    Amazon, Wipro enter top 5 in BARC advertiser data week 34

    MUMBAI: It was an interesting week 34. A lot of positions changed, newer brands in the top list and some that topped last week, were out from the eminent list.

    The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has released its data for last week’s top advertisers and brands between 18 August to 24 August 2018.

    The data is a reflection of top 10 advertiser and brands across genre on Indian television (U+R) : 2+ Individuals.

    The data demonstrates ads that were inserted the most in week 34 of 2018.

    Top Advertisers:

    Nothing much has changed this week in the advertising domain on television as most advertisers retained their last week’s position.

    For week 33, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) retained its position as the top advertiser and led with 158242 ad insertions on television. HUL’s products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents, personal care products and water purifiers.

    Reckitt Benckiser Ltd, maker of Dettol, Veet, Durex condoms, Strepsils, Air Wick, Harpic retained its last week’s second position with 86768 ad insertions.

    Kolkata based ITC Ltd was at third position this week with 45703 ad insertions. ITC has a diversified business that includes fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), hotels, paperboards and packaging, agri business and information technology.

    This was followed by Dairy Milk manufacturer Cadbury India with 28107 ad insertions

    FMCG company Wipro entered the top 5 advertisers list after a hiatus of several months. Wipro inserted its ads 25650 times in week 33.

    Top Brands:

    The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that been in the top two list for last few weeks, didn’t make it in the top 10 most advertised brand this week.

    Santoor sandal and turmeric soap retained its last week’s top position and was advertised the most in week 33 with 14085 ad insertions.

    E-commerce major Amazon entered the top 5 list to become the second most advertised brand ahead of the festive season with 12873 ad insertions.

    Toilet cleaner Harpic, from the house of Reckitt Benckiser entered the top 5 list and became the third most advertised brand with 11992 ad insertions followed by policybazaar.com with 11891 ad insertions.

    The state of Kerala that was heavily flooded over the last few weeks saw help coming in from all sectors and stature of people. Brands, networks, broadcasters, all came in with a lending hand to help the victims start a new life and raise donations. Star India collaborated with various actors to announce the help and urge people to join in and donate for #AllForKerala.

    The initiative ended up making Star network the fifth most advertised on television screens with ad insertions of 11138.

    MUMBAI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has released its data for last week’s top advertisers and brands between 11 August to 17 August 2018.

    The data is a reflection of top 10 advertiser and brands across genre on Indian television (U+R) : 2+ Individuals.

    The data demonstrates ads that were inserted the most in week 33 of 2018.

    Top Advertisers:

    Nothing really changed this week in the advertising domain on television as most advertisers retained their last week’s position.

    For week 32, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) retained its position as the top advertiser and led with 141492 ad insertions on television. HUL’s products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents, personal care products and water purifiers.

    Reckitt Benckiser Ltd, maker of Dettol, Veet, Durex condoms, Strepsils, Air Wick, Harpic retained its last week’s second position with 89404 ad insertions.

    Kolkata based ITC Ltd was at third position this week with 59253 ad insertions. This was followed by Dairy Milk manufacturer Cadbury India, that moved up a step and stood at fourth position this week with 32407 ad insertions.

    Procter & Gamble moved down from its last week’s number four position and became the fifth most advertised brand with 30007 ads. ITC has a diversified business that includes Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), hotels, paperboards and packaging, agri business and information technology.

    Top Brands:

    Cleaning and disinfecting product Lizol that topped the charts last week and was the most advertised brand, didn’t make it in the top 10 most advertised brand this week.

    Santoor sandal and turmeric soap jumped from its week 31’s second position, was advertised the most in week 32 with a startling 13587 ad insertions.

    The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that been in the top two list for last few weeks, regained its position and became the second most advertised brand this week with 10699 ad insertions.

    Hotel searching website, Trivago that was missing in week 31 for most advertised brand, attained third position in week 33 with 10486 ad insertions. Trivago that seemed to be loosing its momentum on television screens dipping ad insertions, is getting back on screen with increased ad insertions.

    Reckitt Benckiser’s Dettol Liquid soap retained its last week fourth position with 9487 ad insertions followed by Colgate Dental Cream, a product by Hindustan Unilever Limited with 9271 ad insertions.

    MUMBAI: The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India has released its data for last week’s top advertisers and brands between 4 August to 10 August 2018.

    The data is a reflection of top 10 advertiser and brands across genre on Indian television (U+R): 2+ Individuals. It demonstrates ads that were inserted the most in week 32 of 2018. 

    Top Advertisers: 

    For week 32, Hindustan Unilever Ltd retained its position as the top advertiser and led with 137938 ad insertions on television. HUL’s products include foods, beverages, cleaning agents, personal care products and water purifiers.

