upGrad launches campaign for Digital Marketing Job-Linked Bootcamp

Mumbai: Asia’s largest higher edtech company upGrad is back with yet another clutter-breaking digital campaign featuring a seemingly ironic interviewer-interviewee banter. The campaign film, through interesting on-screen chemistry, brings out the efficacy of upGrad’s best-in-class faculty, and the placement strategy it offers under its Digital Marketing Job-Linked Bootcamp, delivering a promising career outcome.

Conceptualised by upGrad’s in-house creative team, the film is produced by Valeum Films and is directed by Manoj Tapadia, who has made ad films for an endless list of brands, notably Dove, Maggi, Dettol, Tata Tea, Havells, Symphony, and HDFC. The film, shot in an office setup, shows a job interview underway that isn’t going the applicant’s way, until he answers a key question that turns the interview – and the hiring manager’s perspective – around.

The six month bootcamp has been developed using upGrad’s extensive industry experience and offers a hands-on curriculum, including 200+ hours of live lectures, introduction to niche digital marketing tools, and 65+ hours of interview preparation and dedicated soft skill development sessions each. Prepared by industry experts for industry roles, the 100 per cent live bootcamp is carefully designed for freshers to assist them land a job with a minimum of Rs 4 lakhs per annum within 150 days of performance-based program completion or an entire fee refund. The move is also set to accelerate India’s growth momentum significantly through an added employment doorway.

Commenting on the campaign, upGrad CEO – India Arjun Mohan said, “Job-Linked Digital Marketing Bootcamp is one of the biggest milestones, we, as a higher edtech leader, have introduced and therefore, it was critical for us to create maximum awareness touchpoints to let our target group and aspiring marketers take an informed career choice. The campaign draws insights from an internal study which highlighted the existing market gap in terms of available jobs. As a result, we realised that freshers and working professionals who aspire to build a career as digital marketers do not have a direct entry point. They have to pursue multiple different job profiles before they actually land the desired job.”

“Young people change the face of any industry. Digital marketing is no different – in fact, it is one of the industries, most prone to be changed by new blood coming in. While earlier, young people usually stumbled into digital marketing, a structured and industry-relevant course like this upGrad Bootcamp, will give prospective marketers a great start to their career, thanks to the veteran faculty teaching it. This was the insight that led to the ad film,” added upGrad head of creative and content marketing – India Shreyas Shevade.

In line with upGrad’s commitment to LifeLongLearning, the program structure also includes 1:1 mentorship opportunity with industry experts, end-to-end support in resume building, interview etiquette, and mock interview sessions, enabling its learners with enhanced career development opportunities.

  • Otrivin’s new initiative turns air pollution into pencils

Otrivin’s new initiative turns air pollution into pencils

Mumabi: Otrivin Breathe Clean has launched a new initiative, “Pollution Capture Pencils,” turning pollution waste by-products into school supplies for local children.

Air pollution is considered the world’s largest environmental health threat, with 98 per cent of children in India breathing toxic air.

The programme promotes the adoption of everyday actions that help reduce the impact of air pollution on children’s breathing health.

For the first phase of this initiative, three schools with the poorest air quality across Bengaluru were identified to partner with. Otrivin Breathe Clean installed twenty-two sustainable and self-cleaning air purifiers across these three schools, in a bid to improve the air quality of approximately one thousand school children every day, in this innovative pilot project.

After two months, these specially designed purifiers, installed both inside and outside the school buildings, had together cleaned over two billion cubic feet of polluted air. The toxic air particles, or ‘pollution residue’ were then gathered to mix with graphite.

This mixture was used as the core of 10,000 pencils, which were specially produced and designed to be distributed by teachers to students for use as tools for multiple interventions to raise funds for the installation of more air purifiers. Otrivin Breathe Clean focused on the solution and transformed the pollution residue into pencils, which will act as instruments of change for the kids.

The pencils, which come in specially designed packs designed by local Bengaluru artist Gautam Datta, reflect the identity and personality of each school and its students.

