Digital Marketing Integration: foreseegame.com backs brands in consumer engagement

MUMBAI: Digital marketing is a foundation stone of any marketing strategy nowadays and with the plethora of devices taking over television and print media world, there is now an even bigger need to come up with a successful digital marketing strategy to make brands known to the public at large.

Real time data analysis helps in optimising campaign effectiveness wherein requisite changes can be made in a relatively lesser time span as compared to traditional marketing thereby providing a holistic approach to effective campaign management.

Kolkata-headquartered digital media company foreseegame.com, which has tied up with more than 105 brands including Emami, Jabong.com, Spencer’s, Khadim’s, Myntra.com, adda52.com and LimeRoad to name a few among others, acts as a bridge between brands and their customers to build strong bonding, which further leads the customers to become brand loyal consumers

foreseegame.com is a medium where people can register and play games for free and get rewarded directly by the brands themselves. Through such engagement programmes, the brands can see these people converting into customers soon. The constant engagement with brands excites consumers to test the products and services.

The consumer engagement platform, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsec Enterprises, is eyeing to associate with approximately 500 brands by the end of current fiscal year 2015-16. It is a value innovation in digital brand promotion and marketing media. This new age platform provides a two way engagement and a win-win partnership through direct interactions between brands and consumers.

foreseegame.com CEO Supriya Nair said, “Through our platform and engagement games, brands can engage with people from any age group who are internet savvy. Brands can place themselves in the mind of our game buddies (foreseegame.com users) and build more consumers.”

foreseegame.com is a platform for branding, close interaction with the mass and also helps in communicating latest offers & offering by the associating brands.

“It is a medium, which covers the full cycle of engagement by providing solution of rich engagement, and establishing an emotional connect between the brands and foreseegame.com users. Our platform provides a focused consumer engagement campaign/ solution. Brands stand to gain undiluted consumer attention towards its products and services by the way of fun-filled interaction,” the CEO said, explaining what foreseegame.com has to offer to clients.

Businesses are trying hard to win the marketing battle by implementing all sorts of digital and traditional campaigns. Some work, some don’t, some go terribly bad. The toughest part of digital marketing is that there are thousands of places where marketing campaigns are placed; websites, social media, TV, radio, blogs, video streams etc. Arriving at the ROI (Return on Investment) from all these different campaigns is a difficult task, and hard to get accurate reports out of them, Nair further explained.

“By using foreseegame.com, brands can engage with people and register the brands in the minds of people. Going forward, brands stand to gain undiluted consumer attention towards its products and offerings. The constant engagement with brands excites consumers to test the product and ultimately become the customer of the brand,” she said.

In order for brands to win on the digital battlefield, understanding what digital channels and what types of digital content perform is the vital first step in “planning.” Digital advertising is set to become the fastest-growing global advertising segment over the next five years according to McKinsey, with projected compound annual increases of 15.1 per cent by 2018, compared to five per cent for TV (including advertising, out-of-home advertising, and cinema).

Smart digital marketers are now investing and building integrated digital campaigns around high-impact channels while understanding how content insights, production and measurement fuel their performance.

“Consumer engagement is required, but that should not just be limited to an interaction with customers. It should be more like a long-term affair, wherein key consumer insights should also be taken into account,” opined Nair.

When asked if the company takes consumer insights into account, she said, “Brand ideas are often the culmination of consumer insight and the brand offer.”

Speaking on how brands benefit by integrating with foreseegame.com, Nair said, “New brands can make foreseegame.com users to get to know about them and their products and service whereas, existing known brands can maintain their grip in a stronger way to its existing consumers and also can build new consumers base.”

foreseegame.com with its various campaign models helps brands to reach their target group directly. “Brands with campaign model like ‘Opinion Square’ can take a public opinion on their existing and upcoming products and services which would help them to modify as per the market requirement. Similarly, ‘Treasure Hunt’, another campaign model helps to get more traffic to the website/social media pages of the brand, which popularise their website/social media pages,” she said.