    Reckitt Benckiser Ltd, maker of Dettol, Veet, Durex condoms, Strepsils, Air Wick, Harpic among others jumped to second position with 112004 ad insertions as last week.

    Kolkata based ITC Ltd moved a position down with 54110 ad insertions followed by Procter & Gamble with 36058 ads. ITC has a diversified business that includes Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), hotels, paperboards and packaging, agribusiness and information technology.

    Dairy Milk manufacturer Cadbury India entered the top five list and stood at fifth position this week with 32363 ad insertions.

    Top Brands:

    Cleaning and disinfecting product Lizol was advertised the most and topped the charts with 16924 ad insertions in week 31. Lizol entered the top 5 brands list after a hiatus of a week where it stood at number three in week 30.

    Santoor sandal and turmeric soap jumped from its week 31’s third position, to become the second most advertised brand in week 32 with a startling 13916 ad insertions.

    The Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare that been in the top two list for last few weeks, dipped a position down and became the third most advertised brand this week with 12941 ad insertions. 

    Reckitt Benckiser had two products from its umbrella from the house of Dettol enter into the list of top five most advertised brand. While Dettol Liquid soap retained the fourth position with12810 ad insertions, Dettol cool soap had 11463 ad insertions in week 32.

    BENGALURU: The annual ‘Big Billion Day’ and ‘Great Indian Festival sale’ will be back soon – and the respective players are quite noisy about them on television. Innovative creatives, rehashes of previous creatives are back to announce the big great deals that will be on offer. Flipkart’s annual Big Billion Day television communication has newer stories from kids acting as adults while Amazon.in speaks of getting big discounts without the effort of having to check out the best deals in the market to promote its Great Indian Festival sale.

    The festival season in India is approaching, and, along with it offers from eCommerce players and jewellers. As decibels increase for attracting eyeballs and consumers, brands from these two genres are amongst the most advertised on television during the recent weeks according to Broadcast Audience Research Council of India (BARC) weekly data.

    In week 35 of 2017, (Saturday, 26th August 2017 to Friday, 1 September 2017), Amazon.in was the most advertised brand on television with 14,985 insertions and LalithaJewelly was the second most advertised brand with 13,856 insertions according to BARC’s weekly list ofTop 10 Brands Across Genre: All India (U+R) : 2+ Individuals. In week 36 (Saturday, 2 September 2017 to Friday, 8 September 2017), Lalitha Jewellery was the most advertised brand on television with a jaw-dropping 16,301 insertions followed by Amazon.in with 11,329 insertions at second place. Not far behind these two at rank 3 was Indian eCommerce player Flipkart.com with 11,900 and 10,130 insertions in weeks 35 and 36 respectively.

    Both Amazon.in and Lalitha Jewellery have been present 15 times each during the first 36 weeks of 2017 in BARC’s weekly top 10 brands list. Of these, Amazon.in has been the most advertised brand for eight weeks, including during the first three weeks of 2017. Lalitha Jewellers has been the most advertised brand on television in terms of insertions for five of the first 36 weeks of 2017. Flipkart.com found itself in BARC’s weekly top 10 brands list for the first time in week 35 of 2017 and again in week 36 of 2017, as the third most advertised brand in terms of insertions during both the weeks.

    While FMCG brands are the most advertised brands in general, as September 20 approaches viewers are likely to be bombarded with more and more eCommere ads.The period of Navratra’s and Diwali are considered as auspicious days for buying gold, automobiles, apparel, consumer durables, etc., by many Indians. Data for the most advertised brands over the next few weeksshould be quite interesting.

     

  • Dettol campaign for 26k villages to be ‘open defecation-free’ by ’18

    MUMBAI: RB (formerly known as Reckitt Benckiser) in collaboration with Jagran Pehel, in its endeavour to strengthen the prime minister’s ‘Swachh Bharat Mission,’ marked the success of their 1st phase of activation in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, reaching out to 200 villages and 85,205 households. The 2nd Phase would target 26,032 villages and 14,712,453 households across seven Indian states of UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh covering 25 districts and three cities.

    The BSI Campaign in the second phase will focus on mentoring Swachh Bharat Fellows who will provide support to districts in smooth implementing and monitoring of the mission They would work closely with faith based leaders, mothers, care givers, municipal cleaners on behavioural Change Communication and also initiate citizen movement for human to human connect. The Campaign which was launched in 2015, has been successful in reaching out to 100% of its target and has successfully mobilised around 13000 change leaders in communities.

    The announcement was made in Lucknow at the completion of 1st phase of “’Changing Behaviour, Creating Sanitation Change Leaders programme”in association with Jagran Pehel. The event brought together leaders and policy makers from Global Interfaith WASH Alliance, WHO, UNICEF, World Toilet Organisation and other organisations associated with Dettol Banega Swachh India to share best practices and grassroots solutions that can be implemented to achieve ‘Open Defecation-Free’ status.

