    Zee Telugu to premiere dubbed version of Hotel Mumbai on 26 April

    MUMBAI: Zee Telugu will have the world television premiere of the dubbed version of the film Hotel Mumbai in the Telugu Language. The movie will be broadcasted on Sunday, 26 April at 1:00 pm.

    More than a decade on, Hotel Mumbai is the cinematic re-creation of the 26/11 terror carnage that shook Mumbai in 2008, focusing on the terrorist attack inside the iconic Taj Mahal Hotel.

    The film has been directed by Anthony Maras, produced by Thunder Road Pictures and distributed by Zee Studios in India. The film stars Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi and Anupam Kher among others.

    The story revolves around a chef at the hotel, Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher), and a hotel steward, Arjun (Dev Patel), who put themselves in unimaginable risk to save the lives of the frightened guests at the hotel, whilst the militants are on a rampage inside the hotel.

    MUMBAI:  IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the launch of its new Pilot’s Watches with an exclusive gala evening at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva. Around 800 guests had the chance to admire a true icon of British aviation – the Spitfire – and ring in the year of Pilot’s Watches together with IWC. Among them were numerous prominent brand ambassadors of the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer such as Bradley Cooper, Rosamund Pike, Dev Patel, Adriana Lima, James Marsden, Karolina Kurkova, and Sonam Kapoor.

    This week at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva, IWC Schaffhausen unveiled its new Spitfire, TOP GUN and “Le Petit Prince” models. This year, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer invited the international IWC family and guests to come together at an exclusive gala evening to live the dream of flying.

    The first of many highlights of the evening came when a real Spitfire landed spectacularly on site. Out strode British pilot Matt Jones, who intends to take off on a round-the-world trip in the Silver Spitfire next summer, starting in Goodwood, England.

    IWC is supporting the ‘Silver Spitfire − The Longest Flight’ project as its main sponsor. Musical highlights were provided by successful Icelandic quartet Kaleo, who performed some of their best-known hits such as ‘Way down we go’ as well as IWC‘s very own house band who came together especially for the evening.

    MUMBAI: After adding 271 people last year, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sent out invitations to more than 300 people this year to be their new members, including actors Eddie Redmayne, Emma Stone and Dev Patel. The new invitees were from Oscar winners, nominees, and other notable names in the industry.

     

    Eddie Redmayne’s role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything not only won him the best actor award, but also saved him a member’s place in the Academy. Others include Emma Stone, who was nominated for best supporting actress for her performance in Birdman; rapper Common who grabbed best original song for his Selma soundtrack; and Dev Patel, whose film Slumdog Millionaire won eight Oscars in 2009.

     

    In the music category, the All Of Me singer, John Legend who collaborated with Common in the Selma theme song Glory has also made it to the list of invitees. Another new member in the music branch is Nine Inch Nails’ vocalist Trent Reznor who scored David Fincher’s Gone Girl.

     

    Other actors in the new list include Elizabeth Banks, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Tom Hardy, Kevin Hart, Felicity Jones, David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Chris Pine, Daniel Radcliffe, Jason Segel and JK Simmons.

     

    The new directors who join this year’s invitees are James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 6), Edgar Wright (The World’s End), and Joe Wright (Anna Karenina).

    Sony Classical to release OST of ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’

    MUMBAI: The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is the second installment of the star-studded British comedy that follows a group of British retirees who decide to spice up their lives in India. In theaters on 6 March, 2015, the sequel is once again directed by John Madden, best known for his acclaimed movies Shakespeare In Love (Academy Award winner for Best Picture, 1998), Proof (based on the eponymous Pulitzer Prize winning play, 2005) and The Debt. The first film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel proved to be an international success, grossing over $136 million worldwide.

     

    The cast has reunited for the film including stars Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel, Celia Imrie, Penelope Wilton, Ronald Pickup, Tina Desai, Diana Hardcastle and Lillete Dubey. Additional cast making their debut include Tamsin Greig, with David Strathairn and Richard Gere. 

     

    The soundtrack for The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel will be made available on 24 February, 2015 via Sony Classical. Thomas Newman, one of the most respected composers in the movie industry, has once again composed the original score. With a career spanning over 30 years, Newman has scored more than 70 feature films. Newman has thus far been nominated for 12 Academy Awards and has won an Emmy Award, two BAFTA Awards and six Grammy Awards.

     

    Newman has composed the scores for films like American Beauty, Skyfall, Erin Brockovich, The Good German, Finding Nemo and Wall-E for Pixar as well as The Horse Whisperer, The Help and The Iron Lady.

     

    Newman’s vibrant and inspirational score for The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, masterfully evokes the Indian musical textures and ensures an elegant and delightful musical journey.

     

    “Tom’s ability to penetrate the soul of a film is unmatched; In the two Marigold films, Tom’s group of collaborators expanded to include some extraordinary Indian players and vocal soloists, creating a musical and cultural synthesis that has produced two ravishing and interlocking scores: atmospheric, surprising, thrilling, funny, haunting and entirely sui generis,” says director John Madden.

    Dev Patel to star in ‘Lion’ with Nicole Kidman

    MUMBAI: The Slumdog Millionaire actor Dev Patel has been finalised to star with Nicole Kidman in the new The Weinstein Company drama Lion.

     

    The drama, based on the memoir ‘A Long Way Home’ by Saroo Brierley, follows a street kid from Calcutta (Patel) who is taken in and adopted by a couple in Australia.

     

    Garth Davis, who co-directed the Golden Globe-winning miniseries ‘Top of the Lake’ with Jane Campion, is set to helm the movie while Luke Davies, the screenwriter on Anton Corbijn’s upcoming Life, adapted the book for the screen.

     

    In addition to Lion, Patel plays self-taught Indian math genius Srinivasa Ramanujan in Matt Brown’s period drama The Man Who Knew Infinity. He will also star in Lionsgate’s Soviet-era thriller Child 44 and The Road Within, a remake of the hit German dramedy Vincent Wants to Sea.

     

    Patel also appears in John Madden’s upcoming The Second Best Marigold Hotel, the sequel to the 2011 hit, which Fox Searchlight will release in the US next year.

     

    It was earlier believed that Hugh Jackman would also star in the film, but as per media reports, the actor has denied any connection to the project.

    Dev Patel to star in film on honour killings in India

    MUMBAI: Dev Patel, who came to the limelight with Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, has been signed to play the lead role in Bill Bennett directed thriller Defiant, based on the true story of double honour killings in India.

    Based on true events and set in India, the film tells the story of two young lovers from different backgrounds on the run from their parents who want to kill them as inter caste and inter-religion marriages are considered taboo in India.

    The 22-year-old actor will star opposite Toni Colette in the film in which he will play one of the lovers on the run.

    Colette, an Emmy-winning journalist, follows them for a story but ends up risking her life to save the young lovers.

    The film is being produced by Bennett and Australia-based Anupam Sharma. The shooting of the film will begin in North India by late October.

    The Little Film Company, which is handling the international sales of the movie, will introduce the project to foreign buyers for the first time in Cannes next month.

    The film will be Patel‘s third project based on an Indian story after Slumdog Millionaire and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
