    Isobar bags creative and digital mandate for four Diageo India brands

    MUMBAI: Isobar India, the digital agency from the house of Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN), has been appointed as the creative and digital partner for Diageo India. Being India’s leading beverage alcohol company, Diageo houses an outstanding collection of premium brands that includes Johnnie Walker, Black Dog, Black & White, Vat 69, Antiquity, Signature, Royal Challenge, McDowell's No 1, Smirnoff and Captain Morgan.

    Isobar India won the account following a multi-agency pitch and will manage the duties out of its Bengaluru office. As per the mandate, Isobar India will manage integrated communications for Diageo's Antiquity and Captain Morgan, along with the digital duties for Signature and Royal Challenge.

    Bengaluru: While the whole world awaits the New Year 2020, McDowell’s No.1 Soda Yaari Jam Originals brings in the Punjabi sensation – Guru Randhawa and popular music producer Vee to wish their fans A Happy New Yaar by releasing the next originals – ‘Yaari’ – that has crossed over 20 million within 24 hours of release. The past year being an extremely successful one for all the originals launched by the brand with renowned artists like Sunidhi Chauhan, Anupam Roy, Tanishk Bagchi, Darshan Raval and Jonita Gandhi. This new track gets the yaars to come together to welcome the new year with a fresh start and a new self!

    The original has been written and composed by Guru Randhawa while Vee gave music to it. With this foot tapping track Guru brings alive the emotion of celebrating a new you and with that a new yaar who has overcome the failures, heartbreaks and unfulfilled dreams of the previous year. The music video directed by Gifty has been produced by McDowell’s No. 1 Soda in collaboration with Hungama Digital Media Entertainment.

    Diageo enters e-alcohol space with Rs 270 mn investment in HipBar

    MUMBAI: Diageo India, the country’s leading beverage alcohol group, through its legal entity United Spirits has made an equity investment in HipBar, a payment technology start-up that serves the needs of the beverage alcohol industry and its consumers, through a mobile wallet and delivery app.

    Diageo has acquired a 26 per cent equity stake in HipBar for Rs 270 million.

    Diageo India is committed to transforming the beverage alcohol industry and with this investment, the company will support HipBar’s digital ambition and help expand its footprint across more markets. HipBar unlocks the industry’s need to provide better experiences, promote responsible consumption and digitally connect brands, retail stores and consumers through a common digital platform.

    With the HipBar app, age verified consumers can browse a range of alcoholic beverages, select a brand of their choice and pay through the mobile wallet to have the product delivered at their doorstep (where permitted) or pick it up from a retail store at their convenience.

    HipBar has developed a stringent age verification process as well as highly compliant standard operating procedures to ensure that the company’s delivery service fosters a safe drinking environment in India.

    On the B2B front, HipBar works closely with the beverage alcohol industry and the government to custom build software and deploy technology projects that will help the category to move forward in a compliant and sustainable manner. 

    Some of these digital initiatives include last mile alcohol delivery platform, SaaS based e-governance module for use by governments, HipBar point-of-sale for standalone licenced retail stores and HipBar Pay for government controlled retail stores.

    MUMBAI: At the board meeting of The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) held after the AGM on Thursday, the former vice-chairman of Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) Abanti Sankaranarayanan was unanimously elected as the chairman of the board of ASCI.

    Sankaranarayanan, who is also the chief strategy and corporate affairs officer at Diageo India, and member of its executive committee, said, “It’s heartening to see ASCI’s relentless efforts being recognised by the judicial body, regulators and government bodies and we shall take all efforts to continue to keep it so.”

    She added: “Core to ASCI’s mission to ensure protection of the interests of consumers, through supporting fairness in advertising, ASCI shall carry on to keep true with its consumer focused tagline, “So you can trust advertising.”