“Dedicated campaign around the associated brand build strong connect between the brand and game buddies where they get a chance to win offers and offerings directly from the brands. foreseegame.com instils a pride of winning, as game buddies (foreseegame.com users) participate in the brand dedicated games and win the offer,” Nair concluded.

  • GroupM launches India Digital Playbook 2014-15

GroupM launches India Digital Playbook 2014-15

MUMBAI: “We recall that, at WPP Stream India in February 2014, the renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur metaphorically referred to digital marketing as Shiv Tandava. We whole-heartedly agree with Kapur’s viewpoint,” is how the GroupM opened and launched its India Digital Playbook.

The Playbook seeks to guide brand advertisers on the fast evolving digital media space in India.

With India now standing at third position globally in internet users after China and US, the user growth is brisk- India today has 2.3 times the users that it had three years back. As of June 2014 India has 243 million internet users. For marketers, this comes as a significant challenge as well as opportunity to re-look media priorities and mix to take advantage of this shift.

The always moving, always new, always-on digital and mobile screen experiences that are prevalent today constitute a new media phenomenon. This brings immense opportunities as well as new challenges on how brands now need to converse with their customers. Successful brands will be those that can adapt to the unrelenting pace of digital innovation.

To help brands in this endeavour, GroupM has got some of the best digital minds in the country to come up with seven actionable opportunities in the coming year – like mobility, real time content and media, digital and experiential platforms.

The playbook further details several milestones – including creating a matrix of outcomes and drafting a mobile first view- that brands should aspire to achieve this year to capitalise on these opportunities. The playbook recommends that brand advertisers adopt holistic insights and data driven approach with integrated marketing technology framework as the key enabler.

GroupM Interaction managing partner Tushar Vyas said, “The digital revolution has now become an avalanche. This in turn opens greater avenues for brands to reach out and communicate effectively with their target audience. The Group M India Digital Playbook aims at providing a blueprint to help guide marketers through the twists and turns that await us.”

The report goes on to say that currently the marketplace is very cluttered and fragmented in India and Programmatic Advertising has become a “catchall” term that the industry is using for behavioural targeting, real time bidding, exchange buying and all sort of things. Through the Playbook, the media agency wants to help marketers traverse this maze where it has outlined a few key recommendations on the Programmatic Advertising Strategy.

  • 9 takeaways from GoaFest 2014!

    9 takeaways from GoaFest 2014!

GOA: Contrary to popular perception, GoaFest is not just about beer, beach and a break from deadlines.

Barely my second year at the fest and energy levels seem to be hitting the roof, speculations of certain biggies giving the event a miss notwithstanding.

As they say the show must go on and so it is that we’ve had our share of sundry speakers, some getting a standing ovation and others tickling our funny bone. On my part, I’ve put down nine observations as key takeaways from this edition of GoaFest.

    Clients love their agencies

Yes, you read it right. Britannia’s ever energetic Anuradha Narsimhan made a candid observation yesterday. She said she loves her associates (agencies) who care for her brands. Agency types were obviously bubbling with joy when they heard this.

Pepsico’s Deepika Warrier presented her ‘one’ philosophy saying the thought of being ‘one team’ had worked wonders in the relationship PepsiCo had with its agency partners. How often do you hear a client saying all this at a public forum? These thoughts put a smile on my face.

    It’s time for ‘social relevance’

The marketing world may be talking about the power of social but is digital marketing only about being powerful on social? Wondered Preethi Mariappa of Razorfish Germany and said it was time for brands to give consumers memorable experiences on social.

2014 will be the age of social relevance, according to Mariappa. She sounded a note of caution however that while there is much optimism about the social space changing marketing dynamics, it was left to be seen whether brands towed the line.

    Comedy sells best on social

Unlike the impression I had that the fest would be all too serious, a few surprises threw me. When team All India Bakchod (AIB), India’s foremost comedy podcast creators took centre stage, I was sure that there would be some great points of view coming their way, no pun intended.