    Chief Guest Surya Pratap Shahi, Cabinet Minister for Agriculture, Agriculture Education and Agricultural Research launched the Impact Assessment Report that embodies behaviour change strategies adopted, activities undertaken, success stories and impact created through public-private participation during the first year of the project.

    Kasthuri to air grand finale of ‘Chinnadha Bete’ on 21 November

    BENGALURU:  8 pm, Friday, 21 November will be a day when it will rain gold on the participants at grand finale of the flagship show of Kasthuri TV – Chinnadha Bete (Gold Hunting). During the three hours, winners from a bevy of celebrities, film stars, television artistes and the general public who made it to the finals of each week as well as four people selected by the lucky draw will vie for 100 grams of gold or settle for second best with 50 grams of the noble metal.

     

    Kasthuri TV has done well to rope in Sudarshan Jewellers as title sponsors and big brands as programme sponsors. These include Lake, TVS, Castro, Pantene, Dettol, Santoor, besides a host of advertisers for the show, reveal sources at the channel.

     

    Chinnadha Bete, a home grown production, has been the top performing show in Kasthuri TV’s kitty and has managed to reach respectable ratings in the Kannada GEC space that has had big games shows like the Kannada editions of KBC and Bigg Boss on air.

     

    Chinnadha Bete is a game show for female participants with a difference. It runs Monday to Friday every week for 90 minutes during primetime. Each week different tasks or contests as well as the luck of the draw help select the winner. In all, this season will clock 65 episodes including the grand finale to be aired this Friday.

     

    Some of the tasks and contests include Joker Game, Pool Board Game, Fish Tank Game, Ragi and Golden Coins Game, Caterpillar Game, Boxing Ring Game, Gym Ball Game and so on.

     

    On Monday, film stars compete for the small finale that is held on Friday. On Tuesday, it is the turn of television artistes from the Kannada GEC space. Wednesday is the turn of the public that are selected through auditions and Thursday, it is celebrities that take part. Winners of the daily episodes compete with each other on Friday and the weekly winner goes onto participate in the grand finale or the fourth month.

     

    Among the film artistes and celebrities that have taken part in Chinnadha Bete include crooner Supriya Lohith, news anchors  Prathima Bhat and Navitha Jain – news anchor, RJ Nethra , Soumya  -a model, female actors Deepika , Ramya Barna, Tejaswini, Sindhu Loknath, Poornima, Sanathani, Rekha Das, Apoorva, Jeevika, Neha Patil, Roopashri, Mytreya and Karunya.

     

    TV artistes from other channels that have participated in the game show this season include Yamuna, Nagashree, Kavitha Kambhar, Aruna Balraj, Nandini Vallish, Jayashri, Padmakala, Meghashri, Shwetha Rao and Shobha Shetty among others.

     

    The channel sponsor has been rewarding participants quite well too-winners from Monday to Thursday episodes are given 2 grams of gold, the weekly winners 4 grams, and winners who compete in the mega finals will be given 5 grams of gold, besides the 100 grams of gold for the finale winner and the 50 grams of gold for the runner-up.

     

    Among the weekly celebrity winners for the first season are female lead actors Neha Patil, Roopashri, and Shruthi a public contestant selected through auditions.

    MUMBAI: As the global leader in consumer health and hygiene, RB (formerly called Reckitt Benckiser), today announced a 5 year ambitious program in partnership with NDTV and Facebook – “Dettol – Banega Swachh India”. With a commitment of making India healthier and cleaner by 2019, RB has made a commitment to invest a sum of INR 100 crores towards this initiative across the next 5 years. The program aims to spread awareness around the importance of hygiene and sanitations to millions across the country and has introduced Indian film actor and legend, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan as the program ambassador for this mega campaign.

    With a history of over 150 years of innovation and the DNA engraved in health and hygiene, RB has powerbrands such as Dettol and Harpic, which are considered as gold standard in hygiene and sanitation segments. Through the partnership, RB aims to combine the on-ground expertise and vast presence of NDTV network with the massive reach of Facebook through online and mobile to address one of the most critical challenges faced by our country. NGO partners such as CAF will bring on-board their implementation expertise to execute the programs and will be supported by the Sulabh International & WaterAid as knowledge partners.

    To kick off the program, a “Dettol – Banega Swachh India” bus will be flagged off in October, which will cover around 400 villages across 8 states – Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, MP & Maharashtra. The objective of the bus will be to create awareness around hygiene and sanitation through interactive videos, flyer distributions, posters, hand-washing sessions and street plays. The partners in the initiative will continue with an ongoing dialogue for the next year to explore more opportunities for making a difference towards this initiative.
