    RB appoints McCann World Group for Dettol in India

    MUMBAI: RB (formerly called Reckitt Benckiser), a consumer health, hygiene and home company has appointed McCann World Group India as the creative agency for Dettol.

     

    The account is on a project basis. Havas WW will continue to be the Agency of Record on Dettol in India and globally.

     

    Dettol has been consistently voted by Indian consumers as one of the most trusted brands for over a decade. With a legacy of more than 80 years, it has become the trusted champion of health. The development is in line with the ambition of Dettol to further strengthen communication across its portfolio in India.

     

    RB advertises in almost 60 markets around the globe. Dettol, is its iconic brand, which promises to ‘Be 100 per cent sure’, its tagline in the TV ads.

     

    Available as bar soap, liquid hand wash, hand sanitiser and of course, as an antiseptic liquid, Dettol, recently forayed into the dishwasher detergent segment with the launch of its Healthy Kitchen Gel.

    Shruti Varma to head Tata Docomo business at Contract

    MUMBAI: Shruti Varma joins Contract Advertising as senior vice president and will be heading the Tata Docomo account for the agency.

     

    A highly experienced FMCG advertising professional, Varma joins Contract from Havas Worldwide where she spent close to eight years and was heading the Reckitt Benckiser account for India and recently, the south east Asian market besides many successful campaigns and product launches.

     

    Varma will be reporting to Contract Delhi senior VP & GM Shivaji Dasgupta who while announcing Varma’s appointment said, “Contract has always been a melting pot of great talent and Shruti is a very welcome addition to the pool. She has the right blend of strategic acumen and operational mastery to be a highly successful business leader for us. I am certain she will have a long and fruitful innings with Contract.”

     

    Besides Reckitt Benckiser, Varma has also worked on Dabur, during her stint at Bates for over three years. A Delhi University alumnus, she started her career in research with IMRB, before choosing advertising as her career.

     

    “I have worked on leader brands and I have worked on challenger brands. And I think I have contributed in meaningful ways in turning some challenger brands into leader brands. And that’s what’s exciting about our business. I hope that together with the amazing talent at Contract, I would help do the same for TATA Docomo. The challenges will be many. But then, what’s Advertising without a little adrenaline rush,” said Varma on her appointment at Contract.

     

    During her tenure at Havas, Shruti has worked on key brands such as Dettol, Veet, Harpic, Mortien, Lizol, Airwick, Vanish, Moov, Strepsils amongst others.

    Reckitt Benckiser to launch a campaign for the youth

    MUMBAI: Health and personal care company, Reckitt Benckiser, is launching a campaign to create awareness amongst graduates and people early on in their business careers.

    The company that owns brands such as Dettol and Mortien said the aim of the campaign is not to sell more products but to sell the company to people who are planning a career in fast moving consumer goods.

    The campaign will be primarily on-line and on-campus. Reckitt Benckiser uses gaming technology on mobile and Internet to reach people in nine markets across all continents. The company had also launched a “poweRBrands” game last year, which enabled players to go into consumer goods company and rise to become global president.

    The campaign is aim to engage student, professional and sports communities online and offline. Reckitt Benckiser will also deploy its brands – Durex, Clearasil, Veet and others – to connect with people and deliver engaging campaigns on campus.

    Chairman and managing director Chander Mohan Sethi says, “Reckitt Benckiser’s culture is very different to most organisations. We only suit people who like freedom to act, a fast pace, enough exposure to make their mark and who are deeply commercial and agile.     Ravi and Jacob to head Meridian Bengaluru’s creative function

    MUMBAI: Meridian Bengaluru has roped in Ravikumar C and Manoj Jacob to head its creative function. The duo, who assumed office on 1 March, bring in 12 years of industry experience with them.
     
    After joining Euro RSCG Delhi in 2009 as an art-copy team, they later moved to its Mumbai office to head the art department. Last month, both of them had resigned as creative directors.
     
    At Euro, the team worked on various brands including Dettol, Lyzol, Baskin-Robbins and Colin, and also played an important role at the launch campaign of INQ Mobile phones in India.
     
    Previously, they were with Ogilvy Bengaluru, Meridian‘s parent agency.