Haleon Indian subcontinent head of marketing Anurita Chopra said, “We are led by our purpose—to deliver better everyday health to humanity. In order for people to be healthy, they need to be living in a healthy world, which includes having clean air to breathe. However, air pollution is having a catastrophic impact on our ability to breathe clean air, especially amongst children, who perhaps contribute the least to this problem but are affected the most. We hope that the “Pollution Capture Pencils” initiative, as part of Otrivin’s “Actions to Breathe Cleaner” program, inspires people to take simple actions to make the world a better place to live in and breathe. Do watch out for the next chapters of the campaign, wherein we use these pencils to bring forward the expressions of the children to help build awareness as well as help many more to breathe clean.”

Panjurli Labs CEO Ashik SV said, “People all over the world are looking at India as a growing economy, but at the same time I feel India has a huge role to play in terms of helping the global economy. But first, we need to make the children healthy. Through this project, we are trying to ensure the same. The thing I’m happiest about is that every day more and more kids are able to breathe clean air for 6-7 hours per day and that we’re able to protect them during that time.”

  • PMG brings together Tendulkar & Dhoni for new campaign

PMG brings together Tendulkar & Dhoni for new campaign

Mumbai: Professional Management Group has brought together the two cricket legends—Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni—in one campaign.

Launched by the Association of Mutual Funds in India under SEBI’s guidance as a part of its investor awareness outreach program, the “Mutual Funds Sahi Hai” campaign aims to educate the common public about mutual funds and dismiss myths around them.

The AMFI campaign’s aim is to position mutual funds as a preferred investment option for potential investors. PMG finds commonality between financial goals, from taking calculated risks based on a wealth of experience to being aware of surprises from opponents as useful tips in staying a step ahead in matches and making the most of available resources. Hence, the two cricketers make a perfect choice for the campaign creating awareness around mutual funds.

PMG, India’s first sports marketing company, first struck a deal with AMFI in 2020, which included legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The association is now three years old and looks to grow stronger with each passing year.

The AMFI is an association of all the asset management companies of the SEBI-registered mutual funds. The latest “Mutual Fund Sahi Hai” campaign, featuring these two cricket icons, encourages people to start investing in mutual funds through the monthly SIP route for their long-term financial goals, like their children’s future and retirement.

Commenting on the long-term partnership, Sachin Tendulkar said, “It has always been a wonderful experience working with the AMFI team. With every campaign, the aim has been to generate greater awareness about the benefits of investing in mutual funds with a long-term view. This campaign is no different, and we hope to highlight the importance of investing along with saving, which is a crucial message for all.”

Referring to the importance of investing for the long term, M. S. Dhoni explained, “Staying put for the long term is what works best, be it cricket or investments. Mutual fund investments are managed by qualified professionals who have in-depth knowledge of the markets and are backed by years of research. Investing at least some portion of your savings in mutual funds will help you achieve long-term financial goals, is the key message that we are trying to convey with this campaign.”

AMFI chief executive N. S. Venkatesh said, “This is the third year of our association with Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Their contribution to Indian cricket has been exceptional, and people look up to them. Bringing them together for this campaign was a big step towards bringing mutual funds closer to the general public. The response has been great, and we couldn’t have asked for more. We thank PMG for getting this organised for us.”

Professional Management Group COO Melroy D’souza added, “This is a landmark moment for Indian TV as two of the biggest legends from the sporting world come together for a campaign. Both Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni stand for trust, belief, and long-term vision, which are synonymous with AMFI’s campaign vision. We at PMG are thrilled that we managed to get them together and will continue to work on out-of-the-box ideas and create an impact.”

  • PHD India rolls out new campaign for Volkswagen Taigun

PHD India rolls out new campaign for Volkswagen Taigun

Mumbai: PHD India has launched a campaign in partnership with evo India magazine, demonstrating the sheer power of the Volkswagen Taigun and highlighting its one-year journey in a way that has never been done before.

To showcase the SUVW’s distinctive characteristics, sturdiness, and perseverance, PHD India and evo conceptualised the “Border Patrol” campaign, which shines a light on its state-of-the-art features and puts its safety and endurance to the test.

The idea behind the campaign involved taking the Taigun on a challenging and thrilling 579-km journey through the unmapped terrain of the Bharatmala Road in the Rajasthan sector, along the borders of Pakistan. From dusk to dawn, the four variants of the Taigun powered through sandy and snowy routes to reach their final destination, setting a national record in the India Book of Records for the longest drive along the Western border and establishing a high performance and safety benchmark for the segment.