The funnies shared their success story and said to create an impressive podcast, you needed to follow your heart, mind and punch in some great flow of ideas. I realised that in India, content needs to be crafted, keeping in mind cultural implications. As people open up their minds, content too will take newer shapes on social.

Digital media in search of creativity

A common point that came up over the three days was that brands need to get out of their comfort zone. A good idea can come from anywhere; said MEC’s Melanie Varley. She said that brands should do something to make people talk about them. Though creativity is subjective, it is essential that brands put on their thinking cap to grab attention on social.

    Everyone likes storytellers

Storytelling is an art that makes every conversation memorable. The digital case studies that were showcased by various local and international experts had one thing in common – shareability

Content on digital is a hit only when people share it. Thus, brands need to be great storytellers even on digital.

    It’s all about digital

Everyone is talking about digital. Everyone wants to be on digital. Time demands brands and agencies think digital! The ‘just a click away’ culture has changed many lives and businesses.

You can be an inspiration at any age

No one had expected two kids all suited to go up on stage and confidently share their business story. With a grin and passion in their eyes, Shravan and Sanjay won hearts and got a standing ovation with their story. They are the country’s youngest app developers. If there is such a thing as age is only a number, truly, these two are an inspiration for people of all ages.

Impressive new entrants in the Abbys

PR and Broadcaster – the newbies in GoaFest this year, got an overwhelming response. The Advertising Club and chairman of the Awards Governing Council president Pratap Bose mentioned that the 10 member jury for the PR category was excited to see some good pieces of work. PR locally doesn’t have a platform to showcase its work. The move to introduce these categories is a wise one.

    Cooperative competition

As I am about to finish this piece, a fellow journalist comes and waves to me. A newsletter from competition which is right in front of me features one of my tweets about GoaFest. Another reporter from a rival publication calls out to me for a stroll along the beach. Did someone say competition? We’re here to learn and absorb from one another.

Apart from the takeaways, here’s a big shout out to all the winners from indiantelevision.com

  • Will Kolkata go the Mumbai way?

Will Kolkata go the Mumbai way?

KOLKATA: Digital marketing may have caught on in a big way in metros like Mumbai and Delhi but in Kolkata, it is struggling to play catch-up, largely due to skepticism around its success as a promotional strategy.

This, despite the recent example of Bengali film Aborto garnering over 30,000 Facebook likes, not to mention huge pre-release awareness simply by paying Facebook Rs 832 per day for a period of 25 days before the movie hit theatres.

Let’s Assist Digital Services CEO Prasit Bhattacharya opined that digital marketing is being adopted by both small and medium sized businesses

City-based digital advertising agencies are positive that all businesses stand to benefit by deploying new methods of advertising, moreso those related to travel, real estate and e-commerce.

In fact, with the number of internet users having multiplied, most businesses that have been following traditional advertising methods (TV, radio and newspaper ads) are expected to divert some portion of their ad budget to digital platforms.

And yet, there’s agreement on the fact that it would take some more convincing before the City of Joy gets into serious digital space.

In a bid to understand the situation at ground zero, this correspondent spoke to a cross-section of industry.

Inter Action owner Prantar Chaudhuri said: “Apart from Facebook and Twitter, the next most used digital platforms are Instagram and LinkedIn. But FB and Twitter are priority.” However, he did say they had done a short-term Facebook plan for a client called Call Buddy, which is into customised gifts and novelties.

While Let’s Assist Digital Services CEO Prasit Bhattacharya opined that digital marketing is being adopted by both small and medium sized businesses. “The growth rate of digital advertising is almost 50 per cent and it will keep growing as the number of internet users increases. While social media marketing (SMM) finds a niche market here, we are seeing more activity in this space than before,” he said.

