lulla said, “We have had an excellent start to fiscal 2016 with the resounding success of Tanu Weds Manu Returns and our other major new releases, Uttama Villian, Masss, Dil Dhadakne Do (overseas) and Gabbar (overseas), doing well. The portfolio performance reinforces our strategy of investing in content-driven films, which are prudently budgeted and then extensively monetized across traditional and emerging platforms.”

     

    “As a strategy, we continue to diversify our presence across different film genres, budgets and languages. Further, strong pre-sales for our films remains one of the cornerstones of our strategy,” he added.  

     

    “The start to the second quarter has been exceptional with multiple-record breaker Bajrangi Bhaijaan delivering a worldwide gross of over Rs 5 billion.     ‘Bangistan’ signs hotstar as digital partner

    MUMBAI: After Tanu Weds Manu Returns and the multi-starrer hit Dil Dhadakne Do, the forthcoming comic caper Bangistan has signed Star India’s over-the-top (OTT) platform hotstar as digital partner.

     

    The partnership will encompass the movie’s marketing initiatives ahead of its nationwide release on 7 August. 

     

    Using innovative and entertaining content as a means of promoting awareness and expectation for itself, Bangistan has shot wacky videos featuring its lead actors, Riteish Deshmukh and Pulkit Samrat in conversation and demonstrations with Cyrus Sahukar. The tongue-in-cheek videos range from a class in homegrown bomb-making, a discussion on the alphabets taught to trainee terrorists, and windows into their funny lifestyles and priorities in the back of beyond.

    Box office: ‘ABCD 2’ collects Rs 71.15 crore

    MUMBAI: The only release of the week, Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho finds no takers. A product of weird imagination, it sinks taking its crudity along.

     

    ABCD 2 sustains well through its first week catering to youth at elite multiplexes to collect Rs 71.15 crore. The film is enjoying open run sans opposition and should maintain steady run in its second week.

     

    Hamari Adhuri Kahani does okay in its second week by collecting Rs 4.45 crore to take its two week tally to Rs 30.95 crore.

     

    Dil Dhadakne Do added Rs 3.75 crore in its third week, taking its three week total to Rs 73.65 crore.

     

    Tanu Weds Manu weathers rains, heat and oppositions. The film has collected Rs 3.25 crore in its fifth week to take its five week tally to Rs 149.63 crore.

     

    Piku has added about Rs 10 lakh in its seventh week taking its seven week tally to Rs 80.02 crore.

     

    Sardarji, a Punjabi film released in Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai and a few other centres has proved to be another trailblazer from its superstar hero, Diljeet Dosanjh. The film has collected over Rs 8.5 crore in its opening weekend from India alone while also going strong in the overseas markets.