Volkswagen head of marketing Abbey Thomas flagged off the epic event, and the evo India team, led by Sirish Chandran, undertook the journey while Team PHD took on the reins of the marketing strategy.

Speaking about the campaign, PHD Media CEO Monaz Todywalla said, “As challenger brands, both Volkswagen and PHD Media share a highly ambitious mindset, and redefining the status quo is in our DNA. It was an exciting opportunity for us to execute a campaign that draws inspiration from this viewpoint and helps Volkswagen create unparalleled experiences unlike any other.”

Adding to this, Omnicom Media Group chief content officer Shailja Saraswati stated, “Milestones are a terrific moment to spark joy, and as celebrations go, nothing speaks volumes like a stand-out immersive experience that draws audiences in. The Border Patrol campaign is an ode to Volkswagen’s journey in India and captures Taigun’s ‘hustle mode’ with evocative storytelling of heroic stories and pizzazz!”

Volkswagen Passenger Cars India head of marketing and PR Abbey Thomas said, “The Volkswagen Taigun is one of our most admired models by virtue of being the first SUVW made with love in India for the Indian market. Our goal is to stay true to our roots and create a slick SUV built on the core DNA of the Volkswagen brand. The hustle that could take on the most challenging terrains in India with ease while delivering the highest level of safety and comfort. To showcase its capabilities and celebrate its first anniversary, we needed to go the extra mile and do something out of the ordinary. Thanks to PHD Media and evo India, we delivered an experience that is off the beaten track and puts the spotlight on the unmatched endurance and performance of the Volkswagen Taigun.”

evo India editor Sirish Chandran said, “Our partnership with Volkswagen and PHD India enabled us to carry out a thrilling campaign that we were glad to be a part of. Having the opportunity to do something we had never done before was an exciting prospect in itself. Undertaking such a challenging but exciting journey and setting a new national record in the process was an experience unlike any other. We knew it was not going to be easy, but the Taigun’s capabilities on the road far exceeded our expectations and made it an unforgettable journey unlike any other.”

  • Cadbury Bournvita unveils new campaign ‘Faith Not Force’

Cadbury Bournvita unveils new campaign ‘Faith Not Force’

Mumbai: Cadbury Bournvita has launched a new campaign film, titled “Faith, Not Force,” with a strong reminder for society to recognise and nurture every child’s individual potential.

Conceptulised by Ogilvy Mumbai, the campaign is a movement that aims to enlighten parents to take notice of their children’s true talent instead of forcing them into preset career moulds. It is supported by a high-decibel 360-degree marketing campaign, including print activations, partnerships with leading social media platforms, and influencer engagement.

As a society, we’ve always dictated what our kids’ futures should be. Even though we have their best interests at heart, we force our kids towards a particular profession, often ignoring their natural inclination and talent.

And to demonstrate this in a manner that registers and drives the point home, the brand has decided to do something audacious. It transformed the iconic Bournvita Jar, found in every household, and forced the jars to become something they weren’t destined to be—a toilet cleaner jar, an egg box, a tissue paper box, a glass cleaner bottle, a ketchup bottle, a soap box, a cooking oil bottle. These jars contain Bournvita powder inside them but don’t look like the Bournvita jars they were meant to be.

The intent is to shock consumers when they reach out for the iconic Bournvita jar at shopping aisles and our direct-to-consumer website and notice these strange-looking packs, to help them draw a parallel to situations when children are also forced to follow a predetermined path that may work for others but may not be true to the child’s individual potential.

The Bournvita Forced Packs are available at select Star Bazaar outlets as well as online. By bringing these jars home and sharing their pledge, parents can demonstrate that they, too, are opposed to forcing children and support “FaithNotForce.”

For the launch, Cadbury Bournvita has partnered with Star Bazaar to feature the shocking avatar of jars in select stores and capture shoppers’ reactions in real-time.

Commenting on the campaign, Mondelez India GCBM director of marketing Vikasdeep Katyal said, “Over the last seven decades, Cadbury Bournvita has successfully built a strong bond with parents by delivering on nutritional needs. While society continues to view career options as having a narrow range, we recognised the need to encourage parents to relieve themselves of the burden of passing on the same career choices to their children. Our idea is built on the simple premise of not overlooking a child’s true potential, and we are confident that the innovation in terms of the packaging will help parents take notice of the campaign along with the “FaithNotForce” pledge on www.thebournvitastore.in. We sincerely hope to gain support in our attempt towards instilling faith and celebrating every child’s uniqueness.”