Bhattacharya said that with people searching for more and more information online, sites such as Tumblr and SlideShare were now featuring in people’s priority lists and companies were targeting applications advertising to reach out to more clients on their phones and tablets. “We are also developing a website with iOS and Android Apps, where people can create landing pages and websites by themselves, do A/B spilt testing and get detailed analytics reports on their digital marketing efforts in real time,” he added.

However, The Webspidy MD Avishek Tarafdar said that around 80 per cent of the people in Kolkata use facebook and the remaining 20 per cent use Google ppc. Going by 2013-14 social media trends, mobile/video ads on YouTube/Vimeo were the main platforms. The size of the advertising industry is $7.3 billion in India, of which, digital ad spend is only around six per cent, Tarafdar pointed out.

The Webspidy MD Avishek Tarafdar said that around 80 per cent of the people in Kolkata use facebook and the remaining 20 per cent use Google ppc

Even Bhattacharya was quick to point out the challenges associated with digital advertising. “Making clients understand the lifespan and reach of each campaign and ad can be challenging. While newspaper ads have a lifespan of one day, online ads can be strictly ROI focused if measured properly,” he said.

A media planner said: “Clients only want to spend on print media now. They like TT (The Telegraph) for space in Sunday magazine and pay for three months. But they are not sure what they want to put in that space.”

Another player said on condition of anonymity: “In Kolkata, mid-segment clients do not differentiate between advertising, brand building and propaganda. What most clients do is propaganda and not brand building.”

A third player rued: “To the Kolkata client, it will start only when some Mumbai agency comes and tells them.” A Delhi-based agency felt most Kolkata brands go digital because everyone else is going that way. Yet another source opined that Kolkata clients do not want to take a risk with new methodology until and unless they’re sure about its acceptability even among competitors.

The source added: “Moreover, ad budgets in east Indian cities like Kolkata are less than in Mumbai or Delhi. Besides, Kolkata-based clients are not very clear about SMM marketing. They think they can simply open a FB page and voila… they are doing SMM.”

Worth mentioning here is the initiative by Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) chairman Partha Rakshit, who is working to liaison with Google and Twitter for a tighter monitoring of digital ads. Ads that are in serious breach of the ASCI’s code, and that includes digital ads, will be withdrawn immediately.

So, given this scenario, will digital advertising take flight in Kolkata? It’s something only time will tell…

  • People spend a quarter of their time online on social networking: Experian

People spend a quarter of their time online on social networking: Experian

MUMBAI: Insights from Experian, the global information services company, reveals that if the time spent on the Internet was distilled into an hour then a quarter of it would be spent on social networking and forums across UK, US and Australia. In the UK 13 minutes out of every hour online is spent on social networking and forums, nine minutes on entertainment sites and six minutes shopping.

The figures are similar in the US with 16 minutes spent on social media, nine minutes on entertainment and five minutes on shopping. Australian Internet users spend 14 minutes on social sites, nine on entertainment and four minutes shopping online.

Across all three markets, time spent shopping online grew year-on-year, but the UK emerged as having the most prolific online shoppers, spending proportionally more time on retail websites than online users in North America or Australia. British Internet users spent 10 per cent of all time online shopping in 2012, compared to nine per cent in the US and six per cent in Australia. This was in part due to a bumper Christmas season in the UK where 370 million hours were spent shopping online, 24 per cent higher than the monthly average.

Consumption of news content also increased across all three markets with Australian users emerging as the most voracious consumers of news online. Six per cent of all time spent online in Australia in 2012 was on a news website, compared to five per cent in the UK and four per cent in the US.

Meanwhile, the time spent on social media proportionate to other online activities declined across all three regions. The US, which has been the most dominant market for social media consumption in the last three years dropped from 30 per cent of all time spent online to 27 per cent. In Australia time spent on social dropped from 27 per cent to 24 per cent whilst in the UK it dipped from 25 per cent to 22 per cent year-on-year.

This highlights the rise in access via 3G and 4G networks as consumers spend increasingly more time online while on the move.