Speaking on the thought-provoking campaign, Ogilvy India chief creative officers Harshad Rajadhyaksha and Kainaz Karmakar said, “It took a long time and many test runs before we could get this project to the floor. Right from idea to execution, our creative team, Akshay Seth and Chinmay Raut, and the larger Bournvita team at Ogilvy have spared no effort. From the birth of the idea to planning the campaign ecosystem, designing the packs and e-commerce page, it has been an exciting journey. When people around saw the idea, the emotions it evoked was all the proof we needed, that we’ve hit upon a truth that needs to be told. Forced packs is an intervention; to stop pushing our ambitions onto our children.”

  • Agoda ropes in Rashmika Mandanna to launch first ad film in India

Agoda ropes in Rashmika Mandanna to launch first ad film in India

Mumbai: Agoda has launched its first-ever digital ad in India, featuring popular actress Rashmika Mandanna. The campaign film was launched on Facebook and YouTube on 7 November.

The campaign is designed by McCann Worldgroup. The agency leveraged their deep cultural understanding of evolving India to create a concept that resonates with families throughout the country.

The ad film addresses pain points faced by many when trying to plan a family holiday. It features a lighthearted reenactment of classic Bollywood scenes while highlighting the difficulties in incorporating everyone’s needs into the final destination decision process.

The ad messaging seeks to focus on the ease of planning and booking travel on Agoda’s hassle-free platform and app. This campaign has the theme, “Holiday Bookings? No more drama” encourages travellers to try Agoda, and is part of its growing focus on the India market, following successful influencer campaigns across the country over the last year.

In a nod to real life’s obsession with capturing everything on camera, the ad opens with Mandanna in a home setting surrounded by her “reel” family, trying hard to book a vacation that satisfies everyone’s needs.

Her family is seen debating over different aspects of the vacation and their personal preferences, including affordability, activities, spacious rooms, and free breakfast, among others. Over the top and quirky personalities that mimic relatable characters Indians have grown up watching—a mother with a thali in her hand, brothers dressed like bickering warriors, and a father “balancing the books” or “holding the purse strings”—are saved with the help of Mandanna using the Agoda app to find solutions to their woes.

Agoda senior vice president of marketing Matteo Frigerio explained, “India is a dynamic market and one where we have seen real growth for our accommodation and flight products. We want to connect more with Indian travellers and partners alike, and we hope this collaboration with Mandanna will reflect the fun side of our brand, endearing us to Indian customers in a memorable and relatable way. The ad strikes a chord because it weaves in the real-life dilemmas faced by many people booking a family getaway, while working with Mandanna gives Agoda added authenticity and profile to reach new audiences in India.”

Speaking on the partnership, Mandanna said, “I love to set off on new adventures whenever my filming schedule permits, and I need a travel app that lets me plan those trips easily. When travelling with family or friends, as I’m sure many people can relate, you want to make sure everyone is happy and their needs are met, but it can take a lot of back and forth to make that happen perfectly! I loved Agoda’s approach to this ad, which played on those real-life dilemmas in a fun and engaging way. We had fun filming in a Bollywood-esque style with me as the heroine who manages to use the Agoda app to find a holiday spot that suits my macho ‘brothers’ need for a gym, my ‘mother’s’ request for free breakfasts and of course my ‘dad’s’ desire for great value deals. I am thrilled to have partnered with Agoda for their first-ever digital ad in India, and hope you #TryAgoda while planning your next trip.”

  • See how every app is advertising for Cadbury 5 Star for free!

See how every app is advertising for Cadbury 5 Star for free!

Mumbai: Cadbury 5 Star has taken its famous tagline “Do Nothing” a notch higher. While other brands spend a fortune on deploying ads and in-app banners during the festive season, Cadbury 5 Star has reduced its budget to zero and declared that it can now “do nothing” to advertise.

That’s because the brand has simplified its logo into a graphic of five stars. Now every time any app asks for a rating, the five blank stars on the app screen will resemble the new 5-star logo, which means every app will end up advertising for the product without even intending to. As a result, the brand is now visible across apps without the need to spend or do anything.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy, the one-of-a-kind “#5StarsEverywhere” campaign cuts through the noise of regular, high-budget promotional activities by deftly playing on what the brand does best: innovate.

Ratings have become an integral part of all D2C services, from food and grocery delivery to audio books and online shopping. Executing yet another brave idea, Cadbury 5 Star jumped at this opportunity and made itself synonymous with ratings across the board, essentially hijacking every app platform and smartly turning it around to be an ad for the chocolate.

With their new logo now present all over the internet, the brand now plans to hijack other mediums for free advertising over the coming weeks, by leveraging this crazy approach.

Speaking about this creative advertising, Mondelez India vice president of marketing Nitin Saini said, “With every subsequent Cadbury 5 Star campaign, we have strived to do something out of the box while shining a spotlight on the “Do Nothing” proposition. As a youth-centric brand, all our recent efforts were aimed to resonate with the current generation, from NothingCoin to our Valentine’s Day alibi campaign, “My Cousin’s Wedding.” Now with “#5StarsEverywhere,” the goal is to get consumers to engage with the brand in the most inventive way possible. By simply tweaking our logo, the brand has created waves by investing next to nothing in advertising and still gaining maximum eyeballs across almost every app. Steering away from the quintessential way of promoting, Cadbury 5 Star adds a fresh perspective by relaxing and leveraging the five-star review on the apps to spread the sweet message, “Do Nothing.””

Talking about the unique concept, Ogilvy India chief creative officer Sukesh Nayak said, “Cadbury 5 Star believes in the philosophy of “Doing Nothing.” To solidify this idea in young minds, we conceptualised a smart hack with “#5StarEverywhere.” This is a disruptive app takeover idea that maximises partnerships by ensuring that 5 Star’s brand logo integration happens effortlessly across apps that have a rating mechanism. In the festive season, when brands bombard consumers with thousands of branded ads, we cleverly redesigned the 5 Star wrapper to mimic the “ratings” sections that are present across most apps and subliminally turned them into ads for 5 Star. So now anyone who sees an app rating page will think of Cadbury 5 Star. Yes, you will see a 5 Star literally everywhere. The list goes across platforms, service categories, languages, and countries. What adds to the fun, thanks to our ingenious idea, is that the brand will be literally everywhere and be part of fun conversations by doing nothing beyond the regular media budget.”

The final score of bagged candies in 20 seconds can be discovered by switching to their front camera. As a bonus, a prompt urges the users to open the mouth and a Pulse candy drops in, triggering a Chatkara Pop sound effect and a visual experience of the tangy burst of Pulse candy, triggering a change in the player’s facial expression on the screen, like the widening of eyes and arching of eyebrows, followed by a celebratory bursting animation sequence behind and the final score showing at the bottom centre of the screen.

Speaking on the launch, Dharampal Satyapal Foods general manager of marketing Arvind Kumar said, “We are thankful to our consumers for making Pulse a leader in the hard boiled candy segment for the last five years, and therefore, Candy Day is very special to us. The launch of Immuno+ marks an important milestone for Supradyn which in its six-decade-long rich legacy has been helping consumers make self-care more accessible.”

Talking about the campaign, Bayer Consumer Health India marketing and digital head Ritu Mittal commented, “Timeless natural immunity boosters like tulsi (holy basil) and turmeric have been long known to us Indians as our go-to home remedy. With its rich anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, the power of these natural ingredients when combined with science can help boost one’s immunity. Rooted in this insight, Supradyn’s new campaign for Immnuo+ lays emphasis on the brand’s role in enhancing one’s daily and long-term immunity needs, thus encouraging consumers to add Supradyn Immuno+ to their daily diet for 100 per cent immunity confidence.”

Speaking of the creative side, Lowe Lintas executive director Tasneem Ali said, “We are delighted to be a part of the launch of Supradyn’s Immuno+, a milestone that brings to light a timely conversation around boosting immunity in a simple yet memorable form. Our take on the brief from the get-go was to create a campaign that not only educates our audiences but also gives them a first-hand solution. The light-hearted film will make the consumer stop and reflect on ways to achieve 100 per cent immunity confidence.”

The campaign film showcases how people have grown more conscious towards boosting immunity in a post pandemic era. The mere idea of taking booster shots daily might sound bizarre, but when combined with the power of nature and science, one Supradyn Immuno+ with your daily diet can help enhance one’s immunity.