Experian Marketing Services digital marketing manager James Murray commented, “The online landscape is constantly changing and we‘ve seen some pretty dramatic shifts in consumer behaviour across different geographic regions and in the various vertical markets.

“Consumers are changing the way they interact online and the rise of 3G and now 4G mobile internet access means more visits are being made on the move, particularly in social and email. As brands become increasingly global entities it‘s more important than ever to understand the differences between regional online behaviours so that marketing campaigns can be tailored for better and more effective brand engagement.”

  • American Swan is PWI’s official lifestyle clothing partner

The brand is the official lifestyle clothing partner for the team this season and the Warriors will be seen wearing co-branded American Swan apparel. This association will be promoted by both partners through their digital properties; their official site and social media channels.

As a part of its social & digital marketing campaign, American Swan will leverage the Pune Warriors association to create a social buzz. American Swan’s customers, Facebook fans and twitter followers will get an opportunity to participate in contests, promos and campaigns on their social media channels and e-commerce website; these will include a chance to meet the IPL franchise’s star players, win passes to their matches and also win signed merchandise.

American Swan director, CEO Anurag Rajpal said, “We are very happy to announce our partnership as the official lifestyle clothing partner of PWI. The brand: its products, brand communication as well as our marketing approach are aimed to connect with the youth and young achievers.”

PWI spokesperson Abhijit Sarkar said, “We had a fair expectation of American Swan brand and products considering their approach to fashion and lifestyle. However, the products, which have been customised for our team by the brand, have truly exceeded our expectations. The brand’s style philosophy goes very well with our team’s spirit.”

American Swan adds that the sales that the brand has witnessed from its own portal as well as through aggregators like Jabong, Myntra, Yebhi, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Homeshop18 is encouraging. Online retail it notes has seen a heavy overlap with social networking and search due to aggressive marketing and strong inclination towards social commerce. This insight has been the driving force behind American Swan opting for Digital Marketing as the primary channel to build the brand as well as drive trials and purchase.

  • FoxyMoron is now in Delhi

MUMBAI: Digital marketing firm FoxyMoron is growing by leaps and bounds as it announced the geographical expansion of its business in the national capital.

Starting with a team of eight to ten people, the Delhi division will be headed by business head Akshay Gurnani, an export from the Mumbai office.

The five year old agency already services clients like McVities in Delhi and is looking at partnering a couple more over the next month or so.

“A major chunk of the out of Mumbai enquiries we get are from Delhi and so it just made sense to start an office there. Also, in a dynamic medium like digital, it is necessary to be present in the city as well. Since Delhi and Mumbai are our core business centres, we decided to we needed to fly to the capital,” explains FoxyMoron director – business development and innovations Pratik Gupta.

Another reason for expanding geographically is to be able to handle competitor brands since the two teams (Mumbai and Delhi) will be working on separate projects.

It‘s actually a kind of double whammy for the fast growing digital agency as it has moved into a new bigger office in Mumbai as well.

So will we be seeing a lot of FoxyMoron offices sprouting across the country? “While we do service clients from all over India (Fosters in Bengaluru and ITC in Kolkata for instance), we intend to manage and service these clients from our hubs in Delhi and Mumbai. We would however like to grow our business offerings over the next 18 months and provides a wider plethora of services to our clients,” informs Gupta.

Some of the verticals that the agency aims to explore over the next year and a half include production (since audio visual is becoming popular in the Indian digital space), activations in the digital medium and online PR.

Considering the rapid spate of digital agency acquisitions that are taking place, one cannot help wonder if FoxyMoron is on the anvil for any such merger. While the agency has been approached by quite a few agency networks, it is yet to find the perfect match. “Let‘s just say we are at a stage where we have nothing to lose and are enjoying our stint. If someone comes along and makes an offer that lucrative and acceptable to our sensibilities, we might take it up. Till then, we‘re flying solo and loving it!” says a confident Gupta.
